^ Here in the States I asked my local Gamestop if they were taking pre-orders on pCARS and he looked at me like I had three heads. He had never heard of pCARS.

That is because Gamestop get all their info on games from publishers and since pCARS doesn't have one, they won't know about. I could be wrong so another member can correct me but I don't think the final distribution methods have been disclosed yet.

I hate it that there is no chance to get an access Project Cars at the moment. Assetto Corsa is aivailabe as Beta on Steam and I wish PC would be available too. Any chance for this? Because a 6 month long wait is insane...

No, it isnt. Developing a game takes as long as it takes and people need to learn to be patient again. All this early access and open beta crap has spoiled people and has degraded the longevity of a lot of games.

Good things come to those who wait. :D

Waiting for something that's highly anticipated is never much fun, but after my experience with the GT series I'm happy to wait as long as needed to get things right. I'd hate to go through that disappointment of paying for a full game only to receive a buggy, half finished mess.

No, it's not. Lot's of studios do the same these days, unfortunately. GT6 wasn't too buggy but it was certainly not finished.

Be happy you did not bought BF4 (or did you?)... It was not playable on PS4 until last week. 6 months unplayable. Not even single player was working correctly. Fifa 14 is the buggiest crap game on earth and the EA servers are mostly unavailable. The web app is so buggy...

I never had these extreme issues with other developers. I only know these problems from EA. And they are doing this for years now. And say they will change. But never change. Unfortunately people still buy EA games... And I fell for it too because there were only EA games available at launch.

Reason being how expensive it is to make games of the level we see today. You'd need a considerable amount of employees who each have families to feed. These employees need to be fed during the 2 to 3 years of development time.
Than there is license costs, cost for equipment, costs for all kind of tiny and big things involved.

This with a limited amount of funds, you can only get so much done up to the point where you need to decide if the game can be finished ish or if the game is so bad that it is better to cut losses.

Some more PS4 shots looking very very nice indeed.

It's ok to do this once, but EA seems to do this to nearly every game now. Maybe they think it's okay because there are enough people buying their games. They should know their limits now. Especially as a company this big.

The reason why EA does this is because they try to get the most profit with the least amount of development time. Development time costs money, so you simply want to use the least amount of time if possible with the result of having a decently working game.

If it is decent enough for the developer or the gamer to be happy with is partially irrelevant. If only the publisher (in this case EA) who gave the assignment to a dev studio is happy, than it is good enough. The publisher is the one that has to balance costs, risks and potential profits after all.

Thanks for the link! Screenshots look nice! Does anyone know how many cars at the same time can be on the track? Same as PC? Or like in Gran Turismo, only 16?

At least on this image you posted, you can see some limitations of the PS4? Or does it look the same on PC? I mean, look at that grass on the left and right of the track. Looks like pretty washed textures. But its only a litte detail wich does not count when other things are well done.

Besides, I´m pretty concerned about this :nervous:

You guys made Shift 2 Unleashed - so is Project CARS' handling similar?
The physics, handling, force feedback, input lag, tire model, and all aspects of the handling model have been rewritten and improved, with a community of racing fans and race professionals supervising and testing them throughout. The overall result is something far more realistic and responsive.

Somebody here said that Pcars was build from scratch and has nothing to do with Shift, now I read this on their page. I keep being sceptical about the physics.

Even IF they were rewriten from shift trust me the phisics does not feel anything like shift, is really hard to tell by just a video but look at the videos ppst by Rene and u can tell the diference. I had shift 2 i returned it back after 2 days.

Some pictures look very nice, but this screenshot for example is a joke. I understand the game is in development, but surely they have better tracks to show the game... Look at the poor textures. I'll buy the game anyway. But after seeing at least two pictures which looked really bad, i have doubts about their marketing strategy and how well more casual gamers will receive it. This is poor advertising.

What Samus told you is that all of the assets (cars, tracks) were built from scratch because EA owns S2U's assets. Project CARS uses the same game engine (called "Madness") as Shift 2 Unleashed, but as it says, "all aspects of the handling model have been rewritten and improved" to provide a better driving experience. It might not be the next king of physics realism, but it's clear from videos that it's a different game.

The response was "...all aspects of the handling model have been rewritten and improved...", wouldn't that suggest NOT Shift2?

The cars, sure. But everything else: yiiikes!

Yes I can see what you mean, maybe a bit of a touch up here or there, but as long as they got the core elements right in this game physics, ai etc etc, i will be very happy.

Hehe, perhaps my eye's are getting rather old and tired, but in all honestly i think it still looks blooming great.
Haha. I feel because the camara is set far away, but its zoomed in, that's how I assume why its like that. I agree that pCARS still looks great, but what really happen there. :)

Well I was going to get it for PS4 but am not sure if the Fanatec wheels will work on the PS4? Is this a Sony thing? Or must Slightlymad implement a support for the Wheels? I´ve read something about that the USB Port of the PS4 does not support old wheels? That would kill it for me

EDIT: Found this http://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/1ko717/all_ps3_compatible_wheels_to_work_on_ps4/

And it looks like Xbox One does definately not support old wheels. Glad I never chose Xbox...

EDIT2: And found this
http://f-wheel.com/forums/index.php/topic,2622.msg17309.html#msg17309

As Orpheus said, it is now confirmed that our wheels won't work with the Xbox1. At least not the way they work with the Xbox 360. If MS adopts the HID standard (which is doubtful), there could be a chance. Don't hold your breath though.

But the PS4 is a different story. Although it won't be backwards compatible with any PS3 games, it should be compatible with with any controllers which use the standard HID protocol which means any wheel that works on PS3 should work on PS4.

EDIT3: And this :D
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/10/30/ps4-the-ultimate-faq-north-america/#sect5

Will PS3 peripherals such as fighting sticks and steering wheels work with PS4?
Generally speaking, no. However, at launch, users will be able to use these controllers if a specific game title allows it to be used within the game. This decision is upon the game developer and will vary from game to game.

So it seems like its all about Slightymad

Fanatec relies on the Logitech driver for PS4. Does a Logitech G27 already have a working PS4 driver? If they haven't than SMS can't implement it into the PS4 version of the game. Which was a similar practice as on the PS3. Hence when the T500 came out no game worked with it unless the old games got patched with the new T500 driver.

From scratch / rewritten = essentially the same thing in this case. They had no need to go back to literally 0 lines of code but they did go as far back as required to remove all the Shift aspects from the engine and then started from there.
