Well now my vote is wrong. I chose bumper cam because I use the cam that looks like it's attached to the front bumper. I.E. Full screen, no car visible.

I know other people use the same terminology, so it's not just me... but it seems a few of you also take bumper view to mean exterior view? As in rear bumper?

Sounds like you wanted ground cam. If so, that adjustment can be made.

Problem being I don't want to have to do it for everyone that is also in your position.

Bumper cam - low down at the front of the car with an artificial mirror 'rectangle', you don't see any of the car from this view

hood/bonnet cam - back of the hood/bonnet, just in front of the bottom of the windscreen. You see the hood/bonnet

Roof cam - same as the hood/bonnet cam but only available on a few cars, you see the roof of the car

cockpit view - inside the car, you see the dash, wheel, hands, and out of the windscreen

exterior view - from behind the car, you see the entire car from the rear

Cockpit view is the prettiest but I use the hood/bonnet cam for consistency between the premiums and the standards.

Yeah that's what I mean, I'm not too bothered though I'm sure the poll will equal itself out anyway :D

never understood/liked bumper cam. You cant even see your car. To me that just makes it feel like you can be driving any car.

I use cockpit for premiums and roof/ chase cams for standards.

I use bumper view more often than not due to the rear view mirror but I also use roof view and I always check out the cockpit when I have one juts to see what it is like on each car and even the chase view on a straight to hear the exhaust.

btw there is no hood cam in the game and there is no ground cam either so the poll is not really valid.

I use the roof cam for pretty much everything, since it seems to offer the best viewing angle of the road ahead, atleast to me.

I'll use the cockpit every now and then if it's available, but only if I'm not really concerned about loosing the race.

the cockpit view is cool, but when im doing serious races i use hood cam. it give me a better perspective of the road in front of me. the bumper cam is horrible for line of sight sometimes because it is too low. but, i do think the bumper would be best if you were the master of the track.

Cockpit view for me. Depending on the car you may not see as much as with the hood view for example, but its a much nicer feeling (for me). Earlier in GT2 - GT5P i used to use the chase cam, but now i cant drive with it anymore

Well, they all suck, but I use the bumper cam because it is consistent through all cars.
The hood/roof cam feels like I'm riding in a truck sometimes.
The cockpit view feels wrong because I have a wheel in my hands and one on the screen.
And exterior view is more gaming and less like driving simulation.
I wish they had a camera view directly at eye level, like cockpit view, but without any wheel/dash/etc. in front of you.
The hood/roof cam would work if it actually were placed at the bottom of the front windshield on every car, but sometimes it feels like it is in the middle of the hood, or at the top of the windshield, or in the middle of the roof.
This is one of my big gripes about GT5, but I doubt they will actually fix it/add it.

Try setting the Cockpit view to "narrow" or "narrower", maybe this is something for you

Roof view for me. I like seeing where the car is pointed and in some cars I get a nice high view which is great for tracks with hills like the Ring (Apricot Hill and Sears Point too :grumpy:)

I agree, bumper certainly isn't perfect but it's the best in this scenario. One of the main annoyances is the way there's an invisible area of contact in front of your view... you hit the car in front before you've even reached it properly. On the bright side... it's got by far the best HUD. I can't stand the digital layout.

cockpit

It's the only view I use if it's available for the car I'm using, and I avoid Standard cars as much as possible because of this. No matter how well people might argue in favor of driving in an exterior view (whatever it may be), the cockpit is where I drive real cars and it's where I insist on driving my virtual cars. Granted, I can't see as well from the cockpit view, but I want to be seated inside the car.

Thanks! Never knew that was there.
Neither one is perfect, but they are much better than "Wide".
Personally, the "Zoom" setting is still a little too far back and the top of the wheel is still showing.
The "Extra Zoom" setting is the perfect placement inside the car. The only things I don't like about this setting is that the A-pillar on the left side appears way too thick and takes up too much of your vision (but this is minor). And the bigger problem, in this view you can only see about 1/3 of the rear view mirror and the part you can see is basically useless.
I will probably switch between "Extra Zoom" in Premium cars now and "Bumper Cam" in Standard cars.
My ideal setup would be for all cars to have the "Extra Zoom" view, with a smaller A-pillar, a usable rear view mirror, and the option to turn off all the worthless HUD details and just look at the road!
At least that last part might actually come true, since Kaz mentioned it being looked into for a possible option in one of the next updates. 👍
