I use my old PS3 Sony 7.1 headset and don't have any problem at all. Yes, sound a bit less than in PC1, but I would say difference is no more 10-15 percent and in PC2 I use no more 50 percent overall volume on headset, but if private chat is on, volume is much quitier and I must rice it up to 80 percent or more.
How does that old headset work? Wireless? USB? Headphone jack into joystick?

wireless with USB dongle, or wired with USB cable

Another thing I like I can adjust game/chat volume or mute one of them when need

yeah, my headset doesn't have that option.
Can you try the headset on both wireless and wired? Is wireless louder than wired? Or the opposite?

It's all nice and dandy but it doesn't make any sense to buy a 250$+ headphones just to be able to have a decent audio experience in one single game, while all of my other games are decently loud.

I have an HyperX Cloud 2 headphones which have its own small amp/VSS7.1 dongle built-in. It's a decent headphones.
All of my complainings are while VSS7.1 and amp are turned ON! If I turn that one off, it goes even quieter.

I feel guys that you're defending the game and trying to hint that it's the hardware fault. I really don't get you.
Again, I can not play assetto corsa or dirt rally on max volume because it hurts my ears while project cars 2 is low. There's just no excuse for that.
Not really defending it. Just stating my experiences and trying to offer solutions.

There seems to be a theme in this discussion that it is mainly the sound from the usb that is the worst, hence my suggestion as it also used the optical.

Having said that, i have a racing buddy who recently bought the steel series arctis 7 wireless headset which is connected via a wireless transmitter that only uses the ps4 usb. He says he had no volume issue either. That leads me to 3 possible conclusions:

1 we are not all experiencing the same issue, in the same way we are not all experiencing the blue screen of death post patch 4.

2 it IS hardware specific.

3 some of us are already deaf ;)

If the truth is 1 then i would hope for a patch from sms but if it is 2 or 3 you might be waiting for a solution that never comes. Is that acceptable? Probably not, but it might be reality. So you have the choice to wait and see or find a workaround yourself.

Sorry I was wrong, my headset works only in wireless mode, USB cable is for charging only and headset doesn't work if USB dongle is not connected. I thought it work in wired mode too, because I see a small difference when USB cable is connected (sound is a bit quitier), so I thought it is a wired connection mode :)
In reality I don't need wired connection because headset works perfectly on PS4 and PC - I need only connect a USB dongle.

I would like to add that since patch 4 I've been hearing a noise on the background when driving, like a static noise. Not all the time, intermittent.

I tried with two different sony headphones but same result.

Will try to capture it if possible.

Oh good, i thought it was just me... it almost sounds like feedback but it is definitely the game as it affects engine noise and all game sounds at the same time... it is exactly as you said, an odd static sound comes through the audio every once and a while, headphones and TV speakers...

Though I was just hearing things, thank goodness I am not!

It happens with AV systems as well, not all cars however.

I get you man. It's nothing personal :)
But let me clarify some things on my side:
-Yes USB sound output is a bit quieter than "headphone jack in DS4" or "wireless" methods. I have tried it and can confirm that a USB output at max volume is like 3 clicks down from max volume of the other 2 methods.
-However, I play dirt rally and assetto corsa the same way I play project cars 2: USB max volume headphones.
While DR and AC blow my ears, PC2 doesn't, not even close. Very low volume.
As simple as that.
Yes I can buy a huge amp or some advanced audio **** to get it loud enough to get the building shaking and I can do lots of stuff, but that's not the issue.
The issue is that this game is pretty low, compared to other games, on the same hardware and settings and headphones and TV and just everything. There's no way around that.

I get it too. I was wondering if it was intentional. I noticed it on the 911 gt3 in an online race a little bit. Then I took damage and it was noticeably worse, making me think out is something they have modeled (perhaps not working correctly though).

I also get it in my Honda IndyCar around Indy oval and i have been trying to align the sound to the telemetry to figure out if it supposed to be representing something but i can't see anything.

I don't know

I was trying to take some photos, today, from replay of Lotus 25 race. The car had no drivers, so seems a little strange.

Could it be the wind sound since when you took damage the sound increased?! I mean wind around body ( aero) ?!

Does anyone know how to solve the issue of TC and ABS turning off/on from qualifying to the race online?

A couple of guys in my league have been noticing that in qually their TC is on and they can set some good laps, then in the race, the TC is turned off by the game and is unavailable to turn back on, therefore ruining their race...

Map a button for TC and ABS. As far as a fix I’m not sure.

Like I said, it becomes unavailable in the session, as in it cannot be turned on again... this is what I've been told, I don' run abs or TC so I never notice... however when I've been told it is disabled, I am unable to try and turn it on myself as well...

So you are saying it is off on the hud and even if you press the button to turn it on to low or high it won’t turn on? I haven’t had that happen at all or heard of that happening, unless it’s not available from assist restrictions. I’ve had it turn off when joining a lobby, but I’m always able to turn it back on with my mapped buttons.

Yeah, it' as if the lobby settings change between sessions... very odd... but that' what I've been told...

Just tried my first indycar race after 120 hours of playing this game haha. Im highly doubting this is a bug, but it seems this may be the better thread to put this.

AI set at 80/100
Indianapolis road course
At practice, all 16 of the ai were from 1:14.9 to 1:16.x with me in the middle somewhere. Then at qualify, same thing. high 1:14 was the pole position. At the race, the first lap the ai were 2.5 seconds slower (i assumed this due to the slowdown for lap 1). Lap 2, they were still same speed. At lap 3, the ai from position 2-10 put up lap times from 1:13.9-1:14.9. is this weird? None of the other series' I did had ai outpacing qualify times by so much?

Can anyone help me It says I have 253 races completed and still not got the im a pro trophy for supposedly completing 200 races? I've got all others leading up to that one. I have seen reports of people saying it 250 odd but most I've seen says 200. Any ideas guys? Thankyou so much for your help

There is something seriously wrong with the ai at sakitto GP with gt1 class. the balancing has the ai within 1 second of the time trial world record at only 80 ai. If you put the ai at 120, they are 6 seconds per lap faster. To me (based on other tracks with gt1) it's about 5 seconds per lap too fast. Also, the McLaren's and Nissan's can't make it around turn 1 without spinning out.

I noticed last night that when selecting Knockhill National Reverse, some members were being told (By the game) to drive the regular configuration, whereas others were told to go the reverse direction... Using Clio Cup....

Did you let it play out and see what happen?

Fuel is still not the same for all drivers in forced setup races and nor is the amount the game allocates remotely sensible. Can we just have an option for the host to set the fuel amount in forced setup?

Is COTA pit bug a well known issue? Was doing a custom race with changing weather in Ginetta GT5, pitted for tires, exited pit lane but I’ve noticed I was last and about lap down. I tried it again pitting on first lap, same thing. Guess it’s due to team being placed past the finish line

Got my 1st bug to report (I think) patch 4 (wasn't present patch 3).

Possible sound issue, XB1X, Samsung 5.1 surround, Ferrari 488 GT3, Brands Hatch.

Randomly all game sound goes very quiet for a few minutes then comes back again to normal volume.

Had it happen a couple of times now, at 1st I thought I lent on the TV remote by accident.

Doesn't seem to happen on any other track/car combo as yet. I'll keep testing.
