I don't exactly remember saying they are a substitute for Porsche after acknowledging (and repeatidly reminding people) them as a seperate Manufacterer so you might want to not point fingers at everyone.

If you didn't say it I wasn't directing to you. I said SOME, not everyone.
Yes they are a separate manufacturer.

Ruf being their own manufacturer=being unique to Porsche, which they are. So this unique manufacturer is a good substitute??? right that makes sense.

The only cars that Ruf manufacture that share an exterior resemblance to a Porsche counterpart are the 3400, R Turbo, BTR, CTR, RGT, RK and RT12. that is less then 10 cars out of the hundreds of Porsche road and racing cars or say around 5%. And this is still only an exterior/superficial resemblance.

The RGT is the closest car that somewhat resembles a Porsche in both looks and performance. but it is just a 911 Carrera chassis with comparable power to a 911 GT3. The engine, suspension, breaks and tires are all different. These cars would drive completely different.

There is no Ruf that performs like a stock Porsche. They only bare a superficial resemblance. A car that performs like a Porsche but looks different would be a better substitute in a racing game......unless you just like to look at the cars.
People think Ruf is a good substitute because it is the closest thing we have to having a Porsche in the game. Even if they drive different, they still look like a Porsche which is what people like.
Why is it that Porsche is represented as RUF and not Porsche?
It never has been.

Porsche was never represented by RUF. They're different companies whose cars only share a similarity. That's where it stops.

Porsche never represented themselves because they could never get the license.

Check in GT2,3,4.

Just because there has been a Manufacterer people call a substitute for Porsche doesn't mean they represented Porsche. RUF represent RUF Automobiles, not Porsche AG.

I should have said "Also known as"RUF.

Ruf are a tuner company. They modify Porsches. They have a legal status of being a manufacturer.

The Rufs in GT2, 3 and 4 are modified Porsches that are called Rufs.

They "manufacture" cars that are based on Porsches. If that makes them a manufacturer then so is practically every other Tuner company that modifies the donor car.

Here we go again.....

If they do it in a large number than yes they are there own manufacturer.

Also, I don't really care if stock Porsche's are in the game, however I hope they get the license for the race cars.

Thanks man! And DJMaky, it's not going on again...the subject's done.

Well, Lambo and Bugatti have been announced, so now Porsche's chances are even slimmer. Although we will have similar enough cars to the production cars that Porsche make, like:

Boxster: Audi TT, BMW Z4, (if it makes it) Mercedes SLK
Cayman: Uh...the Boxster (though that probably won't make it obviously), (again if it makes it) Mercedes SLK, BMW Z4, Audi TT RS
911: Aston Martin Vantage, Mercedes-Benz SL, (if it makes it) BMW M6, Jaguar XKR
Cayenne: (if they make it) BMW X5, Volkswagen Touareg, Range Rover

So if certain cars make it, we still have alternatives.

Do some research buddy; you're clearly showing you have no knowledge of their assembly line process.

Yes, Ruf converts Porsches. Yes, you can have your Porsche serviced at Ruf in Dallas & in Germany. Yes, you can buy & customize your Porsche with certain Ruf parts. But those cars will never have Ruf vin numbers.

However, they do make an entire car based on shells that Porsche provides them. Everything is done in-house. They make engines, transmissions, clutches, etc. Even the body shells are modified. Heck, they even make an electric 997 Targa that's reminiscent of the vintage soft window Targa!

This is what separates Ruf from the likes of Gemballa (who are just happy to cherry pick the best aftermarket parts).

I know it's bit off topic, or it may the topic.

So will Shelby be like RUF? Shelby mustangs have vin numbers and what not yet they are their own company right?

That's an excellent question. I'm afraid I don't know enough about what the modern day Shelby does to provide you an answer.

I'm not sure if Shelby starts with a base Mustang or just a bare shell and they re-engineer everything else.

EDIT - Another thought to consider, both Shelby & Ruf have manufactured cars from a clean sheet of paper (i.e. Shelby Series 1 & the CTR3, the eRuf). So that alone can argue that they both have the capability of making their own cars & don't merely tune cars.

EDIT II - I just spent some time on Shelby Automobile's website & I'm under the impression that the modern day Shelby is working with the cooperation of Ford Motor Co. Yes, they do have their own performance packages that they make, but they don't make everything (i.e. they offer Borla exhausts).

Ruf, in comparison, does NOT work with Porsche. Does NOT sell any aftermarket products other than the parts they make.

However, I'm not sure if Shelby is classified as a manufacturer.

Shelby is still a manufacturer as they do still build their own Cobras. However, like in the past, the Mustangs are still Ford products sent through Shelby. Remember, the GT500s are built in partnership with Ford's SVT team.

In terms of performance, are RUF car's similar to Porsche cars? If so, would it be suitable to have RUF and Porsche in the same game?

You learn something new everyday. BTW, I have no idea how I missed the CSX (Cobras) Roadsters on that website.

In terms of performance, Ruf cars are WAAAY beyond normal Porsches (with the possible exception of the new GT2 & CGT). Ruf has been pumping out 500 bhp cars since the 90s. Their performance is just staggering even compared to contemporary 911 TTs.

In all honesty, it's a completely different experience.

would it be suitable to have RUF and Porsche in the same game?

Of course, I hope they do. I highly doubt they will just dump RUF because they got the Porsche license, that would be a bit of a insult.

I'm a bit affraid that Porsche won't be in the game, If i was PD and
i wanted to surprise the world with a new brand, like they did for Bugatti
and Lambo, I would have chosen to show Porsche for the GTMobile-preorder
and keep Lambo or Bugatti as last info before release cause those brands
are more appealing to most people(not me, i'm a Porsche fan).

Hope i'm wrong and that they did'nt mention Porsche because of the amount
of cars they will add(hopefully like min. 15 a 20 models, mix from old & new
production and race cars) but then they need to do the same for Ferrari....
(don't think Lambo got a lot of older race cars)

On the other hand KY mentioned that Porsche did'nt make a problem about
damage on their cars unlike Ferrari. And like everybody already said if there
not in the game we still have RUF.(but without those magnificent race cars
from the Porsche history) : (

To be honest, I'm sort of angry how we learned about Lamborghini and Bugatti in GT5. It seemed far too subtle, and it took away some of the 'WOW' factor. Would have been 10,000 times cooler to have seen them in a new video at Gamescom or something, but instead we found out through a silly GT PSP Go promotion. Not the most unique way to do things...... Hopefully Porsche and Lamborghini, etc, can all appear in the same video to totally awe us.

Not the most unique way to do things......

But showing them off at a gameshow is? Don't worry we will get our feed of goodness sooner or later (hopefully sooner).

Unique was the wrong word. Showing them off at a convention of big gathering seems more logical because more people would be aware of it. I bet very few people know about this PSP GO promotion other than us dedicated fans here. I can almost guarantee there will be some type of video or something that will show off the new cars being added. Not only will this be informative for the ignorant, but it will be a treat for all!

^ Or even save Porsche to be unveiled at the German Cologne Games Convention.

Or if Porsche doesn't get unveiled there. We still have the Tokyo Game Show! But hopefully they will show it, at Games Con.
