However, claiming that SMS is dishonest is a bit rich. I think they're very open about it. We've heard a lot of the devs honest thoughts on the matter - a rare thing indeed. In fact, I've never encountered a more open, informative and honest development process (three cheers for WMD!)

Do you think they were being completely honest when they said Sony and Microsoft may not allow them to publish on current gen? Can you see that happening? Again, to me it was leading the conversation in the direction of dropping current gen before the community really go to voice their opinions.

Actually, I can. The Console Giants are known for some strange policies towards user and developers alike. In any case the wording was "may" - nothing dishonest about that, even if it was just Ian speculating.

Again, to me it was leading the conversation in the direction of dropping current gen before the community really go to voice their opinions.
Of course the devs have points that may be perceived as leading. Any good point may even be seen that way. Furthermore, the devs are humans too, and they have preferences which they should be allowed to state, just like you and me. There has been plenty voicing of opinions since, both for and against; people didn't let a few dev posts stop them from having their say.

Anyway, we get to voice our opinions in the upcoming poll..

Guys I've been a bit disconnected from sim racing lately, how's the GT-3 Merc coming along? Any progress reports lime we used to get on the BMWs?

^ Latest report from Ben Collins:
http://forum.wmdportal.com/showthre....-Ben-Collins.&p=495007&viewfull=1#post495007

I suppose I shouldn't quote his posting here, but I can mention that he is very happy with where the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 is going - so that's a good sign (he's not afraid to speak up when he feels things are bad!). Same with the BMW Z4 GT3.

He's still grumbling about the 98T tyres I bet.
Though I am sure we'll get that right. We just need the Casey's new Turbo system ideas for it to happen. Cause if the turbo gets to be calculated in real time as well, along with the volumentric throttle system, we will end up with a different build-up of torque on the wheels I reckon. Which means the tyres need to be re-adjusted, and can be re-adjusted more properly (at least that is my guess) for those turbo charged cars.
It's not that the tyres will be special as you, but for everyone here... the tyres are adjusted on a per car basis. Which means that the devs, physics specialists like Ben and us testers will drive with a car with current physics systems in place and they will be then adjusted accordingly to achieve a correct handling.
Which means that for systems that are not 100% 'real' in terms of real-time physics, they will end up having to detail the tyres more to those systems to achieve the right handling of the car. While with real time physics systems the tyres should be closer to the specifications giving by tyre manufacturers.

disclaimer: This is just how I few it, if it's 100% correct remains to be seen.

To bring this thread back on a more positive note... there is an incredible number of really good entries in the prototype design contest. Absolutely amazing, never would have thought that there would be such an amazing amount of quality.

Here is mine, thought I d share it here too. Edit: Sorry for posting only links but somehow linking anything on this site never works for me. :ouch:

Its an LMP2 concept. Anila is the hindu god of wind, thought that would be a fitting name... If its good enough for Pagani, its good enough for me. :D

There you go. Lot's of great entries indeed, it's a shame most of them can't make it.

I like the manufacturer name, and the meaning behind it is smart. What does the model name represent?

The car itself looks great and it looks realistic too. Very well done, FLX. 👍

Thanks! The possibility of one day driving a car that I designed in a AAA racing game still seems totally unreal to me... If I should be among the lucky winners, I will have a huge grin/boner for days, I think. Just imagining firing up that thing for the first time at Solitude with the new pCARS sounds makes the hairs on my neck stand up! :D

By the way: The model name stands for the birthday of the girl that inspired me to do this design, Anila has something to do with her name as well, in fact.

What's with the 07/2 name? Is it based on an LMP2 car that was released in 2007?

EDIT: This is what happens when I don't check the next page. :grumpy: It looks totally kick-ass, though. 👍

Out of interest, FLX, was that done on Cinema 4D and photoshop?

It looks great and has a nice name to it. Well done :)

Thanks guys, I m actually working on improving the livery a bit atm. Just some subtle retouches... I also rendered about 20 color alternatives since yesterday. Just cant stop working on it! :D

I should probably mention that we were a team of two on this project for the modelling and detailing. The key sketch was mine, though.

@ Legacy: Rhino for modelling, hypershot for the renderings.

So I haven't been on this site in ages (since the release of GT5!). But I am very curious about this game. Finally a game for the wii u! My question is how are the physics compared to GT5/Forza 4? Is Nintendo going to draw the short stick again in their version? I'm not as worried about how the game looks - I'm worried about how it feels. I was going to find out on my own then I looked at the number of pages in this thread haha. So I'm hoping one of you would be kind enough to let me know.

My question to you is, why on earth would you want to get this on Wii U. There isn't a single decent wheel available for the wii U. As for physics, it's far beyond forza and gt5

Simply put I can only afford one console....my wife is stuck home with chronic health problems so I thought it best to get the wii u as my next gen...something she and I can actually play together. Not looking for sympathy, just giving you a reason. I've pretty much done everything in forza 4 and GT that I can do - so until the time comes I can afford a PS4, I'm excited about this. The last Nintendo racer I played was probably rad racer. And thanks for the response....glad to hear about the physics.

FLX, MATE! I LOVE YOUR DESIGN! Great job, hope you make it along with the others... such awesome talents in this pCARS community :-) I really hope SMS will put all the most finished designs all in without a poll or a stupid competition. I know that 3D is much harder work than a simple texture, and you all did so well it would be a shame to just pick and choose 1 or 2 only among 6-8 already awesome designs!

By the way clever move to the LMP2 category much less crowded than the p1... ;-)

In any case, if you'll not win the contest I suggest you to consider a mod release for another platform if pCars won't allow mods. It has a nice futuristic tech looks. It surely raise interest in the next rFactor 2 / Assetto Corsa comunity. Great job.

This is a great idea.

Quick question. Are rFactor 2 or Assetto Corsa free? (To keep this thread on topic, could you please drop a PM :) thanks)
