And what proves that no racing game is complete without Porsche? GT has lived 10 years, hitting Greatest Hits with nearly every title, and it still has yet to include Porsche.

That's two different line of thoughts. Has GT been a success over the last decade? Absolutely. Has it been truly complete all this time without Ferrari, Porsche, Maser, Lambo? No.

That's almost like selling a Beatles Greatest Hits album without "Hey Jude," "Let It Be," etc. Would people buy it? Absolutely. Would it be complete? Not really.

KY has said time and time again that he wants GT to be a sort of automobile history encyclopedia. That would never be complete without the missing 3 (P, M, L). That's like writing a world history book without including Italy, Russia/USSR, Germany or Greece.

Would anyone die if any of the above were to happen? No. But would any of them really be complete?

Do you see my point or do I need to make more analogies? :-)

Exactly.

Just watched the GT qualifying at Mosport and the top 4 were:

1:16.863 Ferrari F430 GT Risi Competizione
1:17.053 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR Farnbacher Loles Racing
1:17.232 Ferrari F430 GT Tafel Racing
1:17.566 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR Flying Lizard Motorsports

This is what it's all about! It's going to be a great race tomorrow.

i don't know much about porsches- why?- because they have never been in gt. Im not to bothered about porsches but the way i look at it the more cars the better. And if we got porsche we would not only have more supercars but think of all the race cars we would have to.

Because Porsche is last manufacturer to build a lineup with one model range consisting only of RR/R-AWD layouts? 💡

If Porsche isn't included, the newer RUF models should at least be in - the CTR3, 997 RGT, RK Coupe, etc.

I was disappointed when GT4 did not have any models newer than '00. :-

HAHAHAHA "Porsche: The New Nissan Skyline"...

We could have more variations of the 911 in the game than we do the skyline!!

Except the R32, R33 and R34 were almost mechanically similar, whilst every new Porsche 911 generation is much different when comparing one generation to its successor or predecessor. Which means all the 911s wouldn't be a source of heavy criticism.

Right... It would just be ridiculous :P

I'm definitely in the camp that Porshe would be great in this game. more so as I got a 944 in may and want to drive it in gt. haha!

Almost similar?

So they weren't similar?

There were plenty of other Skylines in the game besides the 32, 33, and 34 GT-R's, which all had different handling characteristics anyway.

Yeah, that was a long-winded rant. -_-

I guess what I'm trying to say is there have been several variations of the Skyline GT-R that have been included, which has been a source of heavy criticism - if there were as many 911s in GT5 as there were Skyline GT-Rs in GT4, there wouldn't be as much complaining - especially if 911s from all eras were included.

Well you know, really you could say the same of several different cars. Think of how many Mustang variations there have been over the years, including Boss, California, Bullitt, Cobra, etc. The corvette would be another one.

I remember on Top Gear they said something about who has the easiest job in the world... The Porsche design team of course! "What shall we do this year? How about the same thing we did last year? Yeah, sounds good!"

Of course I'm joking to some extent. I'd like Porsche in the game as much as the next guy, but really I would be looking forward to driving the variations of the 917, 956, and 962, along with some of those 911 variation race cars from the 70's with the giant whale tail... That would be a kick 👍

ooh wait, how about the late 60's 912? Those are a blast to drive in real life!

^I'm all for having more variations of the Corvette and Mustang, as well as the 911. And yes, if PD did that, I would stop complaining at the high GT-R content. Those cars are national icons to their home country just like the GT-R is to Japan.

As a side note, I'm currently watching Petit Le Mans and there's some great racing between Porsche/Acura (P2) and Porsche/Ferrari (GT2)! And it just reinforces the fact that Porsche would make a very high caliber addition to the GT universe.

yes it would, porsche is fun to drive like it more then having mercedes ingame, but well that's personal.
some diffrent 911's from a few era's, som other porshes, and yes i'm very happy:)

It'd be great if they'd include various cars from Porsche's history too, both road cars and race cars. I'd love to be able to drive a Porsche 356C around the nurburgring as I own one. I'd also love to drive the Porsche 917K around LeMans & the ring. While new RUF models (plus all the ones from GT4) will be great, having Porsche in GT5 would be fantastic.

