My apologues in that case! I really didn't want to imply anything!

As you stated and I fully agree you guys have such open communication and I do appreciate that.

And I'll say that you seem to be a very intelligent chap and it's all clear between us. But we do function in a low attention span world and it's very easy to conflate sentences and semantics.

Beyond my minor whining I do want to give a big thanks to all of the people here at GT, including the management, for the very fair and well moderated platform they've allowed us. It's unfortunately become more of a rarity in recent years and I think a lot of sites could take a lot of reference from GT Planet.

It's a joy to be here, even in debate, and that's how it should be.

First of all I can see that! Thank you for that.

Second I'm lookinh forward to the game!

But if there seems to be some things that need general clarification why doesn't bandai fix it where the issue lies instead of you having to answer these totally avoidable questions.

This just feels very unproductive from my perspective. Like I said there is a bigger problem then just one guy, considering all the questions on these boards.

But hey just my 2 cents :P

If you're happy backing this model where half the people are not 100% sure what they bought then be my geust. But understand some people find that unethical.

And with clarification I meant at the heart not you on these boards. What about all your customers that are kot signed up in gt planet? What's so dramatic about me who wants you guys to keep in mind the interests of your customerbase?

Edit: @05XR8 I think I understand the content if the packages but a lot of people seem not to. This proves a bigger issue. Yes those days are over but should come back, where should they then gzt their funding? Well jeez I don't know like make agood gamr and sell it? Like we did in the good old days?

Your analogy ignored the entire fact that you car dealership is your closest contact to yoyr developper let's say their spokesman. Where is our spokeman from bandai? Yeah right we only have some sms guys here
They are doing a hell of a job btw! But yes that's why they should understand why they get flak.
Let's look at it diffrent, if one of my subcontractors makes a mistake the customer won't go to the subcontractor, they'll come to me and it is my responsebility to solve this internally. I should not redirect the cuqtomer to the subcontractor as that's not the repsonsibility if the customer it should be part of my service.
People bought the game. That's how we're getting a second game.

Now, Ian has been here since February. He hasn't been in hiding. Hasn't promised anything or mislead us, in regards to marketing. He has been straight up about the game. I missed the boardroom meeting about pricing and DLC. Can't help you there, sorry.

A ("mistake")bug in the game? SMS will address and rectify it(same as a software update to the computer in your car). A physical ("mistake")defective game disc? You're not walking in to the SMS office, to hand it back. Nor will Ian be answering calls on that day. You'll be seeing a cashier(the dealer where you bought your car).

I fully intend to be half sloshed at the Four Seasons in Bali :)

I think we'll tease each for a couple to few weeks before we ship. Nothing right after release though.

Great to hear. A few weeks is right about now if i´m not mistaken.

You´ll have more and more deluxe ales once people have a clear notion of what´s coming, it makes sense to promote it.

Then you guys can get drunk and party all night once everything is finished.

I think he means a few weeks before the packs come out not a few weeks before the game's launch.

Oh, that makes sense.

Too much wishful thinking on my part. I don´t really like surprises, so that explains a bit.

I'm still having a hard decision of what car/track combination I should try first. It changes every day:lol: So far im leaning more towards the GTE Corvette at long beach. Second best choice is Indycars at indiapolis motorspeedway.

And this gentlemen, is why Project Cars will continue to be a huge success.
The content and management are top notch.

The marketing strategy is a bit frustrating. In my case, I preordered the hard copy for PS4 in April. Now there's a deluxe version that's downloadable, but no deluxe hard copy (which I prefer).

* I'm still not certain that the season pass will be available for download in the PlayStation store on day one.

* I don't know if a season pass will include all content of the deluxe edition.

I get that digital downloads are far more profitable concerning logistics. But I still prefer a hard copy version. I'd like to think I can have the complete package with a hard copy version of the game. But the current advertisements are a bit ambiguous.

I'm in the same boat. Just want a hard copy of the game with the season pass (all future dlc cars and tracks including motorsport pack) day 1. I'm willing to pay for season pass at a later date.

Think I'm going to walk into my local gamestop later preorder the game and confuse the hell out of the associate

I had to make sure at my Gamestop that I got the digital pre-order because that's what I want. Discs are nice but I have plenty of space on my PS4 and have things I'm willing to delete to make space and re-download if I get the itch to play again. I didn't know I could digital pre-order in store and thought it was only through PSN so I wanted to make sure I was getting the right deal. On the 22nd I'll go in and they'll give me a digital download code. No idea how but that's what they are doing and the guy (who knows me by face now) knows what he's talking about. I can tell he's not giving me a BS runaround answer.

