I do not know I you guys are angry with me. What I wrote was all true. Microsoft is the best company in game industry, only SEGA is better. Yesterday Microsoft won at E3, an XBOX ONE will be a huge sucess, and probably will sel more than PS4. Microsoft knows what is doing.

By alienating a lot of customers with always-online and the high price, annoying (even angering) much of the gaming community with DRM. Of course, more companies should annoy their core customers! Great job Microsoft!

Oh, Kinect definitely isn't 'the future' unless they drastically improve it. It's been out for over 2 years, and I'm yet to see everybody using it and playing kinect games...

I should add with the Hitler comparison it was the basic principle of a Authoritative figure and how people are influenced by that. As I suggested before the level at which this is present with MS is a long long way off that of the Nazi's or even any less extreme regimes

Which console impressed you most at E3?

Haven't seen the whole of the press conferences, but I have seen segments on youtube of the most important/interesting parts. There were a few good exclusives for each console, but what made Sony's conference for me was their last 10 minutes or so of having a dig at Microsoft and the crowd reaction. It was unlike anything I have ever seen before at an entertainment companies conference, and for that reason I was most impressed with Sony.

Which console are you more likely to buy on the strengths of the E3 presentations?

Being a Playstation boy since the PS1, it was highly likely that I was going to opt for the PS4 whatever the presentations were like. Even so, I must say that the PS4 looks to be the better console from my point of view hands down. The XBOX is just full of silly gimmicks like voice command as well as inconveniences with no aim other than to rip off or indeed 🤬 off their customers. I cannot believe it has become acceptable in Microsoft's minds to charge people £40-50 to effectively 'borrow' a game, as well as charge £400+ for a box which is just an annoying PS4.
I can see the XBOX burning this gen' unless they scrap some of their stupid ideas.

What shortcomings do the consoles have?

PS4

Mandatory PS+, although I suppose it had a certain inevitability, and it is at a reasonable price with a few perks such as the monthly free game and DRIVE-CLUB. Hopefully this spells a better online experience. However, I must admit that I mocked XBOX users for having to pay for an online service, and now I look like a massive 🤬.
I'm not too sure if I like the look of the PS4, however I must applaud them on creating such a small machine.
A lack of exclusives that I am interested in, the only two being Killzone and DRIVE-CLUB. But perhaps that is because i'm too picky.

XBOX

As mentioned above, the ludicrous price tag for an annoying games console with unnecessary features like the 'always online' feature and mandatory Kinect connection. I just cant see why they feel this has to be implemented.
Lack of ability to share or trade games in. People often say "why would you trade your games, the shops rip you off etc." but if a game has no use to you whatsoever, then why not cash in? Just a classic example of a company stripping its customers for every penny they can get.

What advantages do the consoles have?

PS4

Smaller and a little better looking than the XBOX.
A simple, GAMING console, and not a glorified TV set.
Produced by a company which takes it's fans into account, and not ignoring them.

XBOX

Forza.

...so you're giving no credit to the Ancient Aliens? Shame on you.

XB1 before E3; XB1 now

The Xbox One will certainly win the PS4 in next generation.
I do not know what let's you think how a console can win another console. It's not as if the X1 could participate in lotteries or simila... oh *** hang on! :scared:

Apart from the above, I certainly see what you wanted to say.
People said the same about the Xbox 360, but the PS3 took the lead away and theoretically won.
I say the PS4 will certainly "win" the next gen battle.

I say the PS4 will certainly win t
You can't say win't

After what I saw at E3 Microsoft clearly dominated the Sony.
The exclusive Microsoft showed were much better.
HALO 5 will be the best FPS of 2014 for sure. Nuff Said
FORZA 5 is the true next gen Racing Game. Neither Driveclub(arcade,👎) nor GT6(for PS3, LOL) can compete against Forza. The AI will be the best in the best.
Halo didn't even show gameplay and you've never played Forza 5 nor Driveclub, but yeah...
DeadRising3 maybe will be the best zombie game ever made.
I'm sure you said the same about the bad and disappointing Dead Rising 2 game, which was a big fail? Yeah?
MGSV will coming to XBOXONE
And it will also come for PS4, what's the point?
Ryse (is so good) ,
Ryse with it's damn quicktime event earns a "how f:censored: awful is that" award.
Crimson Dragon ( AKA Panzer Dragon),
Looked cheap and the sound didn't even work, are you seriously just listing every single game they showed no matter if good or bad?

