Project cars 2 bug report Q&A

What do you expect to feel on your steering wheel while accelerating in a RWD car with TC, that is built to be drivable for amateurs?
Project cars 2 should be a simracing game. Why should it be a game for amateurs if it's a simracing? Even without TC the car has no acceleration at all. With or without TC the grip is almost the same. The car is glued to the track coming out of the corners. You must necessarily act on the setup to get a little 'oversteer and act less on the steering wheel.

I'm talking about the real GT3 cars, not the ingame ones.
GT3 cars ARE easy to drive IRL, they're intentionally built this way.

The default setups ingame are a bit on the safe side on purpose. You can get a better performance out of the cars with a more aggressive/oversteery setup.

Why should it be a game for amateurs if it's a simracing?

Why can't it be a game for everyone just because it's a sim?
"Racing sim" and "accessible" aren't mutually exclusive terms.

Aren't real GT3 machines supposed to run glued to the track?, in the game maybe the Ferrari can give you that impression but not the others, that still require some skill with the throttle.

Sounds like you're using stable setups anyway. If anything pc2 GT3 cars could very well be harder to drive than the real life ones. Not that I've ever driven one of these of course. I just suspect this to be the true case.

The Ferrari is a joke too even on unstable setups. Maybe you use that car only too apart from using stable?

What default setup are you using? Are you using the stable one? If so try the loose one and check if that makes a diffrence.

Ok, I think I found something. Apologies if it's already been stated or is already known.

In my current club series, a Multi-class Diablo GTO & Super Trofeo, despite the qualifying times, the grid is ordered by class, not by qualifying times.

For instance, ST has the top 5-6 drivers, with the GTO drivers 2-3 secs slower in qualifying. At the start of the race, the GTO drivers are positioned in front, in order of class time, and the STs are behind them gridded based on their time.

This happened in 2 consecutive races @ Barcelona National and Monza GP. Shouldn't qualifying be based on time only and ignore classes? Am I missing something where the grid is set based on class then time?

Thanks.

I'll throw this in here and run...
I play on a 1mbps download and 0.5mbps upload connection... Ping is awful obviously but still can play in most games... Now RUN RUN...
Upload/download speed doesn't need to be extremely fast, latency is main thing for fluent game experience.
  • My run: 100/100mb 1ms/latency on Scandinavia, under 10ms in Europe.. Gone..

I noticed this too. Tried a quick race on Bathurst with GT3, GT4, TC & V8 Supercars and despite all the V8’s qualifying around 2 secs quicker than the GT3’s, the GT3’s were still placed higher up on the grid.

I have solved the issue ;)

I still believe pC2 is partly responsible as no other game required me to do this, but if people have disconnection issues putting the ps4 in the DMZ helps! :P

Ow yeah enjoy your run ;)

I was just wondering if anyone had the same impressions on the physics of the game, that's all

People seem to have a very diffrent experience then you.
That's why people want to help you get the most out of this gem of a game.

PS: read a bit back, i was mad due to connection issues. Instead of shutting the conversation down I tried to listen to the advise given (admitedly with some salt towards the game).
But now that my issues are solved I'm having the best time with this game again!

I replied to that (no and I find a lot of cars very, very similar in PC2 and AC) and asked you some basic questions that may have helped you out, you ignored the post and questions, and then started saying the same thing over again.

This is a discussion forum, and that only really works if you reply to those that reply to you.

You still didn't answer whether or not you're using stable setups, hence from there might come your on-rail experience with very hard to step back rear, specially on very friendly user cars like the Ferrari that require literally no effort to drive even fast.

So, again. Do you run stable setups?, are you a Ferrari only user?

Gotta move from dial up internet boy.
No he doesn't. Mine is no better and I have no trouble playing online, including in this game, and haven't for years since I switched to a CAT6 wired connection.

Glad to hear that. It was something I've been considering but hesitated as was just concerned about doing it because from what they say while it helps it leaves the port or whatever open and by extension leaving the PS4 vulnerable to open attacks should they occur. Still considering.

algarve whatsoever doesnt load for me. pakfiles\tracks\autodromo_algarve.bff error pops up. cant load the track in career or on private practice.
fixed. just went to verify files through steam. re-downloaded 2 files.

I just tried it here to see and it seems to be okay(I'm on PC with the latest patch). Tried a quick race practice session and a private testing session. Perhaps you have a corrupted file?

I'm sure these are known as they're pretty obvious, so if anything I'm just confirming they aren't fixed in patch 4.

I just noticed that if you pit on the last lap(as in you take damage so no reason to drive to the finish line... not that that's what happened or anything), your pit crew disappears and you can't stop until you drive your broken car all the way around again or manually skip the cooldown lap. Technically it's not a bug I know, just a poor design oversight.

I also found that if you pit during practice/qualifying engaging the pit limiter, then return to the garage to make changes or whatever... when you rejoin it will tell you the limiter is on but it really is not.

I received a penalty for hitting the car in front of me before getting manual control during a rolling start. Couldnt avoid it after restarting race. Maybe turn penalties off while the player doesnt have control?

@The_American Any insight on this? Should I just shut up until the patch?

Grids are sorted by Class first, then by qualifying time

Any more insight into this? What is the basis for putting one class above another? The class should be balanced first and foremost before ordering it above others, one would think. Not expecting miracles, but how about an option to set grids by time only? Ordering by class also seems to effect driving rating, driver in the “faster” car finishes first in class and looses points because it is behind the “slower” class.

@The_American Any word on what's happening with Porche 918 Spyder and LaFerrari electric engines or kers not recharching?

Before patch 4.0 it was the Porche, and now It is the two of them. That makes two Road A cars literally useless to competition in the same class. Could you please fix it already in next patch please?, since first day we haven't been able to do races with the Porche 918 which is pretty mind souring, and now we can't with LaFerrari as well.

New patch and somehow a brand new bug appears

More importantly, significant game crashes have surfaced affecting many users following patch 1.4. These two of note:
1. AMOUNT OF FRIENDS: 235 friends on friends list seems to be the limit or safe. Over 235 or thereabouts result in game crash.
2. CAR...FERARRI F40: Selecting this car results in game crash.

Work around: If you have over 235 friends reduce the amount to 235 or lower.
Do not select the Ferrari F40 until fix is available.
(No need to delete and reinstall game, saves or other)
