What is to say that PD hasn't already built a bunch of Porsches already. It makes me wonder if we actually see every car they model. What if there has been a GT_Porsche garage sitting on some server just waiting for the lawyers to sign the paperwork.

Well if what was in GT3 is anything to go by, I'd bet thats already going on.

I think they've tried, but EA are not too friendly towards Sony, there was an interview with Kaz a good while back and he said that hey were asking for too much money. I think that was befor GT4, there's no reason to think that the situation hasn't changed.

EA have a cushy relationship with Porsche and hold the key to any game being able to license them. It's probably unique as far as car manufacturer - game developer licenses are concerned. Porsche want to be in, Sony want them in, EA won't sub-let the license and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

I've heard so much about how the license runs out for EA in March. So if Porsche want to be in GT5 won't they just sign for Polyphony instead? Its the most logical way for them to be included at this point. I've also read in this thread somewhere that PD moddled what Porsches they wanted in a former game but were never allowed to use those models because they never aquired the license. So seeing as the recent delay for Japan and now perhaps pointing to a worldwide release, it may not take long for PD to implement Porsche. This is considering they have moddled what cars they want and if they can get hold of the license before EA does.

But I'm only speculating........

One (or many in this case)can only hope PD does beat EA to the punch. If they do (assuming Porsche doesn't sign an extention afterwards), then thankfully no one has to pay those greedy people to license Porsche, most notably PD. Of course hopefully, Porsche isn't as greedy.

One other interesting bit of info from that article was about the Tokyo Auto Salon & an announcement of a manufacturer agreement. There's really not too many manufacturers left...

"We're planning to have one of the biggest GT5 displays we've ever built. There will be more manufacturer agreements announced there as well."

Actually, they had Marcos in GT4, though you had to look pretty hard to find them. Vector and Venturi have also been in a game, in GT2 to be specific.
