Practice Mode and Damage!?!?!?!

the funny thing is the car doesn't look damaged at all and it's specs don't show any decrease in performance...also the engine says it doesn't need any repairs.

What does fixing the chassis rigidity even do? Is it even worth it for me to bother repairing the $400,000 bill? i don't notice a change in performance when driving the car even with that huge repair bill.

makes me feel better as I'm not back home until Friday.. I've a 3 hour drive... its going to be the fastest 3 hour drive ever to play this game!!

I thought something that may be able to help me solve my problem but I'd like some input first. If I was to buy a new chassis system for the '62 Buick that I wrecked would that remove the insanely damaged one that I don't want to repair? Or will the damage costs carry over to the new chassis? Anyone know the answer to this?

How about this...I'm assuming you can buy the '62 Buick again for a lower price than fixing it? Why don't you just trash your messed up one and sell it and just farm the credits again for a new one? Just think of it as an expensive lesson from PD to be nice to your cars in GT and in real life. :)

I won the Buick in a race so I don't know if it's purchasable...

If it is, what are the chances I'll find it in the used car dealership? Also, what are the chances I'll find one with low mileage and that doesn't need repairs? What if the used one costs more to repair because it's so used? lol

Oh dang...the general rule right now is to not sell your Prize cars as they are one of a kind. Once you sell them, you won't be able to win another one back. Don't worry mate, you've just learned a $372,000 credit lesson. :dopey:

I have just encountered the same issue! Took a brand new car for a practice run and crashed twice. Now the body rigidy fee is $20k!!

Is it just practice mode? Or does it apply to any crash you have in GT life

I was running the GameStop Camry at Trial Mountain in FR Challenge and I ran the last corner too hard and flipped 3 times. Yet the car was fine.

This makes no sense.

Of all the places that shouldn't have damage carry over, Practice mode would be it. Yet this appears to be the only place that damage actually does anything?

Not to mention the fact that the cares look absolutely showroom, yet they're apparently almost totaled under the body?

WTF?

I've smashed my Miata (Eunos roadster) up quite a bit in GT Life, mostly due to the AI coming down an pit-maneuvering me around corners. I'll have to check and see if it says I need a chassis refreshing, but I guarantee I'm not spending the cash on it anyway:sly:

Well My Subaru Impreza '05 which i crashed a bit in practice had a 20.000 Credits Body Regidity Fee, Which i paid for thinking: It's just 20.000.

Then i Checked on my Lancia Delta HF Intergrale Evolution in which i did the first rally events. Turns out that has a 28.000 Credits Body Regidity Fee, Which i refuse to pay for the simple fact is unknown what where actually paying for.
Because the car still feels brand new.

After that i checked on my Subaru Impreza '10 which hadn't been crashed at all as far as i know, And that had a Body Regidity Fee of 18,500.

That made me wonder about my startercar the Mazda Autozam AZ-1 wich had only been used for 3 races (All clean, No crashing, No bumping cars.)
Body Rigidity Fee: 7.000.

So i don't know about you guys, But untill an insider clears things up about why we need to pay crazy fee's anyways.
I ain't spending a single credit on it anymore.

Question:

Can I go back to download the GT data after I choose not to? I want to play the game and I don't want to wait after the first update and then full game install to drive a car.

There is an option to install game data in options menu, i did it.
Also if you dont install the game data, it slowly installs it as you use the tracks and cars anyway.

Practice?! We're talkin bout PRACTICE?

Seriously, OUCH.

I think they stole that idea from me. I wrote that thread years ago. Never thought they'd read it and take me seriously, lol.

Note to self, do not TEST damage.

Practice is WITHIN GT LIFE. As always.

Arcade mode is where you do not own cars(except maybe Favorites if anyone wants to take the risk to find out.) and where you can test damage.

@Sato the Lancia rally damage is interesting, its a Premium car, so you bought it new, no miles no damage, but maybe you didnt tune its suspension to handle the vigors of gravel and snow driving.

Interesting.

$20,000 is nothing! you make me sick!

Buy a cheapo brand new car and see if it already charges the fee in any of the modes.

BTW I can't play the game yet, studying for final exam tomorrow

Something weird is going on. I crashed my buick up some more during an a-spec race and the chassis rigidity fee hasn't changed, yet it is at almost $400,000 after crashing in practice mode!?!?! Does that mean only practice mode has an effect on damage?

Also, can someone please see if perhaps the '62 buick costs $362,500 to repair chassis rigidity from the get go?

Maybe me crashing it didn't do anything to the costs and it always cost $362,500...

Please someone who hasn't yet won the '62 Buick check if chassis repairs cost $362,500 before driving it.

Really...hmmm...I took my CE Lambo out for Sunday Cup for some road rage after doing the license tests. Obviously smashed into a few cars here and there. At the end of the day, only 500CR needed for chassis fix. I will also do another check on my Impreza, which is brand new and costs 0 to fix. I'll take it for one clean race, completely clean, and see what numbers I get.

Maybe there's a limit to how screwed up it can get and you hit that limit in practice mode and it comes to $362,500.

No offence but I think this is absolutely fantastic

Its a nice little touch that adds to the realism :sly:.

Bad luck though many will learn from your misfortune AND I doubt your going to be reckless with a car again :indiff:.

It would be fantastic if we could actually have mechanical damage that effected how our cars behaved, not just getting a bill for it.

yeah what happened to all the quotes i read about how your engine could stall out or lose hp....or your car would creep to one direction if you slammed it on a certain side.

i royally wrecked my '62 Buick and nothing has changed whatsoever except the bill to fix the chassis.

This has to be a bug. It seems like a feature they partially removed at the last second. There's not even a warning to let you know that crashing your car will result in expensive repair bills. I don't remember any of the other GT games having such a thing so how are we to know?

Do the special events. Getting golds isn't that hard, but they reward with credits VERY well. Got 500,000 and only on lv9

i'm not wasting my hard earned cash on fixing this thing. mostly because it doesn't seem to effect the car AT ALL. the only thing that changed was the bill. car still looks and performs the same as when i first got it and all the specs are the same....so whats the point of repairing damage? the only real thing about "the real driving simulator" is that repairs are expensive.
