The latest information at the WMD2 forums might be interesting!
Just seen the news. We can now freely share videos and screen shots. I'm on holiday for another week and a half but will happily take requests when back. So if want to see a particular car or track or feature just ask.
@Wolfe

Playing with a controller won't give you 1:1 steering ratio. Use of gamepad's requires filters.

But yes, is pretty much the same as disabling FFB

You can set up the game to have 1:1 steering if you wish.

Ferrari and Lambos please? :)

Seriously though, Brands Hatch in the winter with snow please.

Would love to see WRX Cars around a short circuit (mullenbach Nürburgring f.e.) in dry conditions with snow falling during midrace :)

@PzR Slim

On a game pad? Tell me how please. the analog thumbsticks controllers have a few degrees only. Even with a 270º DoR on a car just thinking at the stick :) would turn too much. The ratio is just too fast.

There were even problems (there are problems) on the wheels if one forces the wheel to use lower DoR that what the car is configured with (RL values)

Without filtering, it's uncontrollable on a gamepad. Never seen such configuration nor how I imagine how is it possible from the top of my head anyway.

If anyone wants to do a full onboard lap of Monza classic full, with formula X and also historic prototypes I'd be most appreciative

488 GTE please :bowdown:

Screenshots you say? I might be partial to taking the odd shot or two, I'll see what I can rustle up, once the latest build finishes downloading (and before I head back to the office for the afternoon) :)

EDIT : Although I'm well known on the WMD2 forum for being a bit of a screenshot slut (why take one shot when you can take THOUSANDS?!), I have some other more pressing duties to attend to, so I will probably only post a couple of shots here to whet the appetite :)

Blimey, this was actually a civilised conversation about differences between sims, there is still hope for the world! :bowdown:

Yep, I was pleasantly surprised as well.

Not the only way. ;) If you play with a controller there's obviously no FFB to muddy the comparison.

Good point and it is a bit ironic, that people driving with a gamepad, ridiculed by elitists everywhere, may be on better grounds to compare the underlying physics of cars in sims, due to FFB not "getting in the way" to confuse them.

It's unfortunate how FFB is potentially a barrier not only to evaluating physics properly, but enjoying a sim at all with a wheel. No doubt FFB is a worthwhile feature to have, but it's also a weak link in the experience, and that's one of the main reasons I'm happy enough playing with a controller.

I want to be absolutely clear on my feelings here. In terms of lap times, I think FFB is hugely important and helpful, its effect can be measure in tenths or even in seconds per lap when you learn to rely on it and it's set up right for your wheel. It only gets in the way when we are trying to discuss how physics may differ between sims, because in my opinion FFB differs between sims more than physics does and it's easy to mix up the two.

Not necessarily. Gyro based steering doesn't require filtering at all in my opinion and you can use a 1:1 steering ratio that way as well, the precision is really there for it (at least with the Steam Controller, which I have first hand experience with), although at high speeds reduced sensitivity definitely helps a lot with driving in a straight line.

Any chance of having a look at a short race with a properly set up widescreen setup, to show naysayers that now the distortion on the side monitors is greatly reduced? I also heard that there are options to adjust the side monitors viewing angle compared to the middle one and bezel width as well. It would be nice to see all the related options.

I did mention thumbstick after that.

And yes, that steam controller seems to do a nice job.

wrt to gyros it would depend on the controller I suppose. Steam one at least seems to do a nice job. But instead of using steering sensitive i'd use perhaps the tiniest amount of deadzone possible. (something not needed with a wheel either; the deadzone)

I do hate that steering sensitive crap. It always felt to me like input lag and that's just a BIG NO.

How about "Game of the Year"?

Request(s):

- Trans Am/Vintage Touring & GT at Sonoma

- Group C & Group 5 at Daytona

- Touring Cars(TCR) at Donington National

Somebody asked for a 488 GTE. Here you go :)

Taken just a few minutes ago from the latest WIP build we have access to. Taken using the Photo Mode, not from live gameplay.

A very small amount of deadzone helps as well, yes. I've found however that at high speeds the reduced sensitivity was a great help and driving with the gyro that way was actually quite natural. To each his own though, you are not forced to use speed sensitivity of course, regardless of the input device you choose to use.

Yeah but I'm talking about cars that we haven't seen or heard before, if you know what I mean ;)
Yes, but we're allowed to - encouraged even - to show those off. If they are in our current build of the game, we are allowed to show them. Anything not in our builds is strictly off-limits and I'm sure will see those members get dealt with appropriately.
