Sorry, horrible idea for a feature. Join us online.

And before you complain, just look harder or make your own.

Which reason would you like to hear for why this is a silly response? Because they were all detailed the first time the "shut up and just play online" people invaded this thread, so you could have just looked them up yourself.

No. IMO, online is what's horrible, so I'll gladly take a feature to create my own events.

And before you complain, just look harder or make your own.

And this is my problem with online and why I rarely put up with it. Both of these things require me to waste more time searching through menus and waiting instead of actually racing. I don't like feeling like I'm wasting my time while I play a video game because then I won't enjoy it.

This could be solved with matchmaking, but for whatever reason PD decided not to put it in. Which is a complete shame as it was in GT5P.

GT6 material. Some expected this to be already in GT5.

not really. It's not hard to implement. Actually it's already implemented on server side. PD won't move it to neither GT5 nor GT6. Most likely GT6 won't work without online at all.

OCD also could be cycled at regular basis offline. But if u wanna buy some car not available in NCD and with 0 millage you have to go online.

Only actual online racing should really require online. Everything else could work offline easily, but PD made many features intentionally depending on online. That's the general trend to fight against piracy and keep users on the short thread.

Races should have been included in the DLC to utilise the new cars and the tracks. I'm happy to be flamed here (but it wont change my opinion at all) but Shift 2 Legends pack is an excellent business model for DLC - cars (available at 0 credits - have as many as you like), a selection of tracks and a wide variety of races. I know all the arguments regarding PD and track/car creation time but how easy is it to create a bundle of new races for each DLC?

agreed!

had 30 mins free time, wanted to race using Spa ... so limited to using arcade or finding something online.

So I used Arcade, enjoyed it, but would have liked to have earnt some credits & refreshed the UCD (I'm looking for a couple of specific cars!)

This would make GT5 perfect for me. I'd love to be able to create races where Super GT, LM, DTM and the DLC Touring Cars were all mixing it up on the track together.

Absolutely, and you aren't alone! right now basically 50 votes not wanting this, but 212 votes for!

It shouldn't be hard to do; if any of you guys have GTPSP there are no set a-spec events for the most part but instead this where you choose your event and the payout increases depending on your car vs the competition, number of laps, the track, etc.

👍 Exactly! You got it! this is how I imagine it regarding the prizes, number of laps, etc. As for the competition, it would be nice if you could select each of you competitors.

This will surely compensate for the overall terrible online experience (in my personal experience). Not saying that playing online is bad as I was actually an addict of "online free roam" in GTA4.

As for the ones that feel superior because they only play online, I have to say that I don't see how a feature like this could affect you. Keep playing online and probelm solved. No one will force you to quit doing it as no one can force offline players to join you guys :)

I meant that PD would likely to save this kind of features for GT6.

Good points!

GT5 could have been made better with better events but making your own events is a stupid idea.

Care to explain why?
Do you also consider the map editors and mission editors available in other games also stupid?

...Just wow... Talk about nostalgia. The good thing that I remember about this feature in GT2 is that it put you against well balanced competitors, and not like in GTPSP or GT4 where it placed you against the same cars all over again.

If they simply copied the menus and credit payouts from Online into the events, it would work beautifully.

Course Settings:
Course... (etc etc. go check out his post)
This is what I was going to post. The only differences I was going to make are:

Event Creator

Number of Events (maximum of 50):
50

Event List Editor. Event number: 1

Event Type [circuit (1), point to point (2), drag race (3)]: 1

Course Settings:
Course... (etc)

And then each event would have crowhop's listed set of features. This would be for both offline and online events. A few more things I'd add is to specify whether the race is a single class or multi-class, course type (asphalt, road/gravel and mix variables, snow, etc), the number of cars in each class, and whether online races will complete the max number of entrants with bots, and each one's difficulty.

Tenacious D, genius!
Multiple events and multi-classes (selecting the classes involved).
Mouth watering. (G)

This can be done once PD has let off their hands on GT5, so users may continue with their own creativity.. I think it may be in Spec III or something
(assuming spec III is their last major change as in GT5:P)

Edit:
This feature is a nice addition to be placed at the "reserved" spot on GT5 menu

Thanks. Can you tell I'd love to work in game development? ;)

If you guys are wondering why I chose a ridiculously large number of events, 50, it's because I'm thinking of an entire racing season. With GT5 improved with more theme-based cars and tracks, such as DTM, WRC, Super GT, BTCC, WTCC, ALMS etc, you could create your own racing championship in whatever racing league you wanted. Even a whole season of drag racing if you so chose. And offering this as an Online League building tool would go a long way towards giving us an online environment worth spending half our waking hours. Personally, I like the bots and so would love something like this offline, but I would want the A.I. tweaked so cars would race to their potential, and not be wimps around turns or chicanes.

Another thing is that you wouldn't have to enter 50 events worth of specs, which would be a ridiculous amount of typing - especially with a controller. When you create the first event, it would fill in all the blanks for the subsequent events. All you would need to do then is edit the tracks for each event, weather and time of day settings, number of laps, and whatever else you wanted to fiddle with. I would even allow the user to increase or decrease the prize credits determined from the races difficulty by 10% or so - something else I forgot to mention, with a commensurate increase in difficulty. Because this could be abused, I wouldn't go more than 10%.

If only you could see my suggestion list for GT6... this is one of them. :D

I wouldn't allow the user to adjust the credit award at all - most would aplly +max % increase all of the time ... I would anyway

Another option that would be fairly simple to use, is to allow the user to pick the number of competitors, the PP of the first competitor, and then the difference for the next. From that the game would fill out the rest. i.e. pick 11 competitors to amke a race of 12, the first car to have PP of say 600pp, and -20 for the second etc to make quite a narrow grid

I'd quite like to have the first car on 400pp, and then have +25 for the next PP

Should make an interesting race!

Now just under 300 votes, just over sixth of the votes don't want this tool - 242 out of 298 Do want this .... please

Does anyone from PD read these forums?

No, this would be just like any dull Arcade mode, Set Track X with Y Cars, useless once you get the hang of the game or not showing your friends a quick few minutes of a game.

I don't want the game to feel like a bunch of numbers and random scenarios, I want it to feel like real organised racing.

You can already do any of this online anyway and it is much better than racing lifeless pointless AI.

Where is the doesn't interest me whatsoever option?

So it is of no interest to you - no problem, it does appeal to quite a number of others.

Incorrect.

It is already like that with a scary amount of the races already in the game due to the terrible AI selection in them.

You can already do any of this online anyway and it is much better than racing lifeless pointless AI.
Irrelevant because it isn't true.

That's why I made my suggestion. Making it a universal race builder tool for online as well as offline racing does turn it into organized racing. And you may hate the bots, but the reason I race so much in Arcade Mode is because a 16 car field is sure a lot more fun than a 4 car field. I don't have to join an organized league, or a club or clan, or wait for a handful of friends to find a common day and time when most can make it. Plus, adding in bots to flesh out the field, you can have a nice big race instead of a mostly empty track.

I know there are online races to be found here at GT Planet, but it's either disorganized or a bit too organized if you catch my drift angle, and finding good random rooms is often too frustrating. It's nice that the online world suits a lot of you guys, but we don't all find it to be a racing utopia, and could use some offline love from PD. Just sayin'.