MINECRAFt.
I strongly recommend to play this on a PC.

Are better than the exclusives game that will be release on PS4.
The only good two good games that Sony showed KH3 and FFversus XIII, both games will be release on XBOXONE:drool:.
Killzone on X1? Alcohol is no solution mate, stop to drink before posting.

The XBOXONE controller is better than DS4(a controller with a blue light and touch. Are you serious Sony?.)
Are they serious because it has more features? Oh wait, the xbox controller has a trigger rumble feature, uuuuhhhhh!!! Xbox controller using AA batteries is great too, isn't it?

Kinect is the future.

And the XBOXOne design is much better than the PS4. PS4 looks like a toaster:crazy:
X1 the vhs box.

NO USED GAMES? I don't care! I buy my games on Amazon and is always new.
But many do, isn't this a little egoistic from your side?

Always Internet On? I don't care! My Internet connection is fast and good.
It's not the case for everybody, again: Aren't you a bit egoistic by saying this?

500€? It's a fair price If the people are poor, why don't buy a gameboy or a PSP? Or go play flash games on pc.
Now just stop with you damn 🤬 talking! Your attitude stinks to hell. 👎

Region Lock? I don't Care. All games that are release on USA are release in EU.
Which is simply wrong. Mate, stop posting false information!

My choice will be XBOX ONE.
XBOX One is Future.
Of course, they haven't released it yet.

I still don't get why Minecraft is a huge selling point for the Xbone when it is already on the 360.

Plus, you know, the PC version.

Before I wanted an Xbox but wanted to wait and see what it all entailed. After the showings I'm still down for an Xbox around the launch and a PS4 a some point in the future when a couple games come out that I want.

Both systems seem pretty similar to me and will offer many of the same features, it really comes down to the exclusives and the Xbox will have more exclusives I want right away whereas the PS4 won't, and doesn't look like it will have many games on the radar I like for a while. Also with GT6 coming to the PS3, there's no real rush to get a PS4 until March/April when MLB The Show 14 comes out and that's assuming it's not on the PS3 too.

I don't think Microsoft is going to spy on me, I mean I'm not interesting and all they would see is my sitting around in my underpants. The DRM thing really doesn't bother me that much any more considering most PC games are like that now, same goes for the used game thing. The always on doesn't bother me, nor does having to phone home every 24hours. I have a solid Internet connection and will always have a solid Internet connection because I refuse to live anywhere without one.

Are there things about the One that I don't agree with? Sure, but they don't bother me even to prevent me from buying one. Same goes for the PS4 too.

Deep down though, I'm a PC gamer and I will always go to that first.

All I can say is, is that there's a chance the used games issue could crop up on PS4 as DRM is up to the publishers and getting their way on the Xbox One will mean they will loathe to lose that control on the PS4.

In regard to this 24h check-in thing for the XBOX, what happens if you don't check it in, if anyone knows???
It seems poorly thought out, what if you are going on a weeks holiday abroad, then what are you supposed to do? It's not like a pet where you can ask a friend to feed it once a day. I would cringe at having to ask a friend to nip round my house every morning to turn on my XBOX in fear of not being able to use it any more.

As for Kinect 2.0, it can be turned off.

But can it? They said you can turn the features off and not use it, but that doesn't mean it's off. That every-24 hour connection could be sending data to Microsoft, collected from your Kinect system.

Sounds ridiculously paranoid and stupid, I know, but after the recent leaks? It wouldn't be much of a suprise. I'm willing to bet if you look through Microsofts T&C's for the XBONE and Live, there'll probably be something to do with data gathering and the Kinect system...

EDIT:

I think that it's every 24 hours of you playing it, or you'll just have to sign on straight away if you haven't been online in the last 24 hours.

You wont be able to game on it until you log on.

What if for whatever reason 6 months after buying a X1 you lose your job or some other reason makes internet a luxury you cant afford for awhile? Now you cant even play the games you got because the damn thing cant call home.:ill:

I think if you read the ToS of most things that transmit data over the Internet, you'll see some clause about your personal data not really being personal. They might not sell it to third parties, but that doesn't mean they aren't going to use it themselves.

Honestly your mobile phone is probably more intrusive in your life with regards to your privacy than the Xbox One is. I get that people get paranoid over privacy, but if you're concerned then remove yourself from any situation where your data might get compromised (like your mobile phone).

