Porsche will not be in GT5

How could a game be a "real driving simulator", have a 1000 cars, and NOT have Porsche? I bet 700 of the 1000 are Japanese cars.

I do not...I just don't get that.

What has Porsche to do with the moniker?

If that were the case, then No recent Need For Speed Game, from Pro Street to Shift would have Porsche 911s Turbos and Caymans on the track as the Nissan GT-R. Once again, a unfounded theory.

On the face of it, but everyone's missed the point he made.

The GT-R is a car Porsche hate. The second it went round the 'Ring in whatever time it did it, Porsche were on the offensive - wasn't a factory car, the track was closed, the tyres were special cheater slicks, the weather was perfect, and so on. To prove their point, they bought a GT-R themselves and lapped it round the 'Ring and, to no surprise at all, did it 30s slower (almost as if they sought to prove something and ended up doing so - the shock of it all). There's some considerable bitterness there.

And PD, makers of the Gran Turismo series of games, designed a significant component for the GT-R.

The point isn't that Porsche won't sully their cars by allowing them in a game that has GT-Rs in it, but that Porsche hate the GT-R and all who had anything to do with it, including PD.

Personally I think it's a little far-fetched, but not completely implausible.

Why would Porsche see GT-R as rival as it is about half of the money similar powered porsches?

It's a premium 2-door coupe which is faster than almost anything they can make.

I would go public on this if i was Kazunori and if porsche really has trouble with GT-R. 370Z is also good rival to cayman s :)

So it is likely official that we will never see Porsche in GT ever because of PD's involvement with the GT-R. Well, what made no sense to me at first suddenly alot more reasonable then I thought. Looks like TVB & I might as well remove all the Porsches from our wishlists since it looks obvious they will never be there.

Not "likely" but it is a possibility, could be any reason.

Now this is something I haven't thought of before. Does make abit more sense that it could be a trust issue. Of course on that same time, Lamborghini seems more forgiving.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lamborghini was indeed more forgiving. On the surface, Porsche appears to be a much more serious and "professional" company than Lamborghini is, even though nowadays they're both run by Germans. Perhaps what contributed to Lamborghini's eventual inclusion was the fact that their ancient rival, Ferrari, included themselves in GT5, and they didn't want to be left out? They wouldn't want little boys and girls and potential lottery winners growing up to love Ferraris, now would they?

I don't think that Porsche is upset with PD at all. I imagine that Turn 10 and EA have thrown a large sum of money at Porsche to get exclusivity and that's all there is to it.

I can believe that. Though, I wonder if PD offered money to get exclusivity...I'm sure they knew when EA's previous contract was up.

me thinks that Porsche should be begging Polyphony to have them put in their game... not the other way around..

If you consider their current financial situation, I don't blame them if they took the money for an exclusive contract. The thing is, we don't know if PD also made an effort to outbid the others.

I'm sure from comments on FM.NET that it actually EA that hold the licence exclusively, T10 aren't now allowed to show any pictures of Porsches due to their agreement with EA..., so T10 clearly don't have an joint exclusivity directly with Porsche..

Food for thought, it would be interesting to know why Porsche would have been daft enough to have entered into such a long standing agreement, unless they didn't see the appeal of having their product in games at the time and signed a long contract with EA when these things wheren't such big money..

More food for thought, if T10 cannot promote FM3 using Porsches, that could theoretically extend to PD not wanting to promote GT5 using Porsches as well...

...If it's to show up in there.

Hmmm, that is an interesting thought. This continues to be more and more compelling by the week.

For me, it's the fact that we've seen so little. We've seen one little video at E3 with some cars.....most were from GT4. I can only recall seeing the CitroenbyGT and the Nissan R35 racing model that were new. Other than that, I feel they've got great reason to hide the most anticipated cars: Lambos, Bugattis, other Ferrari models, etc. Porsche might be in that category.

I hope so! Imagine the race: Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari Enzo (or FXX:drool:), Lamborghini Reventon and Porsche Carrera GT(), everybody at the Nürburgring!:drool::drool::drool:

Haha! Trust me. I cannot wait for a starting grid like that. You look out your windshield, you see a orange Lambo Murcielago SV. In your rear are two Porsches, a GT2 and a GT3. To your left is a red Ferrari F50. You take a deep breath and way in the back of the field you can see a grey ZR1....just waiting to pounce on the first turn. In that moment, damn, GT5 would be perfect.

In my opinion, you just have to believe Porsche will not make it. Because if they do not appear, we won't cry about it. However, never ever disregard Porsche's chances. Kazunori knows what Porsche would mean to the series, to GT5 (especially with FM3 having it). But anyways, forget this conversation because Porsche won't appear, right?

I think the contract between Porsche and the other game was signed not short time ago, so why Yamauchi told us that Porsche will probably be in gt5? He knew certainly the situation...

Sorry if I write not very well but I'm italian...

Again I ask, do we have any proof at all the EA has an exclusive contract with Porsche, or has it just been said so often that everyone is just assuming it?

But its not faster, given to the same driver on the same day the GT2 has been the winner in ever comparison i have seen, and that includes at the burgerring!

I really want to know how the Carrera GT handles, and I want to master it. I hope that will become truth. Such a beautiful car.

EA don't have any exclusive contracts. Porsche would never sign away "exclusive" rights to anyone in terms of their intellectual imagery. Porsche can licence their product to whoever they choose.

I suspect that Porsche are against the inclusion of RUF in Gran Turismo. A good mate told me many years ago that they (Porsche) were prepared to sign up for GT3, but their licence was conditional on the clause that PD did not include Ruf Automobiles in the game.

Rubbish rumour-mongering? I thought so at the time, but when I learn that Porsche are not included in GT5, I suspect that there is something deeper than just mere "licensing" issues and none of those involve EA or Turn 10. And none of the other games include RUF, yet they're happily in bed with Porsche whilst PD, who have good ties with VW, are left out in the cold.

Could it be that this is true and Kazunori or PD won't be dictated to as to who they include in their game? Ruf are after all a recognized manufacturer of cars, they are not a tuning house. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Porsche were afraid of having their products directly compared against a company they regard as "aftermarket tuners".
