Maybe I am just glossing over this crap, all my thoughts are all over the place at moe still packing to go to Goodwood Tomorrow If I meet kaz I will ask him whats the score lol

It is not half empty... it is completely empty... Again promises and collaborations for the future... where are the promised features for GT6? Who cares about a "certified" FIA track? What that does even mean?
It'll be completely empty if the FIA online championship never happens. The certified tracks with their "lame flashing logo" may well be the requirement to run said championship. Not sure because as we know, this has never happened before.

I don't understand how that is completely empty. Think for a second that this is a damn VIDEO GAME company partnering with the PINNACLE of motorsports. No other developer can claim this. You have to look at the bigger picture rather than complaining about missing features. That would be petty stuff.

Kaz is just solidifying his legitimacy here. But this is not to say that he's not working on missing features. He is! But the fact of the matter, having a parternship with the FIA COULD possibly bring more content than ever before. POSSIBILITIES!

Empty promises? Perhaps, but i'd rather not look at it that way.

After GT failed to make the most out of the WRC, NASCAR, Top Gear, etc. licenses, you can't blame people for doubting anything coming out of this. Maybe things will be different this time, but that's a huge maybe and some people prefer not to set themselves up for disappointment.

Just saw more information about the championship on here which to me is mind blowing. It will be interesting to see some real world racers in FIA championships reaction to this. FIA track certification is good to see, already know new ones are realistic so good to see them given the recognition they deserve and hopefully this pushes all tracks to be of a very high quality in the game.

... they should separate drivers without aids from all others (and not only here) ... i don't like to challenge with abs1 - "it" can better brake ;) ... and i need cockpit view and no map for all ... r.

PS: remember, PD, "real driving simulator" ...

WRC, NASCAR, Top Gear. Been done offline and online. This is new and never been done on a video format.

I would like ABS off too, only reason is it gives more possibilities to beat someone although also more possiblities to lose. I wonder how it would work, if it is online racing then disconnections will hurt big time. I think I would need to be very lucky to have any chance of winning but in racing anything can happen...

Via FIA regulations no doubt.

This is what I get from this new news, my theory..

Grand Turismo is stepping away from driving simulator and aiming to transform into Motorsport simulator, with fia backing there corner exclusively atm, this gives pd considerable power with the manufactures its the biggest bargaining chip you could every play manufactures really don't care about cash trust me cash is just a sweetener with these deals. Prestige and adding value to there product is what they really care about. So in essence pd can go to any manufacturer now and say look what we could your product. Your vehicle would be able to drive around fia certified environments , that will show accurately what your product could do at these circuits but what do this mean for gt6 ?

I think probably nothing of any substance maybe one new track "maybe" as there is two spaces left on the track list and we know one should be zehara. But this do give good foundations to start gt7 with a bang how many assets have been held back for gt7 I am guessing a boat full and we should get quite a big evolution on the new hardware maybe not so much graphics wise and lets be honest Granturismo was never really lacking in that part but almost every area that was lacking or just prehistoric.

100% Porsche will be in Granturismo 7 in 2015 or I will eat my Cat

That would be great if PD with the partnership of the FIA create a virtual motorsport simulator, if that becomes the case I hope we get to use current versions of the race cars in their respected class to accurately reflect whats happening in the real world. I know we can't have every race car due licensing and what not but the more race cars we can have from the real world the better for all of us.

One example of my dream scenario would be racing in Super GT with current machines simulating the full Super GT grid with GT500 and GT300 machines. If they can do that I'll never log off from GT HAHA!

PS: even if Porsche doesn't show up on GT7 don't eat your cat.

This would all be wonderful if it came true and I hope it does, but people are cynical around here for a good reason, PD has never shown they can take these wonderful ideas and turn them into stellar gameplay. It's true the possibilities are endless and staggering, but wrapped around the crappy game that is GT6 and possibly GT7 unless it's subject to a reboot from the ground up, it's all rather pointless.

PD must improve their employee count with this new chapter, they have their work cut out to deliver a quality production of events. FIA will be watching them for any lack of direction and would probably give some of the other developers the handle if PD get it wrong. This is a great chance for PD to make Gran Turismo unique.

GT is the biggest selling car game, that and the GTAcademy and $$$$ is the reason why FIA is involved at all. Given the current state of the game itself, I hardly think they'll be watching over GT for any lack of direction, otherwise they wouldn't be involved at this point because the game is about as directionless as it could possibly be.

Well yes, I agree to a point. But GT6 directionless? It is the same Gran Turismo series I've been playing since the first demo. My first point is still needed.

I don't even understand how anyone here might think that FIA will have any kind of weight in the future of GT.

What happened IMO is this: Kaz went to see FIA, proposed a big bag of money to be allowed to get the "FIA approved" sticker and some public events where FIA and PD are side by side.

Thinking that FIA might reject a track because it's not accurate is a ridiculous idea. Presuming that getting licences will be much easier for PD is also ridiculous as FIA does not own brands or even tracks.
No dev had ever been botherd by FIA for their tracks... what PD did is just BUY A LABEL.

This deal is 10 times less effective than signing with WRC, F1, Nascar, etc...

PD worked with Nissan, KW, Yokohama, Red Bull, Sebastien Loeb, Sebastian Vettel, Earnhardt, Toyota, many car manufacturers,... but THIS very deal that noone still knows what exactly FIA will provide (except stickers on the box) will change everything!
Ho, and think of all those stupid other devs who payed a fortune to buy F1 or WRC rights...when all they had to do was team up with FIA !

This deal is pure PR...and seeing how 80% here react to it, it works great!

My point: Kaz should be more focused on fixing what he released, and on releasing what he promised instead of promising the moon and "thinking long term". This is the equivalent of his "vision" for GT6 or the "human drama" we were supposed to get and is nowhere to be seen.

Our passion for GT deserves so much more than this PR nonsense....

I doubt PD managed to give enough money to corrupt a governing body of motor sport. It is more effective than signing another championship, they've got their own championship instead that will get them recognition worldwide, big win for virtual racing.

Well, the first thing to get recognition as a videogame is...to be a good videogame don't you think ?

One might think this should be the first step... and seeing FIA embark on this when PD is at its lowest in terms of reputation shows how little quality matters.

It's all about money.

How far FIA certification is going to realistically push the series forward remains to be seen. It may make the game sell more, that's a no-brainer, but in terms of moving forward, innovating and breathing new life into the franchise, it means very little.

How you can say this literally 3 days after the announcement of a long term partnership is quite baffling.

However the deal was made or for whatever intention it is... this association is still a GIANT blow to all other racing games... especially for iRacing...

Sanctioned virtual race is about to take another lever of seriousness, kinda logic now by looking at the past trend: iRacing success, GT Academy.... now virtual racing sanctionned by FIA !

How much better can it get? Whats above FIA ?

Exactly...
