Initially it was cockpit, but I've recently started using bumper a lot more... I think standards were part of this, but even in premiums, I'm using the bumper cam more... I think it's because some cars have really had view fields.

Thanks! Never knew that was there.
Neither one is perfect, but they are much better than "Wide".
Personally, the "Zoom" setting is still a little too far back and the top of the wheel is still showing.
The "Extra Zoom" setting is the perfect placement inside the car. The only things I don't like about this setting is that the A-pillar on the left side appears way too thick and takes up too much of your vision (but this is minor). And the bigger problem, in this view you can only see about 1/3 of the rear view mirror and the part you can see is basically useless.
I will probably switch between "Extra Zoom" in Premium cars now and "Bumper Cam" in Standard cars.
My ideal setup would be for all cars to have the "Extra Zoom" view, with a smaller A-pillar, a usable rear view mirror, and the option to turn off all the worthless HUD details and just look at the road!
At least that last part might actually come true, since Kaz mentioned it being looked into for a possible option in one of the next updates. 👍

What do people mean when they say they set it to "zoom" and "extra zoom" ?

Bumper view, the only manner you can race competitively in my humble opinion. Tachometers are hard to read in cockpit view I find it a bit distracting.

I think the hood cam is best for visibility and engine sound too, only problem is my wife moans about it being too loud so have to revert to ground cam. Full exterior view is too much like playing a kids game like need for speed! Feels totally unrealistic and arcadey to me

I couldn't vote because it depends on the situation, and there's no multiple choice for this poll.

My preferred view for fastest laps/best racing ability = hood view.

But I'll switch to cockpit view or bumper view at times.

In premium cars, you can change the view in 3 different positions if you go into the Quick Options menu.

thanks for the info .

I use exterior view to start so I can see how the car behaves. If I feel comfortable with the car thereafter I use the Interior view, I then relie on the steering wheel to feel what my cars doing.

Definitely Cockpit view, except with the Citroen Rally Car (The one Løéb drives), it has a stupid banner on the top of the windscreen so you can't see **** all when driving down hills.

3rd person: Impossible to drive competitively, I only use it for drifting.
Bonet view: Competitive racing
Cockpit view: I don't like it, but it's quite good on some cars.
Ground view: Where's the car? It feels like you're snake. You need to see dimensions of your car.

If you are truely into sim's your anwser should be cockpit view. It has to be said that faster times are achievable with bumper view. So these 2 get my vote. (I use cockpit view in every car that has it(premiums))

Hood / Roof cam if I'm actually racing competitively. It's the most realistic view of the road.

I know I'm spoiled by my TrackIR that I use for PC simming, but I find the cockpit views just too unrealistically limiting. If the eye level wasn't seemingly based upon that of a 5' 5" Japanese guy and if your head would look through the corners some, maybe it'd be a different story. You're already hindered by the fact that you don't get the realistic physical feedback that you rely on when driving a car at the edge, I don't see any need to hamper your ability to judge the line and see through the corners as well.

If I'm just tooling around for fun, or competing in a race where I totally outclass the opponents, I'm apt to run in Cockpit View in a Premium car if for nothing else than to enjoy one of the ONLY advancements we've gotten for our 7 year wait. But never when actually driving well matters.

Oh, and I run Cockpit view for most of my B-Spec racing where I don't need to see the line. :)

3rd-Person view just feels too "gamey" to me for something that's supposed to be a fairly accurate driving sim. I'll jump out into 3rd-Person now and then in the same situations where I run Cockpit view.

I never run the front bumper view, though I wish that some of the other views used that HUD.

If its a good looking cockpit that doesn't get in the way, I usually use that. But some, for example the NASCAR cockpit, are just cumbersome and hard to see through so I use the ground view in those. I love my McClaren F1 cockpit view though :D

I finally discoved that "your head" can move around in cockpit view. . . you just have to change the button layout in the options menu. (I never knew that before today)

When im Chiilling i play with Cockpit, but when i must Win races Offline or Online i take Hood/roof Cam.

Why?

1. You feel the real Speed that you are going.
2. You got best view, you know where your Tires are etc.

I Actually can win every race online :D

I use bumper cam.
But I prefer bonnet cam in all driving games bar GT5 as GT5 has no set bonnet view.
On some cars its perfectly placed on the bonnet but on most other cars its placed on an angle and on top of the roof just behind the windscreen.

I like cockpit view but to me no driving game can get the cockpit view correct every car I have ever driven I have been able to see down most or the full bonnet but that's not the case in GT5, Maybe if they had put in seat height and slide adjustment I would have been better.
Personally cockpit don't work unless you can look around it to see were apex's are just like it do in my real life car.

Had noone recognized that you can Change the Cockpit View ? You can adjust it under the Quick options during the Race in smaller and smallest! You will See much more of the Track Afterwards and less of the Cockpit but it still is à Bit of Cockpit Left. Check it out
