dont wanna quote all the pics but that black and orange 997 GT3RS looks awesome along with the Gulf 917K

I will be happy with any Porsche-derivative in GT5, but its not a porsche.... Its one thing to drive a RUF CTR (or any other ruf for that matter), but its a whole nother thing to drive a GT3 RS (or any other porsche)

Ruf is basically tuned up Porsche, so if polyphony cant get the licence for Porsche, then we can have tuned up Porsche's? lol

No, they are not. Try and find a Porsche badge on a Ruf.

Ruf Automobile GmbH is a German automobile manufacturer. Rufs are built from unmarked Porsche bodies and chassis. When a chassis arrives, Ruf builds their own independent work into the car. Because Ruf installs many of their own-made parts, the company is recognized as a manufacturer by the German government.

But Ruf is already in Gran Turismo 4, and is not the purpose of this thread.

But wait a second, what is the purpose of this thread? Shouldn't it be a discussion of whether Porsches will be in GT5? Don't we already have a pictorial wishlist thread?

It's close enough, though.

If by "close enough" you mean "completely different" then yes, you're right.

You'd struggle to find a single component shared between the Ruf CTR and the Porsche 911.

'Rufs are built from unmarked Porsche bodies and chassis.' ... errr they are pretty much the same, it says they build their own stuff into the car but it is still pretty much a porsche.

And yet they're classed as an independent manufacturer under German rules which state 75% of the vehicle's components must be new.

Porsche != Ruf != Porsche.

We've gone over it a billion times.

Oh, for the love of bees...

:headdesk:

Just look at the cars, they look are the same apart from the badge and the transmission and the braking system and suspension and trim and engine and...
They are not the same. Period.

'Just look at the cars, they are the same apart from the badge and the transmission and the braking system and suspension and trim and engine and...'

Nooo... they LOOK the same, they are nott the same, i know there not the same, but the bodies and chassis are. All i am saying is they look the same. So hard to understand?

not to interrupt the debate on if its the bodywork or the components that make the car.

but EA owned the exclusive rights to BMW and Porsche, seeing how there are now BMWs in gt5p i suppose it is possible that real Porches might show up in gt5 or as dlc possibly.

You are claiming 2 different things, and then you ask why it's so hard to understand you?

BMW's were also in GT3, as well as both Forza games thus far.

Also, I think with Porsche taking controlling stake in VAG there will be a greater chance of them being in the game.

As for RUF, they are totally different under the shell, this makes them an entirely different thing than Porsche.

dunno what the status of the licenses are at the moment but i assume that "exclusive" is overblown but that developers had to pay EA in the past few years to get permission to use BMW and porsche cars into their games, perhaps on top of any royalites to the actual car makers.

BMW's were also in GT2, in fact we had loads of BMW's in GT2... don't think we had any M powered cars though...

Nah those facepalms are not enough... for something of that magnitude you need the ultimate face palm.

I didn't think it was possible for this thread to get any more off topic. I don't want to be a backseat mod or whatever, but I'd really appreciate it if someone told me why it's still open, or hasn't at least changed the title.
