What you want, but not the majority. The minority won't keep this series alive, only the majority can. That's been my entire point in my posts. If SMS takes this series serious, they need to think long-term. More people play on consoles than PC's. They need to add fun.
How can you say more people play on consoles? You need to focus on purely racing games to work out how many racers there are, then work out how big each audience is. No other gamers matter for your argument. Also, establishing a core fan base across 4 platforms allows a small budget to be stretched and for the series to gain coverage and interest before having a bigger budget in the future to cater to a wider audience if they choose to. Your arguments are inherently flawed.
As for your reply to yourself, I think youll find F1 games have been very succesful with their sim only approach. Saying it isnt fun enough is an opinion not a fact.
