Nice rig. i like how you photoshopped the background to give your pic that clean look. Btw, I have what looks like the same seat with seat cover. I am not sure if yours is comfortable for you already, but I have a suggestion. I bought a cheap mesh lumbar support

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004CFHPGQ/?tag=gtplanet-20

It fits really nice underneath the cover and you can use the opening on each side of the seat to move it up or down for best support.. It has made a huge improvement for my back. Cheers!

Hey Hasido. Thanks! I'll give that a try. Endurance runs are starting to kill my back, and a pillow ain't cutting it.

My man cave when the wife is away. G27 with wheelstand pro and red co-flex to clean up cables, couch to sit on, dog next to me with head on my lap, and 52" JVC HD-ILA tv.

Been working on my rig for a couple days, basing it off of eddy's PVC rig. The thing is, i am only using money I make online from all my websites and other things :)

Thank god homedepot.ca takes Paypal :D

Doing alot of my own things though, buttons/switches/keyboard stand, maybe a hand brake, and some other things.

Greetings All! I am fairly new to the forum

Here is my compact, lightweight, sliding, affordable rig:

1) Simseat Sr1 with reverse mount attachment ( approx $270 with shipping)

2) Modded brake pedal for progressive(custom)

3) Handbrake system(custom)

4) Cheap 320mm wheel using Chilicoke adapter for G27. Attached the buttons to the paddles to keep functionality.

5) Modded shifter for resistance with real shift nob

6) Padded Seat cover for gokart seat with adjustable lumbar support ( really comfortable)

7) Buttkicker braced to directly vibrate seat and also the wheel, brakes, shifter ( this makes a big difference)

8) 3d tv with 5.1 surround sound

Overall, for the price, I am very happy with this set up. However,
hopefully one day, I can afford a motion sim rig. :)

Does the center bar get in the way of using clutch gas and brake? I was looking to modify my frame a little if it was...but I only have a dfgt, so I don't really know what it's like with three pedals.

Center bar was a big no for me. Biggest reason for me building custom cockpits. Pedal angles and center bars.

wheel stand is a modified high chair from when my daughter was little.
seat is out of one of my old racing karts.
TV: 65" mitsubishi 1080 dlp
Surround: sony bravia 5.1

Not pictured.
Subwoofer sits on seat frame behind the seat
pedals have a riser installed under the back feet, raising the angle about 30*
hard mounted the wheel with metal plates. i can removeit quickly for travel.

Near future plans.
build a removeable mount for flipped CSP's (sketched up)
maybe some cable management, although i have them alot cleaner than in these pics.

Future plans
full cockpit. , i have a large storage area in my house where i plan on triple screening , cockpit. already have 2 ps3s. now i need monitors. really just waiting on a handbrake and cs shifter so I can finish up the design.
Button box, already essentially built, just need to wire it.

sorry for the cell phone pics, and if they are huge i also apologize. Im new to the whole hosting thing.

this pic shows the padded armrest and hard mounted shifter.
also the temporary mouot for a move navigation controller.
i have the nav controller thumbstick set to look left and right, pull back for ebrake. and a couple other functions. the triggers are also set for shift up and down, its nice having ebrake and shifters together.

works great for me. Being two seperate piecesallows for easy movement and storage. Also I can bring it out to friends houses.
wheel stand weighs about 30-35lbs with everything on it. Seat is bout 15lbs.

Ozone,

I forget there is a center post when playing. I don't think i have ever played and thought, dang! wished this bar wasn't in the way. I can perform heel toe shift, or left foot braking without a hitch. However, a no center post design is still ideal since real cars don't have it.

Thanks for the info :) Will have to snag a g25/27 and try it for myself before making big fab work to my existing frame.

Wasn't going to post mine, it just looks terrible. But seeing people using Ironing boards (Which is epic BTW) I though I may as well. I will soon be getting a wheel stand and a G25/27 wheel, but this is it what it looks like 5 minutes ago :dopey: :

34' Sony HDTV(4-5 years old now)
Sony Surround System(Around 8 years old but still sounds great!)
Homemade wheelstand(works well but will need some rubber on the bottom)
22 year-old La-z-boy recliner(I wish my car seat was this comfortable)
GT3RSv2 with ClubSport pedals

The only thing that needs improvement is my wheelstand. It does move while I race but not as much as it used to when it was 2" higher in height. Love the look of wood grains in black.

Oh...your footboard will drift when you doing a intense drive

Guys, Guys, Guys!!!! These are Insane!!! I have been Considering a Box Style rig, but this has turned my view completely.....mind**** with all the Rigs....Ironing Board FTW hahaha
Anyhow, i will be posting the stages of my build withing the month :)

Here's my setup/man cave. I love it.👍

30082011028.jpg

57" Toshiba Projection Cost:$119 for new mirror that I broke when I moved it.

30082011029.jpg

(Kind of) surround sound from my 800W Sony stereo (has 2 side speaks, 2 rear, and a woofer)

30082011031.jpg

I actually painted that guitar, started with a dented strat knock off, replaced the coils to fender ones, sanded and stripped to bare wood, primered, and sprayed gloss black, and Sassy Sassy Green (Hemi Cuda Color). Yes it has my name on the headstock.

30082011033.jpg

Folding fully adjustable cockpit Cost: $250

30082011040.jpg

With Sparco Sprint Cost: $120

30082011034.jpg

G27 of course (could you tell?) Cost: $300 used

30082011036.jpg

Starting from the ground up:
Pedal Set: Replaced brake pedal spring with stiffer spring, swapped original brake spring to clutch pedal Cost $12

30082011037.jpg

Shifter: Reactive Shiftknob, and e-brake mod inaccordance with chilicoke dot com Cost:$30

30082011038.jpg

Wheel: 320mm Reactive Wheel, mounted on homemade adapter
Cost:$50

30082011041.jpg

Might have made it out of a cutting board lol

30082011039.jpg

And of coarse no man-cave is complete without a GT shrine!

30082011042.jpg

Or a drift gecko!

30082011043.jpg

He'll save you money on tires, just don't ask for insurance, he ain't no Gieco gecko.

Thanks drummermaniac!

And when I'm not allowed to use the big screen in the living room, I'll take the cockpit back into my office.

Loskey1, it's a generic seat I got from eBay.

For those familiar with my setup, it is the Sparco GT Cockpit that was the official rig for GT4 at the time. I've had this for over 5 years. The Sparco seat that originally came with the cockpit sat in a fantastic seating position, but would hurt my back after about 15 min of driving. So I picked up a random seat on eBay, and having sliders and angle adjustment was a big plus. I've been pretty happy since then.

School will be keeping me occupied for the next few months, so I'll most likely look into the T500rs and TH8rs during Christmas season.

Sweet setup man!
I recognized the Sparco racing cockpit right away, I've had mine for about five years as well .

I'd say with the thickness of wood you have for a base of the seat. That is where I would attach a bracket of sorts. Might be something best made of metal. Keep it simple yet sturdy doing to.

Best to have three points of mounting this will provide a sturdy mounting. Anything less will have wobble in at least on direction. Bar the fact it uses a large surface to mate to base.

Thx for the tip on shifter mount! Can't wait to get hands on TH8 RS

+1 on mounting to seat base. Your set up is similar to mine a page or so back. When i made the shifter mount i basically incorporated it into a newly boxed armrest and screwed that whole thing to my seat base. This way it is module and i can upgrade to a next gen shifter without having to redo my seat base.
Hopefully by then ill have a more permanent rig tho ;)
