Problems So FarPS4

This is the problem. Out of the 15-20 friends I used to race with only 1 has AC and the rest are not interested in getting AC until there are private lobbies. For me (and I am sure others) it is a catch 22 situation.

I have even gone back to racing on PCARS so I can have some online fun and think I will end up back on GT6 where the majority of my friends still race.

My perfect game would be the physics of AC, the tracks from PCARS and the online from GT6 (minus the not seeing people from time to time)
GT online was done well with the exception of getting stuck on the loading screen as well as what you mentioned. Another thing that bugged me was the chat box and that you couldn't disable it. I found it very distracting during a race. Which brings me on to something that bugs me with AC though n8t the games fault. When the race starts half of the muppets crash before they even cross the start line, then you repeatedly see this message "restart session, muppets want another crack at it" er no gtfo or learn to drive.

Is it likely these are the ones with no clutches or heavy footers? Personally I'd love it if the game was like real life. Not enough power and you've stalled the car. rFactor had it.

Hit the sand/gravel never got to the clutch quick enough and it has stalled. Or stalled trying to get out of the gravel. At the same time a button control to start the car. Just like rFactor. Unlike the open wheelers, you've stalled it, race over.

The wait time for the Porsche RSR race on the Nordschleife Endurance layout to actually start once qualifying is done is ridiculous. I don't know how long it actually is because I gave it at least 25-30 mins after the qualifying timer counted down before giving up. Shame because the car is great and its a great track to race them on, but I'm not waiting my entire evening for it!!

It seems the game has a post-qualifying timer that is connected to the typical laptime or something so people can finish their lap in reasonable time.

Indeed, the game lets drivers finish their lap. If a muppet is not finishing his lap, you could be there for a while. At this point you can request to skip the session (provided the other drivers vote in favour).

Ouch, how did they miss that or is their test team not that good with the limited number they have?
I'd like to know Sony's patch-testing methods. If Kunos sent the patch to them one would assume whoever tested it before release didn't even use a steering wheel, for a sim racer, and so didn't find the DOR and mapping issues we face. Surely a team tests patches or I wonder if it's just one guy per game? Although you'd think Kunos would've tested it first... Always strange how such glaringly obvious (to the players come release) bugs are not seen... and trampled underfoot.

How would Sony know what they're looking for? Looking at the ones here saying there are bugs with the sound when the turbo was too high.

So many scenarios to wade through...

Look at even some PSN regions tech support didn't know there was a DLC on route.

Sometimes I feel like the early days of getting into my computer life dealing with tech support. No speaky no freakin engrish! Ich bin schell!

Yeah I guess. In an ideal world there would be someone working there who is 'the racing game tester guy' who would set up his wheel and immediately notice the DOR doesn't match and he has to reset his wheel every time. Lol no chance though.

Also makes you wonder what Microsoft picked up during their testing.

What they are mostly looking for is unlicensed or illegal content that could get them in legal trouble. The quality of the game is the least of their concern. The games sold, moneys in the bank, now their just trying to protect it.

Sony tests games? That would surprise me.

As a software tester, stop blaming the testers! :D

So they still exist? :P

So it is that just drivers who haven't completed a lap yet that delay the race start? Because I have gone back out on track after the qualifying has ended and then after a certain time it just throws you onto the grid.

That's correct. But it's good that it does that. Wouldn't you be annoyed if you couldn't finish your lap like it is allowed in real life?

Has anyone had trouble with downshifts not happening sometimes? (PS4) I have a T300, thought it was my wheel but it seems to only happen at the same corners every lap, only makes sense that it's the game. Sometimes it will do nothing for 2 clicks of the paddle in a row.

Having spent a lot of time with the game over the last few days (vs. the usual zero) I'm noticing a lot of the sound glitches everyone moans about. The wheel degrees of rotation thing is painful, too.

You're not the only one, but it's not the case for everyone. I don't get it on a T300 but @Carlos Fandango has been complaining about it and he has a Fanatec.

I meant @C Fandango...

I've had it too. Takes 2 quick presses sometimes as the first doesn't register. Upshifts are fine.

GT had the worst online of any game I've ever experienced. Often hard to connect, invisible cars, massive lag in some cars, seemingly random disconnections etc. Issues I've rarely had in any other game.

Yeah me to on T300
Are you guys sure that isn't the downshift protection being activated? You can't downshift with paddles until you hit a certain rev range. Off the top of my head, take the car you're having trouble with, and sit in the pits and run up and down through the gears while stationary. If you have the issue then, I'd say it's definitely a game issue. If not, it might be simply downshift protection kicking in. It's caught me out more than a few times. Keep in mind too that in street cars you don't always have even gear spacing and some of the lower gears are quite short meaning you have to wait a little longer to downshift than you would with a race car which is much more evenly spaced.

My experience too, losing connection, rejoining the lobby then getting stuck on loading screen was the most frequently annoying thing. The way the lobbies were set were wll done, it was just the execution of it was poor. Invisible cars during a league was a nightmare.

GT6 had problems but GT5 online was stable during all the months I used it. AC online on PS4 has been stable for me too, but the framerate is too inconsistent. Yesterday I was in a room running so flawlessly that I could hardly tell I was playing through a server. Today I entered another room and the framerate was just barely acceptable. I doubt it's a connection issue because I see no lagging opponents.

I thought about that momentarily, but no. I've had it where the revs were bottoming out and it still wouldn't shift.

And regarding nightmare GT6 connection issues, I think they eventually fixed some of that, but a lot of that improvement for me coincided with going to a wired connection. But yea, inexcusably terrible regardless. I don't know how I got hooked in the midst of that.

I'm sure it's not due to downshift protection. It's caught me by surprise a couple of times since the patch in cars that I've driven a lot. Annoying when you want to brake and downshift into a corner to help turn the car but the moment has passed as the first click does nothing. I was playing with my mate this week and made a point of saying to him something felt off with the shifting.

Going to a CAT6 connection from wireless made all the difference in GT for me as well.
