Took these about a week and a half ago. Couple interior shots from the pickup. I know it needs work but we are prepping for a full tear down and rebuild. The floor and bottom of the cab is the worst right now, mainly on the drivers side, and some wires hanging out, and general wear (especially on the seat) but hey, it's old. The headliner cloth is still good but sagging because the foam underneath is going bad.

You can see on the dashboard between the radio and and gauges the old mount for a old school analog cell phone that was hands free. Still have the box for it and the antenna on the window.

Once we clean up the floor and some vinyl cracks on the dash, seat and some wear on the window sill from our arm resting on it, it will be like new inside. Everything we very well taken care of, the cracking on the dash is up top from the sun beating on it. It's all a bit dusty though. Everything is in great shape but the floor. Besides the radio, mostly everything is original except for a few things.

The seat is riding on the frame, the seat belt mount is hanging through the floor and everything under that board with the mat on it is gone. It was fixed once but crappily. The first time it went was because we put the driveshaft through it.

Back shot. Took the plates off it and broke an aluminum screw in the bumper so that's why the red mount plate is bent. Won't be long before tear down starts, body gets replaced and new paint everywhere =P

Thanks man! She's a beater now but she used to be really nice. :) Appreciate the words man. Can't wait to restore her again. My dad wants me to help him tackle it as a father-son project. :)

351 Windsor. Motor is a mid '70s smog motor that had serious work done to it. Heads are stupidly overworked 302 heads from '69 with oversize 2.02/1.6 valves and 1.6 non roller rockers (mistake there), milled 58cc chambers, compression around 9.5:1, custom rods and crank all balanced at stock stroke, .030 Wiseco pistons w/out valve reliefs, 650 Holley 4 barrel vacuum secondaries and a 2 inch spacer, and some other goodies like the Boss 302 4bbl intake with gap spacers, full porting and gasket matching and other junk. Cam is a step up over stock, just a torque making RV cam that runs a 302 firing order. The heads on this are off the old one.

The heads and intake water jackets needed to be plug and there was extra bolt holes on the intake. That's how I know it's a '69 and the casting number says it was pulled off a Boss motor that one of his friends had laying around.

Funny little thing is that the chambers were cut out and switched around, welded back in, then ground back down and milled so the intake valve became the exhaust valve. It will flow air in all day but you got to get those gases out. So instead of the valves being intake 2.02 and exhaust 1.6 like normal, it's the other way around. Neat little trick they did before aftermarket came out that increase power a bit. Pointless now though.

This motor was tossed in as a weekend project because it was needed as a daily driver back then and when the one that is now the block above, decided to shed its piston skirts into the oil pan after 100k HARD miles. That block is toast, can't be bored anymore and the cylinders are so far bowed out that a .060 overbore wouldn't correct it on top of the .030 or .045 it already is (I forget, one of them is .045 and the other .030)

This motor is a total freaking dog compared to the last one, which is that old block above now. That is also a 351. That motor was also blue but the load and stress from it being beat made the paint come off.



I have a bunch of other pictures in a different thread. None of it's prime though. I need to develop some old cameras that may have decent pictures on it.

Yeah I was floored when my dad told me that. I kept arguing with him that 2.02 was the intake side (generally this is the case) and he said no, because its better to have a better flowing exhaust and get it out than an intake on the old Windsors since the exhaust side blows on those motors. The guy who did the head work was my dad's best man so he got everything done for cheap. It's pointless now with aluminum heads but that was a nice trick if you were willing to put the time in. I remember riding there to pick up the parts. We used to do top end rebuilds and front axle rebuilds every fall to keep things fresh. The valve job on top of that was a 3 angle and the seats were hardened so it would run on unleaded. Cam is hydraulic.

It will run on 87 but it likes to ping a little. 93 is best for it but we can't afford a higher octane fuel these days so we just run on 87. He doesn't really care about this motor and talks about going throttle body fuel injection on a big block 460 SVO. Then there's days he misses the original 6 cylinder and wishes he never took it out in the first place :lol:

The last motor ran on 117 octane. :scared:

He should have put headers on it but the manifolds he has are off a truck and some car, were brand new and he had them what's called extrude honed inside to flow a bit better. Granted, they still suck compared to shorties but they are a hell of a lot better than what they were.

