Meh... I don't have money for a fancy car. But I love my car. It's my first car that I bought with my hard earned cash. People make fun of it, call it a piece of crap, old man's car, rental fleet trash, American garbage, yadda yadda... But I don't care. Every time I get in, turn the key and drive it it makes me smile.

My Grandfather had a 70's Hardtop 4-door Impala with a big block. He loved his car. I loved his car. He was a Chevy man, and he promised me that car would be mine one day. Unfortunately, the car broke beyond repair when I was just a kid and he didn't have the money to fix it. I instead promised him I would buy an Impala one day and let him drive it.

I was a bit... too late... But I kept my promise and I bought an Impala...

Ah... My beautiful "Elle-Tee"
Facelift! I have the base 3.4 that was made the year before.

Nice! I love the looks of the model before mine! The front looks a lot more aggressive and it has the round "Corvette" style tail lights.

Mine is the "mid range" 2007 LT with the 3.5 and all the goodies. Remote start, sunroof, TCS, power everything and such. The only thing I don't have from the top line model is the 3.9 engine, the Bose stereo and 17 inch wheels.

And of course, then there is the SS with the 305hp 5.3 V8... I wanted one of those, but I've heard horror stories involving the transmission

Too bad I'm gonna sell mine soon. The thing drives like a big couch.

by driving a V6 "muscle" car you have dishonored us all
Lol. I know, I tried for the 5.0 at the time I got the v6 the payments were going to be about $550 to $600. That's hard to make when you have other bills to pay on top of that. But in the next few years im looking at getting rid of the v6 for a truck and then go to a junkyard and find a fox body mustang and put a big V8 in it :). The darn thing tops out at 114 :(. The 2008 Mustang GT I had before I got it up to 120mph. It could keep going to.

Feel like going wingless for a while...

Planning on ordering Mugen coilovers in two weeks, I can't friggin' wait to lower this thing. It'll only be a 1.5" drop, but to me that's perfect for a daily, especially when the quality is at least that of OEM. The goal right now is to get all my suspension work done so I have a reliable drive to PPIHC, which I haven't attended since '10.

I'm keeping the BBS wheels and will be getting them refinished/powder coated.

The paint is really funky for a cellpotato to capture. They're highly metallic so light changes how they look dramatically.
Looks like the plate and wheels match

I bought my first car! My previous vehicle was inherited from my grandmother and it needs one repair too many - the windows on one side no longer go down, the A/C doesn't work, and you have to run the heat, even in the summer, or it stops working entirely and won't turn on in the fall... and those are just the most recent problems and deal breakers. I have a new job, dress clothes required, and I can't be a sweaty mess when I arrive each day. So...

Had our mechanic check it out, and it needs a rear wiper motor and a new CV boot. Long term, it will need new rear struts and the leak in the power steering fixed, but those I can live with for the moment. Otherwise it's clean and in good shape. No rust! :)

Interior smells a bit like smoke though, and that's annoying. Going from my old car ('96 Dodge Intrepid) to this was a shock though, because it handles completely differently. Will take some practice. :P

The Subbie with be a ton better than an Intrepid for those Wisconsin winters, too!

'Grats on the new ride!

The smoke smell sticks around for a while, but eventually it fades. When I got my old Blazer it smelled like smoke and booze because the previous owner put about 40k miles worth of beer and smoke runs into it over 8 years, and they faded after a few months.

Also, it was about time for some spring cleaning. Here's the pre-bath mess

This was like 2 days after a wash, so I figured it was about time for a fresh coat of wax.

A good amount of polishing on my car, and a fresh coat of wax on her and my buddies Fusion and we decided to set up for some pictures to show off the shine.

Plenty of rub marks from some extremely sharp inclines in some extremely crap parking lot. Also road debris took a considerable toll on her bumper over the past couple years.

And now for Instagram filters.

Also, and this is unrelated to the cleaning, the rainbow gods have spoken. My car is destined for greatness.