Also if Microsoft really wanted to mine people for data and spy on them, wouldn't they just use Windows? More people in the world use that than will ever use an Xbox.

What if for whatever reason 6 months after buying a X1 you lose your job or some other reason makes internet a luxury you cant afford for awhile? Now you cant even play the games you got because the damn thing cant call home.:ill:

If you lose your job you probably should be looking for a new one, not playing video games.

To my knowledge, all that happens if you don't "check-in" every 24hrs, you won't be able to play any of your games offline.

PS4 before E3; Neither now

I was expecting to get a PS4 when Gran Turismo content comes, like I did with PS3 and GT5P, enjoyed doing time trials and going online before the mainstream of GT5 hits. Did some weeks online in Uncharted 2

Now you need to pay for online I won't be there if GT7P comes out. I have my PC for online, console I don't feel I'll get my moneys worth.

Forza has enough to draw me in without paying for online I have a 360 and Forza 3 but the new console price is bumped up with a device I don't want. GPU is quite weak to manage costs for other stuff, no idea if I need a new wheel. Most of this I knew before E3 so I wasn't interested, wasn't expecting MS to subsidise the costs.
It's a decent system though, dedicated servers, compelling online and interface for those who love online gaming.

I don't know when and what game I want to try online, could be months and months apart. Paying high priced short subs doesn't work and neither does paying a slightly less fee for 12 months when I only get a unknown fraction of the use. I've saved hundreds of pounds this gen not paying.

I've already paid for the game, the system, my ISP which is hosting the game/match. If people want the full cross game chat, skype while you game all bells and whistles multiplayer, partnerships apps then fine. I'd gladly pay if I was one of those guys and would go xbox for sure at this moment.

A gaming focussed xbox One SKU and a limited free PSN solution would change my mind. Also a good wheel solution if needed.

Just skipped to the end of the thread. I don't care too much for the back and fourth that I'm sure is going on I'm sure is going on.

I want to be the unbiased voice in the thread.

Both systems have really compelling reasons to own them. I feel the library on the Xbox side is slightly more appealing for me. Not considering the multi-platform titles, I'm more excited about the Microsoft exclusives. Like Titanfall, which has all my buttons pressed just right. And of course, Killer Instinct: A game I prayed into existance.

With that said I'm interested in inFAMOUS (never played the first two though, and that will have to change), and of course the new Killzone. And DRM free is always the way to go.

But then out of nowhere, the wonderful new Super Smash Bros. reveal with MEGA MAN. I buy Nintendo consoles just for that one game, alone. Seriously.

Looks like I will be getting all three eventually. I follow games, not systems if you can't tell.

Yes, Sega and the Dreamcast were a monumental success, I see Microsoft continuing in their inspiring footsteps at the rate they are going.

And yes, Microsoft won hands down, they probably won the entire internetz, NO WAIT, in fact they won the whole entire world

Hey look, E3 polls:

Why do people honestly care about this stuff? Just buy whatever makes you happy and enjoy.

I thought Microsoft showed some great exclusive games, I thought Sony did very well too. And after the motherload of all that digital information settles in my brain, perhaps I will start the decison making process. Right now I am a blank piece of paper that can go either way.

Honestly your mobile phone is probably more intrusive in your life with regards to your privacy than the Xbox One is.
Ah yes, the mobile phone that listens all the time (rather than just when you use it to make calls) and has a camera that's always on and records in IR as well, combining both to build up a personal profile in my phone manufacturer's record (rather than my service carrier's) that includes my face, my surroundings, my favourite games, my emotional and physical response to various stresses and then uses that to send me targetted advertising.

That sneaky pocket-sized bastard.

Incidentally, "this device is used to ignore your privacy" isn't an argument to allow another one to - it's an argument to reject that device. "Well, Steam games are already like that" isn't an argument to throw away yet more consumer rights - it's an argument to reject Steam. But as the tiresome chaps in the Opinions forum keep pointing out, all you need is a thin end of a wedge to gain acceptance and you can drive it home all you like because folk'll just take it - they're too busy being wowed by ZOMG INTERSTELLAR MAGICVOMIT 7 in glorious 60fps!

My view is not really represented on the poll, but - I was skeptical before (but open to both) and after I'm basically the same however:
-Xbone has too many cons so I'm definitely not buying it.
-PS4 doesn't have the Xbone's cons but doesn't really have any exclusives that make me want to buy it.

