How is it "extra" work to just port in the old cars?
I'm sure there's a level of work to port things over to a brand new console, also they'll have to set up online so that these cars are visible to everyone even those who haven't downloaded the standard cars, either way it's still a process, a process that's not really worth it,bringing the baggage of the ps3 over to the ps4 is not a wise decision the more we hold onto standard cars the more they'll appear in future GT titles, why not be done with it?The whole point of a new console is to have a new and better experience, holding onto things of a old console is no way to launch a new game.

Still curious just where the limit would lie for yes voters. If you're happy with the PS4/PS2 quality gap would you be ok with it when in game models look like this?

Or is there no limit? If you had a game with models and environments with perfect photorealistic graphics would you still rather have these PS2 models than nothing at all?

Actually, that isn't the monumental jump in model detail that it was in the leap from PS2 to PS3. So of course I'd be fine with it. And naturally, I'm sure everyone would rather have Premium everything. But if Standard tracks are acceptable, I have to ask why Standard cars are such a threat to sanity to some.

Frankly, I think this issue is reminiscent of the sound debate, in which a good number of people will basically lie about the quality of sounds in GT5 and 6, and then get huffy of disagreement.

GT7 would be in a great standing position if they could cut the percentage of standard vehicles down to at most 20%. What Polyphony Digital could do is hold a poll to see which cars have the highest demand for a premium upgrade. The cars with the lower demand do not have to be premiumized by the next title.

My answer is yes. People worry too much about graphics. As long as the game isn't buggy and the cars handle realistically and I know when I need to shift (that's right sound doesn't matter that much to me either) I'm happy. A good interior is nice, but if I can see out of the windshield that's all that matters. (Also, to me, it doesn't because I drive third person because we don't have enough of a look around ability or peripheral vision when in first person.) Gameplay > graphics. If PD want's to add updates where they make some standard cars into premium cars every now and then, that would be great, but I would much rather have them focus on bug fixes and adding brand new features and tracks then working on something that doesn't really affect gameplay. People complain that we don't have enough premium cars. At least we have the cars. Sure, all of Forza's cars are premium, but how many cars are in those games?

I am against standard car's and track in GT7. If PD can modeled all standard car's to premium quality remove them. Take most important car's (LMPs, rally car, some clasic super car and iconic road car...) trash rest. Also with standard track ( Deep forest, Grand valley, Trial mountain...) They must go quality not quantity, like they done with GT3...

Why remove a car at all? I'd rather have something than not have it. The tracks you mention are original tracks, not standard like cars are. They have been graphically updated. If we had it your way, a lot of the street cars many people like to drive would be gone as well as some peoples favorite tracks. Why delete content that already exists?

This statement is ludicrous. Quantity IS quality in a GT game!

I honestly think PD needs to hire atleast 100-200 more staff. For crying out loud turn 10 has 300+ and that game barely sells.

Because they lacking in quality to the other original courses such is Apricot Hill, Eiger Nordwand, High speed ring, SSR5, Madrid... And yes they are standard, even Laguna Seca and that is real world circuit...

Image is important. Reviews are important. The hardcore fans, aka most of us here, will buy the game regardless of whether standards are in or not. Will the casuals be reading reviews that make fun of PD for including crappy standard cars and rebel against old school technology? I wouldn't take that chance, and I don't think PD will either.

Fine. I will concede on THAT part, @Johnnypenso . BUT.... Can I get them in a DLC pack of some kind, please? I, at least, want the variety.
I'm guessing it would sell fairly well as DLC but I just can't see them putting them in the game, except for the polished up ones like the Rufs. The only way I could see it happening would be a limited release of iconic cars several months down the road after the game has established itself as firmly in the next generation.

I'm guessing if they picked maybe 20 iconic standards like the Supra and the more popular cars, and modeled them from scratch as premiums (sound too!) it would probably be enough to satisify most of the diehards. Package that up as DLC in 2-10 car packs as gifts to loyal fans, release it 3-6 months after launch, and voila, happy fanbase. Kill several birds with one stone!

Also with standard track ( Deep forest, Grand valley, Trial mountain...) They must go quality not quantity, like they done with GT3...

Removing so many classic tracks of the GT series would be incredibly stupid.

IMO, upgraded standards (the FTOs, the MX-5s, the RUFs etc.) can stay. Hopefully by GT7 we'll have enough upgraded cars (standards to upgraded standards, upgraded standards to premiums, new premiums) for GT to cut the GT4-era models without the overall car count taking too heavy a blow, which should keep GT way ahead of Forza and other rivals in this respect.

So, having only two camera views in GT3 was Quality...?

I have played that game Several times. Even got over 85% completion one time. (Recovering from a surgery... didn't have anything else to do... ;) )

That game is ALL about quantity!

Ohhh Project CARS are going to add so, much, heat on PD if PD themselves adds back standard cars. Also agreed. 👍

Ignoring the fact that the two situations aren't quite as directly comparable as you like to treat them as, why are we operating on the supposition that Standard tracks are acceptable?

Gameplay > graphics.
If someone would tell PD that, they certainly would look quite a bit less foolish with some of their PR.

As the old saying goes, something is better than nothing...

Just as an example, of course I would like to have a premium R31 Skyline in GT7. But if that car doesn't make the list to be "premiumized", I would still prefer to have the PS2 version of it, as opposed to not having it at all.

Of course you would be fine with million polygon cars beside 4,000 polygon cars? Really?

Standard tracks aren't acceptable on PS4 but they're still relatively better quality than standard cars. As for why, it has been explained many times. Consistency in quality and consistency in how cars can be modified.

That is what you want to believe, doesn't make it true.

Any one that thinks project cars is a threat needs to understand something, slightly mad studios is making the game which is a big lol. GT needs to pull a GT3 an obliterate the competition which is what I reckon GT7 will do. Project Cars is all talk no show at the moment, It's backing is from EA. I know toko said their independent but EA is still funding (also thecommunity) them and well we know EA certainly has a rep lately for making stellar game.

How about you actually go into the pCARS sub-fourm and ask the others, because I'm 100% sure EA has nothing to do with pCARS, nor are they funding it...

It wouldn't have to be a DLC pack. GT7 is probably going to have 48-plus gigabytes of Blu-ray space. Just put them on the disc, and give us the option to install them. That way, the graphic purists can have fewer prettier cars, and those of us crazy people who want the Standards can have them. They can laugh at us, and we can ignore them and enjoy our much larger car list.

In all seriousness, my problem is not just the gulf in quality between PS2 and PS4, but the fact that the bulk of the car list has been the same since 2004. Scrap all the Standard '02-'04 Audis and BMWs and other cars we've seen time and time again. Upgrade a few iconic models to Premium, but give us a few newer models in Premium quality (e.g. stop giving us the '04 120i, give us the new shape model!)

With a consistent level of high quality across the board, and a freshened up car list, it'll make the game feel more new and up-to-date. Besides, if PDI can do about 200 cars between games, then we should have 600-ish Premium cars for GT7, and I would be perfectly happy with that.

100% wrong. EA have absolutely nothing to do with Project CARS. Nothing, no funding, nothing.

From the AUP:

You will not knowingly post any material that is false, misleading, or inaccurate.

If you have questions about Project Cars feel free to post them in the Project Cars Forum. It's not acceptable to post untruths.

So for you there is no limit? The game could look photo realistic in every way but if it came down to either not including some cars or including PS2 models like the above, you'd take them?

Yes, I would absolutely take them as opposed to not having them.

Photorealistic graphics aren't a huge deal for me.

Best idea I've seen so far. Simple, yet effective.
