And it also serves an educational purpose :)

Every time one of those "is Porsche really that important?" comment is made someone (that usually simply dislikes the 911) learns why it is.

And many times someone remembers yet another car or racing model we'd like to see in it.

but probably the manufacturer with the most racing pedigree.
True, but I rarely even used RUF in past games, but I know Porsche do a huge range, and not all are "ugly" in my definition of the term!

We've known that Porsche aren't going to be in GT5 from post 1365 of this thread, but that didn't stop folk from continuing to talk about this subject.

I think this should stay open because, if we were to lock it, other threads would just be created about this anyway, and this thread works well as a catch all about Porsche and GT5.
I agree. Maybe change the name to something more generic now that the question has been answered? Something like, "Gran Turismo vs Porsche: Battle of the Licenses" :sly:

How about; "EA are being the dicks they usually are, as such no Porsche in GT5"

Really, most games that feature Porsche seem to waste the lisence. Forza, NFS, etc, they've got a gem that they're not polishing. I'm really happy for them, and imma let them finish, but unless they include the 935, 956, 962, 917, 550, 356, etc, I'd rather have the faster versions, the RUF's.

Yeah, you included the Cayenne, big ****ing whoop, where the hell is my 1100hp Le Mans Prototype? Where's my classic speedster? Can Am m**********r have you heard of it?!

It's almost as bad as watching some stuck-up idiot buy a bottom-of-the-line BMW diesel and drive of thinking he's beter than you because he's got the badge, but not the good things that the company made.

I'm sure it's a combination of EA and Microsoft. Don't get me wrong, it would be nice to have them for completeness, but RUF are good enough for me.

Think of it like this. We have RUF in GT5 right? Forza 3 has Porsche. Now if I'm not mistaking then RUF are.. whats the word I'm looking for? BETTER!!

Its not really that... its more Porsche's amazing racing history. There are TONS of amazing Porsche race cars that do not have a "spin off" version that I am sure a lot of people would have loved to have had in GT5. You know Porsche makes/made more than the 911 Carrera and Turbo (what usually tunes).

It is a shame they won't be in, but theres nothing we can do about it... Apart from spam EA with hatemail of course.

I'm formulating a plan in which I will work my way up to CEO at EA in 3 months. Once in, I will give PD the Porsche license and anything else they need, bail and go back to my regular job.

Exclusive only agreement too make sure, terminating all previous agreements with other developers so they can have a taste of what PD are having to put up with. :)

Yeah, now that we won't have Porsche, everyone looks at it from the positive side.

To be honest, it is pointless to keep this thread open, especially with the current title. But if daan says it's alright, then well, we will see a lot of useless comments about Porsche.

Which was is point... keep those comments here, and not spamming other threads or creating a new one 👍

So you'll act like a responsible adult then and just not bother looking in this thread anymore, right?

If there is a racing team other than Porsche are they allowed to sell the licensing rights to PD to use in the game? This could be a way to get a bunch of Porches in the game.

Unless its a team built Porsche not built at all by the company and the name does not include "Porsche" anywhere in the name, not even that will work. Also, teams have no control over the Manufacterer's license.

The answer to the question this thread asks is no and that has been confirmed so I also think the thread should get the lock now.

Board of Directors would have you out of the company before it ever went through...

Then how do you explain the McLaren in gt2 or 3 under the BMW team? You can have a team car no matter what the car make is since the car belongs to the team, not the manufacturer. You're getting the teams license to use their car.

BMW supplied the engine for it so it was technically a factory team that has rights to the car.

Being an engine supplier doesn't give you full rights.
Kaz liked the car and it sounds like getting the BMW licensed car was the cheapest/easiest way to get a mclaren in the game.

No, but by BMW supplying the engine they became a factory team. This is why they have the license to that one car. Notice how there has only been that one McLaren and no others, it's because all the other McLaren teams were privateer teams and have no rights over the car.

When was there a Mclaren in GT2 and GT3? I only remember one or two BMW in both games and neither were Mclarens.

Read this interview, there will be no Porsche in GT5.

Is Porsche involved in this edition?

Sadly no. There were some licensing issues.
