Definitely the kid's prize I once got from the International A test. I'm not sure what determined it's appearance, though.

The kid's prize is for those who repeatedly scrapes the bronze time, but never quite managed to get under it. I never got it myself, but others here have gotten the kid's prize. As for the appearance, it's similar to a Wakaba/Shoshinsha mark, see this for more explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoshinsha_mark

[Other ways to get a Kid prize/Shoshinsha is importing licenses from GT1, note this will work only in local B and A licenses]

In Pikes Peak rally track, "asphalt as dirt" occurs in some point.

The car header of the 2WD, first-gen Opti does not anti-aliased, unlike other cars.

(well, sorry for emu header in the opti pic)

In the used showroom in Japanese version, a strange text can be seen behind simple spec sheet.

Oh yeah and this is the image:

@ Pikes Peak: You mean you're driving on asphalt, but the grip level is still the same as driving on dirt? I think PD is trying to replicate the 'dustiness' of the real Pikes Peak tarmac section here. Then again, there is also a dirt-asphalt transition at Tahiti Dirt Route 3 and the grip level change is very noticeable.

@ Opti: Wow, you must be pretty obsessed with finding oddities to notice something like that lol. Good eyes 👍.

The 'text' says CREDITS, if you look closely. It must have been displaced from its correct place somehow. Weird.

Nope. Instead, it is same bug in the Laguna Seca pit exit part. I found them on this thread, but I unsure the post.

The 1998 Toyota GT-One has Esso Ultron decals as unlocked by the player, but the A.I. cars have Exxon Superflo decals. I don't know if that is a similar case with the 1999 car.

It is the case with both cars. It's due to licensing issues (I think?), the Japan game had Exxon sponsorship and the American game had the Esso sponsor (or it might be the other way round, I'm not sure). You can use gameshark to get the other car though (not that it'd make much difference).

I just noticed that for the first time myself. Now does this mean that there are five total GT-One's in GT2? Woah.. :scared:

Ever notice when you to to a city, next to the respective flags, it shows the car dealership names. But in South City (American Cars), Acura is missing from the list.

Here's one for a speed freak who wanted to max speed test the HKS Drag 180SX with an unlimited road runway. Bow down to the mighty Welshy for finding this.

Exxon is American. Esso is European. I'm not sure what they have in Japan.

We used to have Esso a long time ago in America, but for some reason it's not here anymore. I'd wiki all this, but in a way, I don't really care.

Bowing so much i'm already forming a circle. How exactly do you have to hit the tires to get through?

You hit the left tire wall just before you hit the dead stop one. It takes "A LOT" of practice to get right (Try the Escudo for a bit), but gets really easy once you master it.

About the Superflo/Exxon GT-One's. In IA-10 and S-10 license tests, you race the Superflo versions instead of the Exxon GT-One's.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but I just noticed that in the Japanese intro there is a blue Viper with white stripes. It seems that PD cut this colour scheme just before the release of the game (for some unknown reason).

Ah I see...So the surface is asphalt, the grip level is asphalt, but you still have dust behind your car and the dirt surface sound. Thanks for clarifying.

Yes there is :). You can drive the other one in one of the License tests too (S-9 I think).

EDIT: Tree'd by Welsh-Fury.

Yup, it's another PD mess-up. This is because in the JP version of the game Acura is lumped together with Honda, but in the US version Acura is listed as a separate manufacturer under South City. Unfortunately, PD forgot to add Acura to the list of manufacturers next to the flags.

That's really awesome :D. Can you replicate this glitch or was it just a one-off? I'm asking because I almost broke out of Seattle once (in a Subaru 360 no less ), but I'm unable to repeat it. Here's the thread: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=101337

You can break out of Motorsports Land and Laguna Seca (reliably, I might add) as well you know. But you probably discovered that already ;).

EDIT: I just read your next post, I'm gonna try this when I get home :dopey:.

They have ENEOS in Japan ;): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ENEOS

In the past, I used to encountered a bug.