PS4 is the only one I'm considering now and it still needs to convince me with some exciting exclusive content otherwise I'll probably be waiting until GT7 comes out.

At this point its looking like I'm finally going to become solely a PC gamer but I may make a PS4 purchase if Sony keep the momentum going to the end of the year.
I don't see the Xbone recovering unless they effectively scrap everything they've announced - which is obviously not going to happen.

Hmm, its going to be a tough decision for me. If it wasn't for paid online it would almost be the perfect package but I am leaning pretty much totally towards PS4 if I am going the console rather than PC route.

+ Cheaper
+ No DRM
+ Region free games
+ User upgradable HDD
+ Compact
+ Camera not a required element
+ Console design and style looks great
+ PS+ account covers all ID's and all devices

- Paid online gaming
- Price doesn't include the camera
- UI looks a little lackluster
- No voice control, AV integration etc
- Console finish looks cheap like super slim PS3
- Nasty headset & HDMI included (don't want, would lower the price excluded)

I think Sony has traded places with MS, the XBone is now the one going for the complete AV package angle whereas the PS4 is a very much back to basics gaming device and has more similarities with the PS2 than 3.

The poll could do with the option of 'still open to both' or 'leaning towards X' rather than definites post E3 but mine would be 'Neither Before E3, Leaning towards PS4 now'

Robin.

Given what we are learning about the PRISM project, I'm not entirely sure what your mobile phone picks up on, but I'm sure it's more than anyone wants to give away. Also I'm sure it's not hard for the NSA to turn on a phone's microphone or camera when on a US cellular network (I'm sure other countries are similar too).

My point is if your worried about your privacy being compromised, having anything that connects out to the Internet is going to put you at risk and at least Microsoft lets you know what it's doing...unlike the feds.

Plus the Xbox's "spying" features can be defeated with a box, that's not very crafty.

Yes, Sega and the Dreamcast were a monumental success,

Dreamcast was the best videogame console on 6th gen. Yes was a failure but have the best game ever. SHENMUEII.
The best 2D fighting games and 2D shooter games were release for Dreamcast.
Jet Set Radio, PSO, Sonic Adventue(best 3D sonic game) Dead Or Alive 2, VF3.
Racing games: Tokyo Extreme Racer, Sega Rally 2, MSR, Sega GT.
You can play on DC Tekken 3, MGS1, Gran Turismo 2 and Half Life.
And had a decent online service.
Dreamcast was a "failure" but was much better than PS2, Xbox and GC.
SEGA was the best game company in late 80's and begin of 90's

And Kinect 2 is ripe for addition to PRISM, once again making it more of a privacy and security risk than a mobile phone...

Until "the feds" serve it with an NSL... Then they get all the data too, without telling you and MS have to deny it.

Or a change to the EULA. Companies do that you know - Sony did it a couple of years ago with OtherOS and there was something of a minor kerfuffle about it. You may remember it.

Having things that already compromise your privacy is not a sound reason to get a new thing that does it more. It's not a selling point and it's not a good thing. It's a bad thing. A very bad thing.

It's still a customer-installed, internet enabled, corporate (and federal) CCTV camera with permanent audio capture and video and IR video capture on demand. At best it'll send you adverts for Lightspeed Briefs, since you like sitting around in your underpants. Or Kleenex, if you're... uhhh... "single". But you have no way of stopping it from having its scope expanded.

I'm almost willing to put £5 at a bookies that Kinect will be responsible for someone's arrest for a crime they commit otherwise undetected in their own home within 12 months, but I doubt they'd take it. I'm also almost willing to put £5 on at least several internet commentators following that arrest up with "Well, if he had nothing to hide..." or "If he was that way inclined, perhaps it's good that he was being monitored".
Plus the Xbox's "spying" features can be defeated with a box, that's not very crafty.
It'd better be a soundproof box that's not IR penetrable. You can defeat the supposedly more intrusive mobile phone's alleged spying features with a tupperware box lined with foil...

Since glass is not IR penetrable, I recommend pointing the Kinect at a mirror. A black one.

Dreamcast had a horrible controller, that was enough for me to pass. Sega made good games but made a slew of bad decisions with their consoles starting with the Saturn then on to the Dreamcast. No way Dreamcast was better than the PS2. Dreamcast barely beat out the Atari Jaguar in console sales. Also, there's way more quality games for the PS2, plus you could play games online, dreamcast never made it that far. The first time I played an online racing game was on the PS2.
