Before I post my photo, I am new to GTPlanet. And this is my first post, so hello everyone. If you wish to know a little more about me, then feel free to head over to my profile. Anyway, to the matter in hand...

This here is my car, my first car at that. It is a 1996 Fiat Punto 55 SX, that we obtained for £600. I am only 17 and as of this post have not yet passed my drving test. However it was bought for me by my Dad so I have a car to practice in. We have only owned it for little over a month, and already its been a pain in the neck. Brakes were like chewing gum and had to be replaced. Kept trying to stall at low revs so the spark plugs needed changing. And then the water pump failed. And now suddenly the car fails to start as there seems to be no fuel getting to the engine. All of this is a real shame, as when it is on the move it is actually a nice car to drive.

Welcome to GTPlanet :) Pity the Punto is proving a pain, because bodywork wise it looks in great condition. Bits for Fiats are pretty cheap so you should be able to get everything you need to bring it back to health.

Thanks for the welcome. :) And thats exactly what we thought when we saw the car. We even looked at the engine and when my Dad took it for a test drive (I couldn't as I do not hold a full license yet), the engine felt fine. Mind you, it was on country lanes without much traffic about. So the problem with the car trying to stall under low revs didn't really present it self. The brakes did though, we over shot a junction. Lucky for us there was nobody else coming on it or we could have been hit. We got that problem fixed as soon as we got the car however. So at least the brakes work. ;)

Wow ! I'm jealous off you guys... Can't wait to get my drivers license.. Just 2 years left. I really like the HSV Senetor and the Subaru.

We have a Ford S-Max MPV like thing. It's a nice car , although not very fast nor well it has very good handling. My dad and I are currently working on a 67' Jaguar E-type 4.2 liter 2+2 1,5series. Will post some pic's later. The body is atm at the body shop , taking al the dents and scratches out. The engine did work when we got it. We disassemble the whole car and also the engine. The carburators are done , gearbox done , engine is done , brakes , back suspension , exhaust , and now we are working on the cooling and the front suspension. The car has been imported from Origon US in 1999 to Belgium and my dad bought it in 2003 there. It hasn't been used since 1974. It's kinda rare. Only 1983 have been made. We started working on it in 2007 and will take around 1 year to complete. We re-use most of the parts and it will be painted in the original red color.

Sounds like great fun, restoring a timeless classic. Good luck with that! :) 👍

As you mentioned about getting your drivers license in two years, I'll advise you. Remember not to aim to high for your first car. Your really only looking at a second hand small car for your first car. Although I am not sure what the insurance cover is like in Belgium, if its anywhere near as expensive as it is over here in the UK then its more or less the only thing you'll be able to afford. However, I'll warn you now. Avoid second hand Fiat Puntos, even if the exterior looks in good contion. Despite the fact I have owned mine for little more than a month, it has already had to have its spark plugs changed, its brakes, its water pump and now there seems to be a fuel blockage. Although really, I should have seen it coming. It is a Fiat, after all.

Just the usual mods at the mo, K&N Tyfoon induction kit and custom made cat-back exhaust. Soon getting the front pipe changed to get rid of the pre-cat along with a sports cat and ECU upgrade should be a good 320 bhp then.

I've been looking at some Civic hatches over here lately, just for a winter beater or side project, but unfortuantly most of what I can find looks like what you had (rusted out, and overall poor). Your coupe looks like its in really good condition, just make sure to maintain the body or else age will start catching up with it.

What colour is your interior? Over here I've heard of some guys looking for specific colors of interiors (for total swaps, repairs, etc). Keep searching around, you'll find someone I'm sure. I've noticed as people are getting out of the import scene, theres alot of cheap "gently used" quality parts coming onto the market for that generation Civic, so you should have no problem finding most things that you want.

My car is still running rich, and I hate it. Its been a busy summer, and everytime I make plans to take it off the road and send away the ECU something always comes up (shingles decide they want to start letting water into my house, fence decides to blow over, friends getting married, etc). Winter tires are going on her soon though, which means the "spirited" driving is over for another year. :(

Shouldn't use a Honda as winter car :nervous: Side project sounds alot nicer :sly: Yes, the coupe is in top condition, next to the hatch it looks like new! Need a new engine though, I want more powerrrr!

My interior colour is grey. But the scene here is like, how do I say this.. If you were here, you'll get DeJaVu'd becaus the import scene is just started here.. We got alot of rice, almost no nice JDM or whatsoever. If you see a really nicely tuned Honda it's special. So everyone is selling their interiors.. :ouch: Finding parts is no problem at all, I buy everything from Ebay USA/Canada, everything is so much cheaper there. Only problem I got now is, I want some Enkei's, but there is no 'Enkei dealer' here. Shipping from US will cost me 300 euros and that's just too much.. I don't want knock offs.. You see my problem? :yuck:

Still running rich? Can't you go to a dealer to reset/mod the ECU? Or order a new one.. (Or is that too expensive?)

Water leaking into your house??? That's ****ed! Do you have serious damage? :nervous:

My car is on all weather tyres, we usually don't have extreme winters.. 1cm of snow is much... :grumpy:

"Winter beater" is about the only thing my girlfriend will let me buy. If I say "side project" she'll freak out and tell me no, so if I buy a "winter beater" and start working on it without her knowing then its all good.

I see your problem with the wheels, its the same for me when I went shopping for a set of Mugens for the Prelude and couldn't find anything reasonably priced in the sizes I wanted in North America, but shipping from oversea's was just insane. Keep searching man, you never know when something is going to pop up around you.

I need to send my ECU away to Technosquare in California, they're the only ones doing what I want, but atleast they're known to be one of the best. Unfortuantly that means my car will be a big paper weight in my driveway for a week while my ECU travels the world, on top of that I have to borrow another vehicle to use while my gf has our other car. Its a headache to say the least. :ouch:

My roof is fine now, only had to reshingle the back of the house. Found out the problem pretty quick...the roofers that put the roof on 3 years ago cut corners and ended up leaving a section of old roof with 5 layers of shingles around a pipe, and since they reused the old shroud aswell, it created a huge mess in the roof. I taught the kids in the area new swear words when I found that mess, and surprise surprise, when I called the roofer to yell at him (he did the work for the previous owner as it was done when I moved in) he was no longer in business.

Nice Camaros.👍 Your V6 looked better, your Z28 needs to be lowered.;)

A little sneak peek on next year's look of the mk3, head lights will be smoked, headlamp washers will be cleaned, I need to find new side brackets for the bumper, still some things to do but you get an idea of what I'm up to :)

And car will be lower of course :P

Its all good. I still own both :) I'd like to lower the Z a bit, but I've got headers, a 3 inch Ypipe and full exhaust on it. It hangs lower than the stock pipes and I'm afraid of what a speed bump might do to my setup if I lower it.
