Wow, after seeing that, forget TechArt, I'm sold, Gemballa is my new favorite Porsche tuner. And it's a seperate manufacturer, amazing. They make some sexy lookin' cars! I'm sure they're fast, too! I haven't seen much of RUF, and to be honest I think Porsche should definitely be in the game, but if not, let's see Gemballa. :)

Yea, they have some beautiful rides! Check post 1,091 by me in this very topic. It's my defense for Porsche's appearance in GT5. However, in case Porsche misses the cut, I would take Gemballa in a heart beat. The Mirage GT, the picture you quoted, is based of the Porsche Carrera GT.

RUF has hot cars. Look harder lol. Here are some:

If Gemballa has to be it, you must not forget the ugly brute either..

And that alone makes Gemballa ridiculous in my eyes. They don't bother to thing whether it's a good idea, they just do it. Next, there will probably be Panamera with 22" orange rims while the rest of the car is very green.

IMHO, we'd be better off with TechArt or whatever it's called. They seem to have more brains than Gemballa.

I love the way that SUV looks. If I ever wanted a sporty SUV, that thing is hot. I don't really like the Porsche Cayenne by itself, but I like the Gemballa version.

Yeah they have unbelievable cars but they also have unbelievable prices.

What top of the line Super car off the lot or tuned doens't have a unbelieveble price?

Because of just one vehicle, you don't like Gemballa?

No, what I mean is take example of the porsche carrera GT. Around 350k for it, while the gemballa will pull you upwards of 1 million. That's quite a drastic price difference.

The Gemballa Mirage GT is pretty quick.

650HP
0-62 m.p.h.= 3.7 seconds (3.9 stock)
0-125 m.p.h.=9.7 (9.9 stock)
Max speed=208 m.p.h.

gembella is on race driver create and race for ds. this has no connection to gt5 but since we are talking about gembella's

And Midnight Club 3 used Gemballa to get an F355 and a couple of Porsches.

I'd like Porsche, but I won't miss them if they're not there unlike Lambo which I sorely wanted.

You're right, Hamann's pretty nice too. I would kill for this Ferrari F430 Black Miracle.

And this Porsche 911 Turbo Stallion.

The only problem is it looks like all the cars are badged by their makers, and they're named (for example) Hamann Porsche 911, so I don't think that even if they got a Hamann license, but not the Porsche, that they'd be able to use it...

ps not picking on you jay

Just found the source now

More thoughts and impressions as I continue to play. Also will post some pics if possible (due to manufacturer licensing/approvals reasons). Also, I cannot post pictures of Porsches in our game so don't ask.

EA has the Porsche license so screenshots need to go through some heavy approvals process.

It's a pain so I just avoid it altogether.

and then the stab in the gut:

The good news is that we have 20+ Porsches in the game. No RUF imitations.

Jay

thanks Jay, thats going above and beyond to get the anwer.
i do find it sad that we have to get info about GT5 by extracting info that Turn10 puts out about their game. Also, say what you will about Turn10s attitute, they do communicate with theif fans and by looking at the newest car list listen to the fans. (Pontiac G8, 93 Mustang Cobra, new Camaro and Challenger, and Porsche)

Well, they communicate when their game is nearly done. Recall how all we knew about F3 for a year or more was how awesome the boat races were? Unfortunately, they lifted so much from Gran Turismo, I don't think we'll learn much about GT5 until the last few weeks. Even TGS could be a big heaping... hors d'oeurve. :P

20+ Porsches! Nice. I'll be waiting to see the final car/track list (from both games).

Unlikely. If there were 20+ Porsches in the game then everyone would be over them. As has been mentioned many times before, why can't people just stick with RUF?

As has been mentioned many times before, let me list some cars from Porsche's wonderful history.

356 Abarth
550 Spyder
718 RSK
904 Carrera GTS
911R
911 ST
911 RS
911 RSR
914/6
935
924 Carrera GT
944 GTR
951
928 GTS
959
968 Turbo S
Carrera GT

And those are not counting the prototypes or the Cup racers. If you just want modern Porsches, Ruf can fill the need really well, but when you get to the race cars & the vintage classics NONE of the tuners (or Ruf) can fill that void.

Simple, RUF has 0 racing history. If you bring up Le Mans Porsche is bound to come up since they have such a history there.

Here's one for the non-911 fans. Reason No. 944 (GTR) as to why there is no substitute.

porsche-924-carrera-gtp-gtr.jpg

Here's one of my favorite cars: The 904. Tell me a Ruf or anything else that would come close.

It's getting rather funny now that the only excuse for Porsche against Ruf in a game is Porsche's racing history when yet, nearly no games besides Unleashed actually dig into it and stick more to anything post-1990.