In reply to the current discussion, I had that happen a year or two ago with a "deluxe" copy of a game. I got home and realized I didn't read the small print I guess, but it had nothing to do with the dlc, I would still have to buy. I was so disappointed I never played the game more than 15 minutes before it became a paper weight on my shelf. Never bought the second game that came out either.
For me it wasn't anything more than a sense of sore pride. I felt dooped. Never even gave the game a chance.

Now on to the question.
@IanBell, I was hoping maybe you could tell me if there is a plan or anything in the works for a combo package PS4PRO/PCARS special edition or anything of the sort that may be released? I have been holding out for this as I do not own PS4 currently but may be picking one up just for this game.
I have a xbone but if I have to upgrade to play 4k then I'm going to change it all up and switch over.
It would be really awesome to have a Pcars special edition PS4 sitting under the TV.
Thanks in advance for your time in response and I appreciate, whole heartedly, the fact that you have given us the opportunity to ask these questions.

:boggled:

If you have already an Xbox One... Why don't buy Pcars 2 for it and then upgrade to the Xbox One X?
It is quite more powerful than an PS4 Pro, has more probability to run Pcars 2 better and on higher resolution than the PS4 Pro and you maintain your friends, game library and all without problems and all of them running better than on the Xbox One you have now..

At least in my opinion.

BTW don't think there will be a special edition console of Pcars 2, otherwise it surely would already been promoted just like the different versions of the game that are available for preorder.

I need some fun things to do in PCars to keep me busy until the new game comes out in two weeks. I can't believe I'm saying two weeks!!

Open to all suggestions

Hockenheim Classic
Alpine A450
3laps/4 weather slots in this order...
Clear
Fog
Heavy Fog
Clear
Weather progression 15

The way the fog rolls in on this fast course with long straights is incredible.
I enjoy running the open top Alpine for the view, downforce and speed.
Run it alone in practice.

Yes, but the season pass is a pre-order by definition. I mean, you're paying for something that will come later... Unless I'm missing the import of your post.
Ok I see what you mean, but the price of the Deluxe Edition is more than the price of the base game + the season pass. Like $20 extra. I don't see the point. Let me ask you this:
If I buy the season pass after release, will I get the Motorsports Pack included at no extra cost?

Where are you seeing it $20 more than buying separate? On Steam it's almost the same price ($0.60 CDN more).

As I stated elsewhere, the Deluxe bundle only discounts the game itself. The Season Pass is not discounted.

And again, SMS has absolutely no.say in the pricing. The final.price is set by the retailer, based on a MSRP price provided by Bandai Namco. It's the same for software as it is with books. The author doesn't price the book. The publisher does. The retailer however, is free to increase or decrease however they want so long as the publisher gets their agreed to amount per copy from the retailer.

In Australia, at jbhifi the base game is suggested at $79. The Deluxe is $139. Maybe that's what he means(?).

But the Deluxe includes the Season Pass....

Sounds like they have jacked up the price on the Season Pass.

On Steam the Standard game is $79.99CDN (regular price) and $119.98CDN (regular price) for the Deluxe.

Since the Season Pass is listed as a $29.99 value, that makes the Deluxe the same price as the Standard game plus Season Pass.

With the current preorder discounts there is a $0.60 difference between them.

The fine print also mentions a "discount", if the game is priced lower at launch. When I pre-ordered, the price wasn't set yet.

But you can buy a season pass many months down the line after all the season pass content has already been released. Would this still count as a pre-order, and still qualify for the pre-order bonus content car pack?

It's still somewhat confusing. BN should really clarify all of this. Their whole pre-release strategy has been a bit of a mess, what with sanctioning buggy press videos and now the mixed messages about pre-ordering.

Ian, this must be driving you more than slightly mad.

Drive around the track backwards in an online race and see how much abuse you can muster before being kicked?

Just kidding. Don't do that. :sly:

I refer you to the John Cleese video I posted earlier...

I think I've discovered one confusion point reason. Local sellers (including Steam) can apply discounts as they see fit. I think it's this and other discounts that are making the costings look odd.

I'll say this though, 29 dollars for what we plan to ship over the next year is insanely cheap. These are high cost and top marque DLC's.

YES! I continue to liken these games to Scalextric and Hot Wheels. Just way less expensive.
I buy a console, another controller and the game. I'm losing against slot cars(track & 2 cars) and Hot Wheels(play set & 2 cars). Then, I want to buy Scalextric cars and Hot Wheels cars and track/play set configurations(as close to), to match what I have in PC2. In slot cars, I'd be losing at about the 10th additional car. Hot Wheels, I'd be on under the console after reaching 180 cars, but add 59 play sets and play time is over. :sly:
