Because MS forked over the money to EA for a sub license.
Oh I see
Sony better get cracking then

(wishfull thinking)
What is to say that PD hasn't already built a bunch of Porsches already. It makes me wonder if we actually see every car they model. What if there has been a GT_Porsche garage sitting on some server just waiting for the lawyers to sign the paperwork.
They had a 996 GT3 modeled but it was locked in all versions before release.GT3 had Porsches?
I think they've tried, but EA are not too friendly towards Sony, there was an interview with Kaz a good while back and he said that hey were asking for too much money. I think that was befor GT4, there's no reason to think that the situation hasn't changed.Oh I see

EA have a cushy relationship with Porsche and hold the key to any game being able to license them. It's probably unique as far as car manufacturer - game developer licenses are concerned. Porsche want to be in, Sony want them in, EA won't sub-let the license and there's nothing anyone can do about it.
💡
I've heard so much about how the license runs out for EA in March. So if Porsche want to be in GT5 won't they just sign for Polyphony instead? Its the most logical way for them to be included at this point. I've also read in this thread somewhere that PD moddled what Porsches they wanted in a former game but were never allowed to use those models because they never aquired the license. So seeing as the recent delay for Japan and now perhaps pointing to a worldwide release, it may not take long for PD to implement Porsche. This is considering they have moddled what cars they want and if they can get hold of the license before EA does.
But I'm only speculating........
Is Porsche involved in this edition?
Sadly no. There were some licensing issues.
There we go. No Porsche.

(unless the delay has something to do with adding Porsche... )

Noble, Ascari, Gumpert, Vector, Venturi, Marcos are a few other companies i think PD probably left out .
Rolls Royce plus a race track, you'd be fired from RR if you mentioned this idea.According to James May anyway.Bentley is an alternative to the Crewe based peeps cars.
Koeniggsegg, Mosler, Morgan, Rolls Royce, Caterham, Maserati, Maybach, SSC, Ultima.
There you go.
Unless I'm mistaking this with Lotus or another British car manufacterer, Caterham was also on GT4. It can be seen in the intro.

^ If this was 100% in a diamond form, then someone please close the thread.
Well then, there's the answer. Straight from his mouth. This thread now has to be closed with this knowledge fully acknowledged.
Cross Percy Porsche off the manufacturers list.
Whatever. Prosches aren't in.
Thread closed.
well Kaz answered that question pretty clearly...
