Anyone else use Logitech H Shifter on this game? For those, can you share feelings? Does it worth it or wheel paddles are better?

For me it was worth it, feels a lot better doing the gear changes with an H shifter for cars that have such a gearbox. When you use the paddles, the game adds a manual time delay to gear changes in those cars, and that does not feel natural, but doing it with an H-shifter the only delay is the physical one for you to move the stick.

There's no reason not to heel-toe and clutch if using paddles :)
I know a lot of people don't, but a lot of others do.

I never actually used a proper shifter because extra expense. Now I use nothing because broken pedals. :(
Impossible coincidence, but I'm actually pretty sure this is the second time I've had an accident(okay, I rammed the stupid bot after the race, he deserved it) in PC2 and immediately wound up with no accelerator pedal(in anything) permanently. First time it happened switching some sensors around eventually got it working a few days later, but of course those sensors had already been shelved for not working right. This time I can't get anything. Might try once more soon but I think it's time to retire the old girl.

@cpcdem @rj5992 thanks for your responses. Yesterday I bought H shifter (I ve been using paddles). As you mentioned, it s a plus drive with H shifter - I did not try clutch yet.
I realized that it s a huge change now with H shifter and definitely I m slower than using paddles (Considering that I m NOT an alien). I think that I will enjoy it driving route steps or maybe on nords tourist (also playing on AC) but I won t see myself running online/offline against others. If you can give me some advice or it will be very welcome.

Think my save profile is corrupted, may have to delete/reinstall everything :(

XB1X, TX, GTE rim.

Getting serious ffb clipping on the telemetry & the violent wheel shaking down straights.

Porsche 917K default LM setup @ Monza historic full course (specifically the 2nd banked turn on the oval)

Settings tested are:

Raw
Gain 0-100
Volume 25-75 (anything above 40 causes severe clipping in corners even with Gain at 0)
Tone 25-75
FX 0

Informative (this setting is just buggered, no matter what I do the game is sending extreme signals to the wheel, around any corner)
Gain 0-100
Volume 0-100
Tone 0-100
FX 0

Immersive (this is the most stable)
Gain 100
Volume 25-75
Tone 25-75
FX 0

TX firmware up to date, all buttons & ffb signals working in the thrustmaster control panel when I test on laptop.

It's almost like the game is sending to much signal to volume & tone, even if I shut the gain down to 0 the signal is the same.

Anyone willing to try the above car/track combo with their setup & give some feedback before I do a fresh start? Console users (specifically Xbox)

Can't imagine this is just this car/track combo related.

Edit: it's even clipping in the telemetry using a controller  ha ha.

Ah well, just deleted the lot.

Yeah, at first you will be slower (it was the same for me as well), especially when you need to change gear while turning, but with enough practice you will get used to it and it will become second nature. And because the game does give a time penalty for changing gears with the H-shifter for such cars, you will actually end up being faster at the end. Just give it time!

As @cpcdem said, just give it time. When I got mine I actually didn't know how to drive a car in real life (I still haven't started lessons yet) so I had to spend a week just going around Oulton Park Fosters in the Ford Escort road car just learning how to drive. Took me that week but I'm now quicker than using the paddles.

As for tips:
1. Look up videos on rev matching and heel and toeing. I learnt the latter by watching a video of a Japanese dude racing a Skyline race car. It had a good pedal cam. Always blip the throttle between downshifts, whether you're braking or not otherwise you will lock the differential in these racing cars (road cars are more forgiving on that front).
2. In the pedal calibration menu I set my clutch to 70%. It's good practise to re calibrate your pedals every time you load up the game, otherwise 100% brake becomes however hard you press the brakes into T1, which usually results in a lock up. The reason I have the clutch at 70 is that it brings the bite point that bit higher up the travel to make starts easier. It's very easy to just dump it on race starts. (If you want to practise race starts try the Escort road car at Oulton Fostors. Stop on the hill after the chicane in second gear, and practise hill starts by feathering the clutch to build up speed. You soon learn where the bite point is).

Update to my above post, hopefully everything is good but can't check till later.

On the console side.
Wiped game save (cloud & local).
Wiped & reinstalled PC2 & all dlc.
Run power cycle to reset usb drives.

On TX wheel side via PC.
Updated via manual bootloader to latest firmware to flash out any conflicts with past firmwares.
Checked all ffb settings, wheel rotation/centering + buttons & all is well.

So that's about all I can do, hopefully it'll be happy racing again later.

This is where you find out it was just a loose usb connection. ;)

I bought the game this morning & the PS4 claimed that it was ready to play. As I looked around, many of the options wouldn't work. I figured the game wasn't fully downloaded (& I was right), but I decided to try out what was playable right then. Let's take this McLaren 720S onto Long Beach & drive it like a Gr. 4 car in Gran Turismo Sport. First turn, jam on the brakes....

IT'S NOT STOPPING!!!!

I'm not sure why that's the first combo that they make available. Let's put the new user in a high powered sports car with road tyres on a narrow track with sharp corners and high concrete barriers close by. What can go wrong?!

Long Beach with all it's buildings can also make the graphics engine struggle a little.

Hope you come to enjoy PC2. It can take awhile to adapt to it from GT but it's quite rewarding when it all clicks into place.

I'm having fun already & not regretting the purchase. I may not race online with other real humans, but the learning curve is worth it. I'm having my share of learning experiences with the Mustang Trans Am car that I've been wanting to play.

Did you press fully brake pedal before? Game calibrates pedals every time you started game.

If that is the setting for brake percentage, then I've got it set for 100% on all of the cars I drive.

Every time you start a game you need to push pedals 100 % once (it is dosn't matter - in the menu, pits, track ...). If you didn't do that, you allmost don't have brakes in the first corner of you first lap.

Good tip. Thanks. Of course, that will throw a monkey wrench into doing rolling starts.
You can press (calibrate) pedals not beeing on track - in the main menu screen, also, you can do that during "autodrive" into rolling starts. If you did that you don't need to do that again, unless you restarted game (app, not a loby).

Just took advantage of this game being £15:99 on the store, and after playing Driveclub religiously for the last 4 years I realise I’m in for a culture shock but hey ho, let’s see how it goes..
Tried GT Sport but I just can’t feel the love playing it, just seems sterile to me so I’m really hoping that this game (eventually) gives me a cannot stop playing vibe like I got with DC:cheers:

Should've bought the deluxe edition for £19.99 instead

Ah, a new convert.

Religion: a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion.

Sounds about right. Welcome to our spiritual community.

Group meetings are held regularly around the world. While on this forum we discuss the proclamations of the great prophet @IanBell  whenever he graces us with an appearance.

Remember to study the manual Book of PCars well and all will be right in the world.

:P ;)

Ha, nice one 👍 I’m intrigued as to how I’m gonna get to grips with the physics and handling of this game, I’m no alien but I’m not slow either as I hold a few WR on Driveclub’s time trials but I’m well aware that this is a different beast altogether..should be fun whatever happens

Not sure if you're using a wheel or controller but if you have any difficulties there's usually someone who'll assist with settings etc. And PC2 does have a lot of settings!

I'd suggest starting by leaving at least some of the driving aids switched on and then turning off the one's you don't need as you get more confident with the handling.

Just from my experience, the handling of PC2 is very different from most games. As far as sim games specifically, mostly GT Sport, it is much more realistic. I won't say that GTS is sterile, but Polyphony Digital is taking steps in the wrong direction as far as penalties in daily races. For me, since PC2 has been out for as long as it has & I'm not interested in taking it online, it's a breath of fresh air.
