Just a quick update. We received our replacement console this morning, and all seems fine so far. It was made 25th Janurary this year, so it isn't completely new... but who knows. I'll play some games on it later today it see if everything is working properly (finally, Saints Row!). :)
Just a heads up. Dont be surprised if your 360 freezes up a couple times with Saints row. Its not your 360, Saints row is just a glitchy game. A really fun glitchy game. My 360 froze up twice with Saints row. So far thats the only game that has made my 360 freeze up and get noisy at times. Especially some of the "racing locations". Other than that I really have no problems at all even when I played for 6 days straight a few weeks ago.

Ok, thanks for the heads-up. 👍 I'm sure Oblivion does that too as it crashes on my brother occationally.

I just found out this new console has the later Samsung DVD drive too, so it's quieter. :) Just DON'T play up on us again.

Good luck with your new console! 👍 Mine game me another E74 error. Stupid error regarding the AV cables. I think I may try calling MS today and see what they have to say about it.

So I finally decided to take the time and call Xbox Support today. I am going to have the console repaired. The box they are sending sure as hell better get here in four days . . . not that I have a whole lot of time to play the thing anyways. Stupid school is keeping me busy all the damn time. Oh well, hopefully when this console gets repaired (or they send me a replacement . . . whichever happens), it won't have any problems and I won't have to worry about it.

So far I haven't had any major problems, I have had the 3 red light problem but that was after a brown out and the power came back to the system, I have had problems with online play and the dashboard freezing the console, the only real loud noise I have heard is when playing NFS Most Wanted(I bought this game today so it worries me), this game seems to make the disk drive go crazy with noise and makes me uneasy, it doesn't seem to do this with any other disk.

I think most problems come from software issues (this is my personal thoughts so don't jump down my throat lol), of course I waited a while to buy my 360 so all the "newer" problematic were long sold out, who knows I may have to send my 360 in to MS.

In the two weeks I have had mine, the only problem (thus far) has been the menu thingy (the one that comes up when you press the center button) freezing over the game while I am in an online game.

...Other than that, everything works great...

I've got exactly the same problem as yours esp in PGR3

Well as an update, it has been about four months now and the problems have been minimal. I keep the 360 as clean as possible with the occasional wipe down with a cloth, checking the vents for dust, but always run the 360 in an open-air situation. Overheating has yet to be a problem, presumably because I keep it in that open-air spot, the "power brick" in an open spot as well, making sure that it has plenty of air to circulate.

Problems of late have been spotty. Battery life with the controller seems to be a problem, going through a set a month or so (depending on how often I play), but I really can't complain too much. Outside of that, there have been some frustrations with connecting my iPod Mini to the 360, but nothing that I haven't been able to sort out.

As for Saints Row, I've had the problems before. Although it was my brother who rented the game, it froze once on me, and I belive once on him as well. Although I wouldn't call it a "huge" problem, as the GTA titles on the PS2 had the same problems quite often, but it is a dissapointment no less.

Overall, the biggest issue for me has been the lack of that "awesome" game that I must have. Granted, PGR3 was the first great one, but after that... Well, I'm still waiting. I almost bought TDU today, but I decided to wait for my Birthday before I do anything. That way, I've still got Crackdown, Just Cause, Gears of War, Call of Duty 3 (or is that 2007?), and maybe Forza 2 in time for January.

Sounds like you got yourself a good system! That is definitely a good thing. 👍 Maybe it is just the Saints Row game that has a problem. Hopefully after I send mine in and get it back, it will be a good one. I figured since I have had an error and all my games freeze, something had to be a problem.

Have you tried GRAW? It is a very good game.

Just a side-comment about this. It has an awesome single player, but once you're finished with that, and you don't want to go through the hard mode on it, it becomes trade-in fodder. The online is full of slow-loading, team killers/spawn campers, and half the time you start a game you get cut off. 👎 The only good thing about it is that it's good as a get-together game where you and your friends can have fun in.

And that is exactly what I was going at, as I still have yet to hook my 360 up to Live. Have not figured out how I am going to connect it to my router. Since it is going to be sent off soon, I will not be figuring it out any time soon and even after I get it back, I probably will not be figuring it out any time soon. Class has me too busy at the moment and I do not see spending money for a Live subscription worth it at the moment because of the lack of time.

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360playchargekit/ This is a cheap and effective solution,it charges in short time, you can switch off the 360 and the system will go into sleep mode and only charge the battery on the control(the fan runs too but it's much less power usage when compaired to full operation) it lasts a long time too, you will get the usual blinking on the controller as it gets low(I'm pretty sure it does this with normal batteries too but I forget), you can plug it in as you're playing which is a nice touch for online play.

EXACTLY! I bought that "play and charge kit" for my 360 and it was a great investment. I am shocked how long that little pack will stay charged. Then it only takes about an hour WHILE YOU PLAY for it to charge back up. Heather is using rechargable batteries for her 360 but I plan on getting the "Play and charge kit" for her very soon.

I did that once, and when I removed the kit, the battery lasted a whole five minutes. To me, it's about as useful as a pet fly.

If you just bought it they will evenly trade it just like with any other electronic device.

I know, but it came with a bundle several months ago. When I returned my 360 for a new one, I exchanged all the stuff that came with it too. And then I just decided to sell the kit and call it a day.

My replacement 360 will no longer boot. I've had it since August 21. It replaced my 360 that was hit by lightning. This one has already been to the repair center and was sent to me as a replacement. It is a launch console...

I started playing GRAW, and its allright. I'm not a huge fan of tactical shooters myself, but I was having fun. My problem has been that because I don't have an HDTV, I'm having a harder time seeing/reading things on screen... Not that it completely writes the game off, but it makes some aspects a bit more challenging.

Pretty much I'm saving my money for this Holiday Season. Gears of War will be my big thing for a while, same with Rainbow Six: Vegas, COD3 (if it is out before the end of the year...), etc... Although the lack of Forza is indeed a dissapointment, TDU is still on my list of things to buy before the end of the year...

Please guys, keep the GRAW discussion in an appropriate thread. It isn't a problem with your 360.

Well, it was origionally a reply to a question about GRAW, but alas it was indeed a tangent in which we shouldn't be getting into...

I've had no problems with mine but there is a major fault.

I can't get the stupid thing on live. the £60 wireless adaptor is my last hope...

Hmmm, odd. The 360 should automatically connect when it detects any kind of connection, so the question becomes about the router that you are using. Is there some kind of firewall protection on it that requires a password of some sort? It may be blocking the address of the 360 because it does not recognise it, and that is something that should be able to be adjusted through the intranet that is built into the hardware... Or atleast thats what I would have to do here...

I know my Aunt has a similar thing going on at her house, as I often go there to "borrow" here 42" Plasma to play PGR3, etc. Her wireless hookup will not allow me to access the system without some codes that I have no idea how to work with... Her wireless system was set up by her IT friend, he set the passwords, she doesn't know them.

If your router is secured with a password, it doesn't directly automatically connect with it. You might see it for a few seconds, then it disappears. Like you said, there's a menu somewhere where you search for all networks, select your own, put your password in and it works. It took forever to find it the other day with our new console, as there had been that dashboard layout upgrade since the last time we done it... I'm no fan of the new layout at all. Oh well.

I'm on BT Broadband here in the UK and I have an iMac with full internet sharing selected and a Cat 5e cable. It recognises the cable is plugged in, but can't get an IP address. When I get paid, I'm going to get the £60 wireless adaptor. It better work or I'll cry. I've followed Mac tips to connect it, but for me nothing. Maybe my Cat 5e wasn't a crossover but a normal cable.
