So do they get leather interior, sunroof and climate control air in the USA specs?

My mighty '93 2.2 Camry LE.

So my time with my beloved E90 Pre-facelift 320D was fantastic but a cracked sump brought me to the realization that our time was up. While my Bug is fantastic for weekend hooning, during the week I need fast, efficient, reliable and characterful transportation. And so, when I went to the BMW dealership my goals were clear: Get the best F30 3 Series you can get with the money available without spending a single cent more.

By the time I was done with the salesman and the test drives, my mind was made up – ditch the brand new F30 320i M-Sport idea and rather take the demo model 2012 E90 face-lifted 330i M Sport. The decision took no longer than 5 seconds and, sitting here sipping red wine and tuning a 135i on GT5, I am thinking ….would you have chosen the 181BHP F30 320i over the, admittedly older, demo model 270BHP E90 330i which still has a 4 year maintenance plan and has all options included?!?!? Did I mention that the E90 330i is, E46 M3 excluded, the last great NA straight 6? Am I crazy? Mmmmm …my right foot and my ears finds it hard to believe I am…

You've made the perfect choice, can't go wrong with a straight-six 3 series 👍 I have a friend with a 330i auto

One question though, auto or manual?

Somewhat sadly it is Steptronic with the flappy paddles (like my G27 👍). But the truth is that I spend 70% of my time in traffic and, with the maintenance plan, I can only get two approved track-days a year with the BMW club 👎 anyway. Anything else and I loose the maintenance plan and warranty. So there was no point I felt in insisting on them finding a manual version. It is better than nothing or my manual 320D anyway...

That 205 is just gorgeous.

Thanks! The 205 is the sort of car that save for some sort of emergency I really hope to keep for a long time. Unlike the BMW (a 320si - with a carbon fibre cam cover - Win) which is for sale.

Imprezza WRX one of the collection I can't afford but keep any way.

Have some of the other cars somewhere will dig them out and get them posted

Well there would be some pics if I learned how to load them from my own pc. Easy when there on line you can just copy the url and paste it in the image box. Patience will get me there.

That is obviously photoshopped.

There is no way that background is real......

:mischievous:👍

Not sure if serious?

That's literally 15 mins from my house and 20 minutes out of the city. Welcome to Australia :P.

If you want to keep an aircooled VW engine, I would recommend a decent amount of work for a Gymkhana engine. Even if you don't want that much power, 200bhp can sometimes be horrible to get out of them, unless you want to go down the turbo route, in which case the engine will still need work to stop it blowing itself apart. Have you thought about an engine swap? Maybe a Type 4 engine or a really interesting one would be a bike engine. There are a few R1 engined Beetle's out there but they are still rare. I assume you have a full plan though, and good luck! It sounds like it'll be great.

Sorry for the late reply. On the day I went to get the wheels changed I got the car washed and then stopped for some breakfast. As I was walking back to the car I caught a particularly good angle and fell in love with the car as it is. I have decided to keep it stock and original ...and do a rolling restoration until it is MINT ... and I will also learn to live with the mighty 40BHP!

That's a really nice idea, I'll be doing the same in a few weeks. I have to say that it is a very nice looking Beetle as it is, but it'll be even better after a full restoration. I really like those bumpers in the black and white, I've never seen them in those colours before. You should keep them!

What year is it by the way? You may be lucky enough to have a full 56bhp!

It is a '76 ...where do you check for specifications? And thank you for your kind words :).

^ Thanks! :embarrassed:

-> There are still a lot of good, slightly tuned S2K's out there! You just have to be patient, I got my S2K for 5 years now and still struggling to hang on with it since I got my M3. But perserverance has a reward as many people might say! But you will never go wrong with an S2K. In stock form, there is nothing like it out there! Mine only has an intake & so-so tires. :)

-> At that event I had a 40.073; the other guy w/ an S2K which had a gutted interior, springs, no soft top, wheels w/ slicks, cat-back exhaust, intake, and more XP on the track was timed .2 to 2 sec ahead of me. If I only had better tires, I could've easily passed him! lol :sly:

-> An excellent alternative would be an MX-5/Miata. Stock, it's an excellent teacher/commuter car. Tuned, it's an impressive time-eating track car. 👍

Johny just type 1976 1303 Beetle specs into Google and it should come up. You should have more than 40bhp with it being a 1600.

LOL ...awesome! 58BHP!! Now believe it or not, it only had 49 000 kilometers on the clock when I got it ...but the engine was rebuilt ...apparently because the car was in storage and it needed to be. That rebuild is now on 4 500 kilometers so I am going to assume I have at least 50 of those horses 👍. But the amazing thing is the torque ..this thing rips hills at 90km/h all day long ...just awesome. Strange how it can be satisfying when my 330i can crush those same hills at more than 3 times that speed ...

If those are 5 lug wheels they are either reproductions or came off a 1960's Shelby GT500 Mustang.
