IMO Gran Turismo should be seen as a marketing tool for car manufacturers. Maybe a way to test drive cars without actually stepping into them. Surely it wouldn't harm the reputation of a brand by putting it in the game. I really don't understand why brands are so reluctant to licensing their cars to PD.

Can someone tell me a reason for Porsche and Lamborghini being so hard to get? I'd actually like to know.

if thats really so then i think the answer to your question would be EA, Microsoft (Turn10) or both - because they payed more / made a more clever contract with Porsche...

But then this is sony with its shining franchise, so i highly doubt that :D

All i know is a lot of fans of the series will be pretty pi**ed if there is no real 911 in the game (and it really belongs in there) - just RUF again

*hopepdwillreadthis* :nervous:

:sly:

List of probable reasons:
1. $. PD spent all their money on licensing other brands (like Daihatsu and Susuki:ouch:) and tracks.
2. In combination with 1, Lambo and Porsche think they can ask a ton of money for their licenses because they feel like it and PD can't afford it. (this is the most logical)
3. There is some sort of contractual agreement with Lambo/Porsche and other game developers. MS very well could have said we will pay you so that GT cannot have Lambo/Porsche (this seems way to conspiratorial)

The truth is there is no good reason. When will Lambo/Porsche realize that having 22inch rims, a pink paint job, a massive wing, graffiti decals and a 1500hp is not the right way to spread brand image (talking to NFS). It just does not make sense. What better way to market your products than put them in the HIGHEST! selling racing game franchise of all time (The GT series has sold over 50million copies worldwide)!

One likely way PD could get Porsche and Lambo is do a promotional material like they did with Ferrari. If PD says if go to work with us we will go to work to you, I really do not what could possibly make them say no.

Perhaps they are saving some more juicy stuff for TGS ?
Like the E3 trailer, they showed off the WRC and Nascar license and maybe they were still negotiating with certain people and couldn't show certain things in the trailer. They may have had successful negotiations now and maybe they can show them in a new trailer at the TGS.

Wishful thinking I know ;).

There not strictly three 911's in the top pic. The first one is a 935.

lmao, this thread is still active? Cool I guess.

No signs of Porsches yet, but there's still time.

ther's allways the same problem its $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to ;)

RUF is totally different from Porsche, they only appear the same from the outside.

to me, they will always be tuned Porsches, no matter what. but back on topic.. I still wouldn't mind 930-chassis 911 SC-RS-model with proper soundtrack.

this ruf is most powerful than any Porsche 235 mph
Ruf CTR3

Not entirely true.

Dauer Porsche 962 will kill it any day of the week. 251 mph. (Norbert Singer & the Porsche factory gave Dauer technical help in turning the Le Mans car into a street car, so that they can exploit the rules and turn it back into a race car.)

In the time its taken gt5 to be released we could probably phone the guys at porsche or composed a letter asking how much they want paying to be in gran turismo and started rallying around the forum to get some money together ;)

word :)

It'll all be revealed in one moment, I suppose. A new trailer should be the means by which we see what we will get. Perhaps a new video of a Lamborghini and Porsche racing on Top Gear's test track. You know?

Indeed. However, I was just thinking of that exact concept but with a McLaren F1 and a Bugatti Veyron.

Imagine a camera view from far away down the airfield with heat beating off the road and moving through the air like GT3 replays (okay, I know it's England but bear with me people). We hear the faint sound of the V12 and W16 revving in the distance. All of a sudden, the two set off but we still can't quite see what they are. Then we get a side view from far away with one of the cars pulling away towards the start and we see close shots of the two cars dragging but with the camera focused just off the cars or focused in too close to recognize them (except for maybe those who really know the designs of the cars).

Back to the far side view the car behind starts to pull up and really close in on the lead car. Just as the two get side by side again the cars are finally revealed (perhaps as they cross a finish line) in a still (like a camera shot) from the front left/right. You can only imagine. :)

I heared Porsche is actually in financial trouble, I see two consequences out of this: (just an idea)
1. They see the need of any promotion they can get and FINALLY give PD the licence for a reasonable price.
2. They see PD as a "money-cow" and ask for a redicilous amount of money for their licence, thus they can make a lot of money in order not to suffer from their crisis too much.

The question is how they will decide.

1. definitely far outweighs 2. in terms of advantages. PD may be a world renowned company but demanding that much of money to save their butts won't be enough.

If Porsche plays its cards right, it would surely give the license to PD for free exposure.

Porsche will be in...

I hope.
Don't understand why Porsche would not like their cars to be in the best ever console racing simulator (until GT6).

29 pages of everyone saying the exact same thing. Any chance we could not keep adding new posts if we don't have something new to add? :)

This sub-forum is turning me into a cranky old man. While you're at it, GET OFF MY LAWN.