Forgot to mention, ignition system is a Ford racing distributor with Accel low resistance wires and .35 gapped Accel plugs, with an MSD 5900 Blaster box and a Blaster II coil. That was stuffed on when an attempt to convert to a '70s styler distributor failed. I still have the cap from that though. I don't even think you can get a 5900 Blaster box anymore...I think it's all 6AL and 6ALN now.

As I've said, we took care of it for years and it was beautiful (we've had it since '87/'88 ish), but a few things went wrong, gas prices shot up etc so we parked it, and these past few years have made it deteriorate rapidly. Thanks though I will likely make a thread when teardown begins. When it's done, it should look simila, almost identical to this (in fact it looked like that for years with a few minor differences):

This one below is mine, and this picture was taken in the mid '90s. I finally scanned this one in, this is what she'll look like again when we are done with her. This was before a few other things were done to it. But yes, this is my baby. I'm proud of her. And yes, the sticker on the plow frame says animal. It's my dads nickname and its all over that truck. Rear window, keychain on the CB etc. In this pic, the wheels and roll bars in the back are in white primer.

Right now, we got an entire front clip off for it for $250. That included driver and passenger inner and outer fenders, headlight bezels, exterior chrome trim, antenna,, lights, 3 piece grill, both doors, interior pieces (wrong color though), emblems and a bunch of other little stuff. We also have a rear patch panel for the drivers side to fix a hole we made for a second gas tank and never finished it. Few other things we have are a spare bug deflector shield and a back window. What it really needs is a floor pan and it's proving tough to find one. We want to put an entire new base on it, as that's what it needs. We even considered throwing an entire cab off another truck on it.


Also, your Dart is looking nice, I love that shade of blue.

Slashfan - really enjoyed all the pics and technical details. That truck has loads of character even in its current form. It has that rugged survivor look that is so admirable. Too bad it cannot be just a preservation project ...but on the other hand it will look great when restored. Good luck ...looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

@Minty - that third shot is yet another reminder why we need to sort ourselves out and preserve the environment! It's an epic location. You are lucky to live there.

Thanks for the kind words man, I look forward to finally restoring it and returning it to it's former glory. Hopefully gas mileage will improve as well :lol: Like I said, I've been slowly picking up parts for it as money permits and opportunities arise.

I had my first proper trip in my new (old) Boxster S last weekend. It was amazing to drive... I couldn't believe how quick the throttle response was compared to what I'm used to driving. It felt a lot like a go-kart.

Couple things. Wheels and roll bars are in primer in this picture. Wheels are now red and white and te roll bars black. Diamond plating was added onto the bed, pin strip and door grab handle removed. Also the running boards were changed and no longer sit that low. Picture was in my garage so there is white paint on the side on the door.that got scanned in.

I know this one isn't too special but it's my ride for the time being. '99 Caravan, 3.3L V6, 184k miles. Gets about 22mpg. Had this thing for years and it's being passed down to me. Only thing wrong with it is the sliding door has a worn slider wheel, hatch is tied down by a rope, and the front drivers side shock tower is starting to go out and leaks a bit of oil, just needs a good grease cleaning and an oil pan gasket. Other wise shes clean as a whistle. Other than mounting brackets, calipers, vacuum booster and master cylinder, the entire brake system is new, redid it all myself a few months ago.

Also, got bored the other day. New photo dump of the old soon-to-be-restored-for-a-second-time Ford. Scrounged around, got some close up shots of the motor and issues etc. Took some pictures of the worst rust on it and the like. Apparently the front fenders and drivers rear panel is the second set that's been installed, bought direct from Ford. Luckily, I've recently located a website that sells OEM Ford parts brand new and has so many different ones in stock I can literally build this truck from nothing. ;)

I keep a couple gas cans for it. Haven't daily driven it in 7 years because of gas costs. Hence why the pickup looks the way it does now.
