Are you sure the Motorsport Pack won't be available in the future, for buyers of the Season Pass?

Because this image seems to imply that:

O9ePY8K.png

It might be at extra cost. Hence the pre-order being worth it.

If any of the above is wrong blame Bandai Namco :)

Do DLC cars appear in the grid for me to race against, even if I haven't purchased the DLC? Forza did that, and that always felt like the absolute best way to advertise the cars that I wanted to drive the most! It took a lot more for me to show restraint when the cars felt so close!

No. We haven't built them yet (well, we're working on pack 2 now whilst finishing a couple of pack 1 cars). Meaning, we aren't holding a lot of content, that could have shipped, back for later DLC.

👍

Nice. Still time for the V8 Altima to make it in a pack. You did say 3-4 months to build car, right? Happy New Year!

The season pass is worth it. You get 4 free cars by pre-ordering it. I don't want to overstate things but I think the DLC we have planned is truly awesome :) Come back here in a year and we'll all agree!

I admit this is confusing but if you preorder the season pass you get these cars for free. Not otherwise available:

  • Jaguar E-Type V12, Group 44 (1974) - beauty, speed, and an absolute motoring icon
  • Panoz Esperante GTR-1 (1998) - a ’90s GT stalwart
  • Audi V8 DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) (1991) - a DTM legend with 460hp @ 9,500RPM
  • Opel Astra TCR (2016) – Opel’s latest 300hp Touring Car monster

Edit, I realise I hyphenated 'pre-ordering' and not 'preorder'. Answers on a postcard but it feels better to me :)

Ian, I always appreciate observing a professional at work. And this is a glimpse at it in you, answering questions late on a Sunday night even though you are the senior leader. Passion for your product, your customer and your team. Bravo!

Understood! Thanks for the answer. But I guess I will clarify my question a little bit. Once a pack is released, will the cars appear?

Edit: Actually, scratch that. My guess is "no," since that was implied in the system you described in your above answer.

Figures you answer after I've already pre-ordered.

I'll just stick with the standard version for now as doing so will also allow me to pre-order FM7 as well (plus as I've recently discovered, MS makes it unnecessarily difficult to cancel a pre-order). And if I have to purchase the Motorsport pack separate from the season pass I won't really complain since if it gets to that point I won't mind providing a little extra support (not sure how much you guys actually get from XBL sales).

Yes but pretty much all are progressed to some extent. We won't be sweating the delivery times, at least on cars.

Any ETA on when you guys will be able to talk about DLC?

I´ve already pre ordered the deluxe version, so just want to know what i´m getting it.

Hints and things like "can´t say yes, but can´t say no" are also appreciated.

:)

Ian is just as nervous as we are and also can't sleep. It's so close to release date :scared: haha.

On a more serious note: indeed great job and really like the good interaction over the past months of you and your colleagues at GTPlanet.

18 days, just 18 days

Although I don't doubt Ian's commitment, late Sunday night may be Monday morning in another part of the world. ;)

DLC for PCars was brilliant,so I'm very interested to see what you come up with for PCars2.

No point in rushing them. It takes time to model the LMP1-H, like the Toyota TS050-HYBRID 2016, and late 1990s BTCC cars doesn't it? Eh? Hint hint.

Wait what? How can you pre-order a season pass? How does that even work? So what, you're telling me that if you buy the season pass you WON'T get access to the Motorsports car pack for free? Are you serious? I don't want to pay extra! The chart clearly states that the Motorsport Pack is included as a bonus with the season pass, not as exclusive pre-order content.

It's pretty clear. I pre-ordered from JB Hifi. Deluxe gets you the Season Pass and the Motorsports car content.

Ugh god, does that mean I pre-ordered the wrong version? As in the only way for me to get the Motorsports Pack was through a pre-order with the season pass included? S***, I thought you could get the Motorsport Pack if you purchased the season pass separately...

I thought the Motor Sports pack comes with the season pass regardless if it's a preorder.

@IanBell does this not show you guys have an issue on your advertisment?

Can people get clarification?

And then just a question I hope we get your opinion on: Doesn't this show all this dlc and preorder exclusives and season passes and whatever bs the gaming industry is going to come up with is getting far put of hand? You surely must understand how this feels like a moneygrab. You still must have played in the days you just bought a game :)

I understand you probably have little yo say in this but I honestly think you'd get a ton of goodwill if you just released the game (1 version!) And (sadly) a season pass.

When your customers don't even know if they bought the version providing them with the content they are looking for, it's kind of messed up.

p.s this is a little bit of critique towards the marketing aspect I still love all the effort you guys put in so far.

