Walmart has an incredibly nice Broyhill chair for $100. Height adjustable, "pleather," and very comfortable. I picked it up to use in the study at my desk.

It's not available online but they may have it in stock at your store.

I really don't want a chair on wheels that is going to move at all when playing.

Also,

You could always just add a steel frame base to it similar to the Playseat design.

This is what I am looking for. Does Playseat sell just the base (although im not sure that would be tall enough) of the seat or is there something else that I could get that would do the same thing?

I meant you could attach the Broyhill to a Playseat base lol. Sorry, should have been more specific.

That I am not sure on. You could always call their customer service and see if it is a possibility, or you could probably just make one out of scrap metal. I can send you detailed pictures if you would like, however mine is in the process of being painted and wrapped in vinyl; but, if you can deal with that than I don't mind doing it.

Edit: Like you said, I don't think it would be tall enough, but you could just increase the height with a larger base.

The easiest thing I can think of would be a large wooden box reinforced with steel cross members.

I see what you mean. Maybe I could find another cheap chair without wheels that I would be able to disassemble the bottom and stick it on a racing seat.

I would build one if I had the space and tools to do it with but I live in a 1 bedroom condo so I don't have a workshop or anything like that.

Thanks for the ideas though. I'm going to have to go check out some chairs.

No problem. You could search for a local metal shop and see if they would do some work for you.

You could also check out welder's forums and see if there is a local that will do it in his spare time. Out of garage work is usually the cheapest.

Sorry I keep editing and adding but I keep thinking of stuff:

You could cut a foot or so off the support legs of that desk to lower the top...

I finally took a couple pics of my setup. I just want to get a racing seat and then attach some legs of some sort to it for the height I need. Just need it to be about the same height has the chair in the picture below. Ideas anyone?

Corbeau sells a base for their race seats for 65 dollars. Their race seats are around 300 dollars.

Here's mine. Vizio 47 inch, Sony surround sound, Fanatec Carrera wheel and Corbeau race seat.

At work now, think its just cobeau.com. I'll check when I get in tonite

Nevermind I just found it. Thanks! I just wish it had the dimensions. It looks just a tad on the low side but nothing that couldn't easily be altered.

Only problem is it doesn't look like you can order it from them.

Edit: Found it here. Now I just need to hold off until I have the extra funds.http://www.racing-seats-online.com/t/products/corbeau-accessories/p/gaming-base

I like that. I wonder if I can get it shipped to Tokyo...

Logitech sound - I'm now using my Turtle beach PX5's so the surrround doesn't really get used now adays. The front speaker stands are made from carbon fibre rods and the rear ones have carbon fibre mounts on stainless steel poles. All in all took me about a weekend to make and cover the box section and make the 4 speaker stands

I made the chequred flag box section to hide all the cables (it hate seeing cables all over the place)

Cheers

I voted awesome :) Obviously tons of labor involved, a labor of love perhaps?

I have seen some amazing setups in here. Im just waiting for someone to an actual car for their rig. Take out the factory wheel column and replace it with the base of a gaming one and take out all the windows and replace them with TV screens. 👍 Major credit to all of you with these outrageous rigs.

I made some changes to my humble rig, this beast started life as a high chair for my daughter.💡

I am in process of designing a more permanent rig. Just slowly trying to get all the pieces together. I have cannibalized a pickup truck for its bed racks. scored me 2 8 ft aluminum rails with four slideable uprights and 2 6 foot aluminum rails with for slides mounted to it. But any who..... im getting ahead of my self and when that project starts itll get its own thread. I wont start it till I have EVERYTHING needed including 1 more ps and 3 monitors 👎

Now for the minor updates i made

This pic shows the plate i made to raise the angle of the csp if they are floor mounted, I may invert them in the new rig, but am not sure yet. This angle with the seat position i have is fantastic for me. The plate is fairly easy to adjust by loosening the butterflys and turning the threaded rod.

The next couple pics show the mount I made from an old lamp for my move controller, which I painted to match the lamp. Also the stock shifter felt kind of cheap so I used some chrome plated tubing and sleeved the shifter post and mounted a cheap faux CF shift knob to it. The shifter also has the silent mod done with a piece of plexiglass as well as being stuffed solid with foam. zip ties are only temporary :)

this pic shows the new location for the ps2 port on the shifter, now that i have found a 6 foot cable i will prob revert it back to its original position, or hard mount the shifter from the bottom and cut the chopstick area off so i can put a proper boot on it. dont mind the hole in it with the wires coming out. I had a button wired for an ebrake that i have since removed because of using the move controller.

As close as I could get to a drivers Eye view. pic was taken through the 5 point harness slot in the back of the seat. no I dont use the harness, nor is it mounted. maybe the next rig :)
