Post any oddities you've noticed in GT 2

Yeah, in the comparos I've been doing I get very familiar with the speeds I can expect to see, and then notice very clearly in the race the effect of drafting. You really don't have to be going very fast, maybe 80mph+, and you don't even need to be very close to draft at high speeds, even what looks like 6-8 car lengths back is close enough for a noticeable effect at like 120mph+. And every track I've tested provides opportunities for drafting at least a little bit. I can usually get a 6-10mph boost in speed at some point.

I noticed something strange today while playing GT2 - I raced at Grindelwald Reverse and on the start/finish line before the first corner the AI cars went mad and began crushing into the barriers. Still, they recovered soon after and managed to finish the race. I guess it's just another bug, but it's a bit odd.

Surprised no one has mentioned the physics-engine-defeating suspension setup for the R30 Silhouette Foumula.

It was good for ~39 second laps around Midfield, IIRC.

I had completely forgotten about this old glitch until I drove the X2010 in GT5. The handling is almost identical.

anyone ever notice, the bouncier the suspension on the Escudo or any 4wd car, the better the handling? if not, make the Escudo as bouncy as possible, and make the brakes as powerful as possible(everything else, just do what you want), and send it around Seattle. you'll never hit a wall, go in the grass, or (hopefully) never hit an AI car.

works even in a Daihatsu Move Aerodown Custom.

[/QUOTE Even in a Daihatsu Move /QUOTE] *getting up after falling off chair*. I thought NOBODY drove those. You're supposed to drive a good car, like the Suzuki Alto Works.... But in all seriousness you are right. Also don't know if this is a bug or not, cars handle the best with impossible in real-life setups. Like a Dodge Charger, with 255 mm rear and 55 mm front ride height with a fair amount of downforce drifts Autumn Ring Mini like a dream. Although it might just be because I'm modifying the car to go outside the limits that are intended to be used for that, thank you gameshark.

God yes! The R30 [R] is still one of the greatest vehicles I have ever driven in any motor-orientated game ever.

In the BMW Dealership select the 528i and check out the horsepower-it'll say 142 hp rather than the actual 192 hp.

I found it odd that the arcade intro of GT2 would have the palm strip track name, along with the other track names on it, even with the drag racing mode hidden.

This is normal; horsepower can fluctuate when from shop to home. ;)
No, what I meant to say was that at the dealership itself it shows 142hp., but when you open up the description when you are still at that dealership it'll say 192hp.

P.S: How can I post screenshots?

Take a snapshot of the screen using print screen, then edit the picture so we can see the game screen only.

Upload the picture to a filehosting site, like photobucket for example. Then find the image url, and copy it.

Use the
tags you see here. Place the URL of the image inbetween them.

Couldn't you just copy and paste, like I did earlier? Also, Xenn the track was to be called Plam Strip, not Palm Strip. Have you driven on the Eigen Loop? The track with no outside borders and no camera views.

I actually wasn't aware Eigen Loop is in GT2. Can it be accessed with a cheat device?

Yes it can. There is a thread on it, let me try to find it, there's a youtube video on it, search secret track on GT2, I'll find you the code and post it, okay?

The ai doesn't work at Eigen Loop (that's what I think the track is anyway), here is a video of the track

Edit: Never mind, I cannot post it, it is being run on a computer with a 🤬.

Delete me please

I'm not sure why the Prius race mod was deleted, but the CVT drivetrain can handle all sorts of power (with a hybrid motor swap, of course) without acting as if it's under-geared. I swapped a TVR Speed 12 motor into the Prius, and it didn't have any trouble hitting 210mph at the end of the main straight at Red Rock Valley. Trouble was, it sound like a vacuum cleaner perpetually running over the same bit of carpet; it was slamming the redline almost the entire way, but it kept gaining speed all the way.

IT's funny to see the Prius become a rather dominant car in some lower races in GT4! The fact that a race-mod for the Prius exists as a code in GT2 suggests perhaps PD was thinking about having Prius-only races (with and without race-mod) which is a bit ridiculous since you can't modify the Prius engine, drivetrain, suspension, etc.

Prius Rally Car?

Anyway, won the Altezza LM.

The little pic when you watch the car talks about the Altezza LM, in my car list it is the Lexus IS 200 LM Edition, and in the race results it is the Toyota IS200 LM Edition

Does this have to do with the Prius Race Mod? You are all right in your opinions! :dopey:

Ha, I'm taking grade 11 University-Prep Physics next year, and still I can't figure out how to insert a youtube video. No biggie, what I find as an oddity in GT2 is the fact that you can get traction control on a muscle car... Who wasn't thinking at PD???

It would be way more fun than the Citroen 2CV races in GT4. At least the Prius has more than 19 horsepower...

It's a shame that they don't follow this idea (of getting the done quickly) now.

You're talking GT5 now? Like they should have rushed it out sooner so it would have been even worse than it was in November? Naw. :odd: It's out. I'm mostly pleased, especially since updates are definitely taking place. Personally I didn't mind the long wait.

I think PD should have waited an extra year to finish GT2. If they could've kept the menu screens like they were in the GT2 demo on the PSunderground disk, that would've persuaded me to buy it immediately. Imagine, 200 less new cars -Kaz said there'd only be 400-, used cars in dealerships -possibly with mileage-, a car wash that actually works, 20 tracks highly detailed- instead of 23 okay tracks-, oh my word! drag racing -also promised-, and also promised was the fact that any car could be used in rally racing -Hey mom! I'm going to take the Del Sol LM to Pikes Peak!... okay son, just be back before 9.- Now back on topic, an oddity in GT2 is the fact that everything promised actually wasn't in the game.

CLK LM would have been nice too. Race mods for all cars would have been welcome, also.

I find it odd that Rome Night was only included for a token license test and in arcade mode. No GT Mode races! A sequel to All-Nights I & II would have been awesome. And Motorsport Land. The glitches there were definitely
odd.

You are right again Parnelli. It would make sense, think about it. If GT2 was released in 2000, it would push the launch of the PS2 back as well most likely. But for all the bugs and glitches that plague GT2, the gameplay makes up for it. This can't be said for most games.

PD is the artist who sits around day dreaming of new possibilites. Sony is the record company who is mostly just interested in profits. 💡

One of the reasons GT5 took so long to be released is Sony allowed PD the time to develop things. From what I understand it was Sony again who pressured GT5's release in late November. But at least we got DLC now.