However, if I'm not mistaken, didn't Porsche sign some contract with Microsoft/Xbox/PGR, such that it would only be featured with their games? WTF was Porsche thinking?

Porsche hasn't been in PGR since PGR2, they have RUFs in the two 360 titles. Forza 2 has Porsches though, and so does the NFS series which is not a Microsoft creation (obviously).

I want Porsche for their racing cars and RUF because they're Porsche road cars on 'roids. :D

I want Porsche for their racing cars and RUF because they're Porsche road cars souped up evolution beetles on 'roids. :D

fixed for truth

I'd love to see 911 SC RS, spiritual predecessor of GT3-lineup..👍

Hi guys,
really glad to be able to tell you the newest info on Porsche in GT. A guy won some competition where he could travel to polyphony and the cool thing is he was able to interview Kaz!
In the following i'll show you some extract from this interview (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=111878) where you can clearly "read out" that they certainly WILL include porsche (and lambo btw. too, maybe). Last thing:I really can recommend you his great report so use the link:sly:, have fun:)

then i asked him about porsche and lamporghini's are they goin to be in the game? why isn't already?

K.Y: the thing is we are working on it , because like the porsche have some contracts with other games manufacturer, and those contracts has just ended so its possible for us now to negotiate.

Me : what about the damage feature ? how far is it?

K.Y :thats also coming. the negotiations are taking place already. the only problem is that some manufacturer like porsche (NOTICE HE SAID PORSCHE, DOES THAT MEAN SOMTHING ALREADY HAPPINING) say's its ok to crash and total our cars we have no problem, and other manufacturer like Ferrari say's : we won't allow you to show some damage on our cars even if its the side view mirror damage .

KY: the only problem is that some manufacturer like porsche say's its ok to crash and total our cars we have no problem, and other manufacturer like Ferrari says "we won't allow you to show some damage on our cars even if its the side view mirror damage."

That's good news even though it's not official by any means.

Although, did anyone else find the wording of that a bit confusing? I know it's nitpicky and it could be due to translating languages...Perhaps (for clarifications purposes) it should be worded as such:

"The only problem is that some manufacturers like Ferrari won't allow damage on their cars even if it's the side view mirror damage, while other manuf. like Porsche says it's ok to crash and total our cars."

Anyway, here's to hoping they'll be included!

Kaz may have mentioned them as examples of why this might be tough or that this may be difficult to implement and not so much a word-for-word truth.

However, he did say now that some of the contracts have ended with other games, it's now possible to negotiate. So yes, in an essence, he's walking around the question a little bit, but I think there's a lot more hope than there was a few weeks ago.

If ya'd watch this long enough you would see a 996 GT3 road car, not a RUF just hidden. Can be got with 'codes. So, I think there might be Porsche's in GT5.

The cars that will be in are probably the GT3's (the road and race versions) the GT1 race car and road cars, all GT2's, the 959, the RS Spyder (1st type and Evo), and the rumored LMP1 coming in 2010.

Since game is coming out 2010 probably, KAZ wont spoil us a bit saying that LAMBO and Porsches are coming to GT5 game? I bet he knows by now!!!

This pops up as evidence every now and again. If I remember correctly, these were made because the license's were expected to be obtained but they failed come through, as a result they were locked out the game, but obtainable by hacking.

Its not a hint that Porches nor Lambo will be in GT5 after all they weren't in GT4. If any hints taken from this, it means that at least PD want these cars in the game so its likely that we will see them eventually. Don't ask me to specify when eventually is though.

Well, there will certainly be RUF's, so you have your answer. As for official Porsches...no one's sure. There are a lot of license restrictions with EA unfortunately, so it'll be tough to make it happen...

PLEASE for the love of everything that is good and racy, PUT PORSCHES IN GT5!! How cool would it be to drive a GT3 around the ring!!