@05XR8 to bad for Ian he kinda is the 'spokesperson' for pC2 on these boards. We as customers should not have to worry about the inner struggles between publisher/developper or even developpers between possible multiple developperd working together at a project.

I see the way pC2 is marketed as an issue. (Yes this is opinion)
First of I disagree with all this dlc and pre-order idiotiv ideas that havr become the norm in the industry. If then the marketing of the game is this abysimal that people don't actually know what they bought then the dlc model becomes a very tricky market ready for customers to be exploited by shady developpers/publishers. (No I'm not calling sms or bandai shady atm, I'm saying the way they go about the packagrs this release opens the market for those types of people)

And again yeah, sorry for me bandai and sms could just as well be the samr company I buy their product so for as far things goes they are a single company selling me a product.

Yes, but the season pass is a pre-order by definition. I mean, you're paying for something that will come later... Unless I'm missing the import of your post.

'Can people get clarification' is a little dramatic to be fair. I'm doing that, here....

Secondly, we don't do the advertising, Bandai namco do.

Now look, it's all perfectly simple:

The "complete", "locked in", game days are over.

So, where are SMS going to get their funding to develop a game? If you design a car, how are you going to get the money to build it? If you own a car, most likely, if you have a problem, you go to the dealer, not the designer. You can't complain to Giorgetto Giugiaro that your '81 Scirocco didn't come with the tartan seats that came in the GTI. That's VW's problem.

I'm not a computer whiz nor do I analyze all these packages and what value for money do I get. I don't have an unlimited income, but if i do want something, I'll get it. I can't see how any of the packages are confusing. Where are you buying the game from? How does that company word the packages? What exclusive deal are they offering.

Show me where I'm missing your understanding.

First of all I can see that! Thank you for that.

Second I'm lookinh forward to the game!

But if there seems to be some things that need general clarification why doesn't bandai fix it where the issue lies instead of you having to answer these totally avoidable questions.

This just feels very unproductive from my perspective. Like I said there is a bigger problem then just one guy, considering all the questions on these boards.

But hey just my 2 cents :P

If you're happy backing this model where half the people are not 100% sure what they bought then be my geust. But understand some people find that unethical.

And with clarification I meant at the heart not you on these boards. What about all your customers that are kot signed up in gt planet? What's so dramatic about me who wants you guys to keep in mind the interests of your customerbase?

Edit: @05XR8 I think I understand the content if the packages but a lot of people seem not to. This proves a bigger issue. Yes those days are over but should come back, where should they then gzt their funding? Well jeez I don't know like make agood gamr and sell it? Like we did in the good old days?

Your analogy ignored the entire fact that you car dealership is your closest contact to yoyr developper let's say their spokesman. Where is our spokeman from bandai? Yeah right we only have some sms guys here
They are doing a hell of a job btw! But yes that's why they should understand why they get flak.
Let's look at it diffrent, if one of my subcontractors makes a mistake the customer won't go to the subcontractor, they'll come to me and it is my responsebility to solve this internally. I should not redirect the cuqtomer to the subcontractor as that's not the repsonsibility if the customer it should be part of my service.

I've not said I'm happy backing anything. I really struggle when people put words in my mouth. Did you see my Cleese video? :)

I also don't appreciate being called unethical. If you can find a more open CEO, responding to a game about to be released, please link me and I'm open to learn.

People can always wait a year for a complete Edition. Its that simple.

I have the Deluxe Edition and im happy with my purchase as the Base Game alone gives enough content for the Money.

I usually wait a Year for Single Player Games like Tomb Raider or Batman cause they are complete then and pretty cheap.

I said IF you back this. Sorry if you felt like I implied you do. And I meant just the way the game is sold. So I didn't put words in you mouth.

On the unethical thing. I'm saying I find that unethical. That doesn't mean the general public agrees. Nor that you are, ethics are subjective.

So who was putting words in whose mouth ;)

I'm sorry if I offended you, that never was my intention, and before I get put words in my mouth. I think you do a really good job on here. I've never seen such open communication from a developer and really do appreciate it.

No offence but there was a lot after the 'If' to be fair which I'd say constituted belief. You see, if I was rolling with an 'if' I wouldn't hit a second sentence accusing a person of lax ethics, operating under the assumption that the previous sentence was valid. Just saying.

'If you're happy backing this model where half the people are not 100% sure what they bought then be my geust. But understand some people find that unethical.'

My apologues in that case! I really didn't want to imply anything!

As you stated and I fully agree you guys have such open communication and I do appreciate that.

Edit: just this conversation alone shows you have ethics and hold ethics to a high standard ;) otherwise you would have just ignored the message to thanks!