After taking more than 2 races, selecting track other than tahiti road, track preview blackouts. Pushing [X] causes denial tone while pushing [/\] to select drivestyle causes same tone when pushing [X] (version was 1.0)

I initially bought a version 1.0 of GT2, and had similar problems, except they were even worse. I had several incidents where the game would freeze (or black out) right in the middle of a race. After a few weeks, I finally read about the different versions online, went to a game store, and traded up the buggy 1.0 for a 1.2/Greatest Hits edition.

This is gonna sound weird, but I wish I had kept the 1.0, just for the sake of having a fuller collection. :indiff: I saved a few bucks by trading it in, but I kinda wish I still had it. That 5,000 credit carwash (it says 5,000 but really only costs 50) may have had something to do with it. :sly:

I got GT2 on day of issue (or a little before), and so it was 1.0. Somehow later I ended up buying another 1.0, and traded that to Sony for 1.2, and actually had a 1.1 from some other purchase too. So I had all three. Never been a mod chip user, though.

My blackout bug was on arcade disc, you know.

Both of my 1.0 discs used to black out. :indiff:

I also got struck by the garage theif several times (on like 4 different games), although this was admittedly my fault. What's weird about it happened on one of my games (the WEllington family one, actually). The garage got screwed up, but so did all the records as well. Since I was sharing records between all my other cards, why didn't the records on those get screwy? :boggled:

That's one thing I thought was really cool bout GT2...you could share lap time records, test course records, and I think the gold times for licenses. Why did they drop THIS later?

Me neither

you are right, but they shouldn't have put a lap limit.

did any one here did 99+ laps in less than 2 hours ( just to see if it is realy a limit, or just a glitch).
I'm probably poking a dead horse here, but anyway, in the Escudo (in the NTSC version) I completed 99 laps once in about 1 hour 45 minutes, maybe a bit more and the race just ended after that.

:lol::lol::lol: Yes!! Another car is the jaguar xjr. After you buy one, take it in your garage..it'll say jaguar xjr xjr vehicle!!!

....jaguar never made any such car. And then were never so inane to make sure it's customers knew they were about to buy a "vehicle!" :ouch:

roflmao

For godsakes, turn the music off!!!

lol

I only get the sound-breaking-up stuff when I leave the game on when I'm in the GT500 Championship. (like when I leave the game on for a day between races 2 & 3, or 4 & 5 for example.)

I have the reverse problem. The crappy music keeps breaking up rather than the cars. But the menu music still works so I won't turn the music down

I've done the same thing on the Motorsport Park on the Arcade Disk. Problem is I did it with my Lancer so not really a max speed test at all.

First of all, hi, I'm new on this forum :)

I was watching NTSC-U intro of GT2 and i saw this two oddities in it:

Plam Strip (i know it's showed also on the screen where something is racing on Seattle longer track)

But take a look at this, it says Eiger Path! :D :

I was also watching the NTSC-J version of the intro and I found out something that looks like a hidden Mercedes CLK-DTM (i have that car on GT2, thanks to the save i downloaded from http://web.archive.org/web/20080221203449/www.rogs.dial.pipex.com/indexref.htm :D)

Welcome to GTPlanet! :gtpflag:

Could Eiger Path be the pre-cursor to Eiger Norwand? Quite the interesting observation. Because the Norwand isn't my favorite track, I wouldn't mind having Grindelwand back. It's such and amazing track for close battles, the perfect track for Touring Cars.

I've seen the CLK-DTM in action in a video from a video a little while back. Apparently it has good brakes. But when the car was fully completed, I Wonder if the livery would be like the CLRs. The TT LM had the livery from the R8R (or was it the R8C?)

I found a typo.On the Sunday Cup,in the PAL version, instead of saying High Speed Ring,it says High Speed Link.Sorry if this has already been pointed out.

semttuloei.jpg

High Speed Link?Really?

High Speed Link hehe.
Anyone notice the "Plymouth Muscle Car"? Really a 'Cuda me thinks.
And the Venturi 300GT, it says in the info "307hp, but when you look at the buying screen, it says like 200.
