Yes, I just checked - there's ca. 400 notes (lines) of Wii U specifics starting from 01/11/11 and running up to a little while ago. As we know there's a delay now, but it'll be back.

Ah, thanks. I hope that development isn't halted too much. Really don't want pCARS to be delayed for like half a year. :(

When will they fix the problems with AMD cards? As I readed, the perfomance on AMD cards is pretty bad. And seeing Nvidia ads on the tracks in that Gamescon videos makes me think, do they have a deal with Nvidia and is this the reason why the game is running so bad on AMD cards?

There's no conspiracy here, nor any licensing. There's just as much talk with the AMD techs as with the nVidia techs behind the scenes.
Besides that, there are just as many WMD Members complaining about that on the inside. So you AMD lovers are heard.

Aren't the X1 and PS4 using AMD cards?

Yeah, that's why just recently some best practices (confirmed by AMD to be the best way about it for consoles and PC) were moved over from the X1 and PS4 development to the PC. This resulted in a 13% or more performance increase for AMD graphics card users.

I've been thinking that the delay might be related to how SMS intends to slide into the November release with a few things left to complete, and early updates to cap it off (or so we've been told). Whether it's due to some Nintendo policy about releasing "unfinished" software, the way updates are handled on NN, or the limited capacity of the 8GB Wii U, I'm guessing the point of it is to actually finish the Wii U version before shipping it out.

It's all speculation, but I don't think it will be delayed for half a year. I'm hoping for January, anyway.

Aren't the X1 and PS4 using AMD cards?

Yes but on PC I read that the game has problems with AMD cards. Or at least I read that it is not (yet) optimized for AMD cards.

There's a slight difference here. The optimisations that can be applied to the X1 and the PS4 can't neccessarily be applied to the PC AMD cards. Similar systems can be, and in fact the last major performance upgrade used this (I can't remember exactly, but I think it had something to do with the way the textures were applied to the models and the memory allocation. On the consoles, this resulted in a 40% increase in performance, the PC resulted in a 20% increase. There are more performance upgrades in the works, as listed above.

It's not that the game is unoptimised, it just doesn't perform as well as an equivilent nVidia card. Part of it lies with AMDs unwillingness to improve its drivers and settings unti after a product is released. I would expect to see some major increases in performance in the next couple of months.

I'm mostly worried about the fact Christmas is so close, so I'm sure development will halt for a while there. So, if the Wii U development is completely 'on ice' we could be waiting a while.

Nintendo let some stupid game called 'The Letter' onto Wii U and it's an unfinished piece of trash, worth looking up to see what counts as 'indie' these days.

If this whole secret is a Nissan license I'll be mad. I love Nissan, but you got my hopes up toooooo far to rip the rug out from under me

Anyway, I think it would be so funny if Pcars does the whole f1 thing better than code masters (may already be there)

@Classic -- I have heard of The Letter (I watched a complete playthrough that's shorter than most YouTube videos), and I have no clue why that one was allowed onto the eShop. But it's also not a retail title, something that probably involves a license and/or digital signature. After all, PCARS is indie-published but will be distributed traditionally, not just as an indie eShop download.

Yeah I just checked the AMD website for new drivers and saw that the last driver update was in May. Thats pretty bad. As I remember my early PC days (4-5 years ago) there was a new driver almost every week.

Do SMS plan to integrate Mantle?

They have moved up to 14.7b, apparently a new 14.8 is due soon.

SMS have always said they are trying to avoid hardware-specific software solutions, hence avoiding GPU-based Physx, but using CPU-based Physx instead. Mantle has been discussed, in-depth, but I think has either been left on the back-burner while the game is developed, or has been dismissed entirely, not sure which. All I know is that it probably won't be on release.

Project Cars Gaming PC Question:

Hello All,
Looking for a little help, I have 2 PS3’s and 1 PS4 (Which I purchased for my son).

I have been using a Logitech G27 Wheel and Pedal Set for years and to be honest I just assumed that it would work with PS4 and PCARS (I guess you should never assume, but I really didn’t give it much thought, it seemed like a given).

So, something happened the other day, my son actually started playing the PS4 and that got me thinking that I would need to buy another one for myself to use with PCARS. (Of course I already pre-ordered the PS4 version)

One thing that occurred to me was that there are not many wheels that are compatible with the PS4 as a matter of fact it seems only the Thrustmasters are so I would need to buy a PS4 and wheel, looks like the T300RS is the prefered wheel so I think that is around $400. That would bring me to at least $800 to be able to play Project Cars because I don’t really play a lot of other games (Call of Duty on occassion). The PC I was looking at is around $1,000, but as I said, I already have a G27 and don’t plan to use this for anything else as I use a late 2013 27” iMac as my primary desktop.

So now I am thinking it could make sense to build or buy a gaming machine. At least with a gaming PC, I could use almost any wheel currently available including my currently already owned Logitech G27 that would up the cost of admission pretty close it seems as I found a machine that seem like it should be suitable but I am looking for answers here. I would like to run Project Cars at max settings but some things are still not making sense to me such as:

I have seen videos on youtube listed as max everything and 1440p, I was considering a 4k UHD TV but currently have a 52” 1080p LG LCD TV, so it would make sense to me that I would be limited to 1080p, is that really Max on single screen? Doesn't seem to make sense as lots of PC's have much higher resolution, what will this look like?

I have also never run a PC to a TV via HDMI, is this the method that others are using?

Is Windows the OS People prefer or Steam?

So I guess the question is, what can I realistically expect from a PC with the following Specifications:

4th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-4770S processor
Features an 8MB L3 cache and 3.1GHz processor speed with Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz.

Project Cars Gaming PC Question: ...
You're thinking right there! :)

That setup will do you well. If anything, the first thing I'd consider "upgrading" there is the GPU, although a 760 should be a fine starting point. Windows is fine for gaming, and such a machine can be used for a lot of other things - it'd be plenty powerful for running heavy software.

A big TV with 1080p via HDMI is very nice and gives good framerates. Many of us, including myself, use just that and are happy with it.

Beware that many TVs have high "input lag" (not pixel response time). Most TVs have a game or PC mode exactly for the purpose of reducing lag. My TV is middle of the ground lag wise, and I'm OK with it even though I consider myself sensitive to lag. Having a powerful, smoothly running PC (as you outline) helps a great deal.

As mentioned previously, a PC is the next level of gaming freedom. And you get to keep your consoles on the side. My advice is to go for it!

Edit: Also, games are cheaper on PC.

Is this a self build or a off the shelf PC. as having just built my PC it was surprisingly easy
That you very well the PC I just built is amd equivalent but only 2gb on the gpu my average frame rate is 30 with everything on high if put some ultra is still stays about 25fps as console gamer I'm not used 60fps so I'm happy lower frame rate. I will be uploading a vid of the games performance on my computer in terms of frame rate I would expect 40+ due to the better gpu

Yesterday I bought an R9 280x from Asus. The jump from my 4-5 year old Radeon 5760HD was huuuge. On FullHD with -low/medium details I had 30FPS in Assetto Corsa. Then I put the 280x in and had 180FPS with the same settings.

Now I have 45-50 FPS in Assetto Corsa with everything on the absolute absolute max @fullhd with a grid of 16 cars (I still get this damn 95% CPU occupancy message). I mean really everything on the absolute maximum. Smoke, Mirror high resolution. AA and that other thing at 16 and 8. face per cube? at 6 I think it was. That new added effects at ultra.

How will Pcars perform with that card? Will I be able to play withe medium/high details and ~50FPS?

From Spanish to English

Project CARS is one of the stars of the genre of speed when it goes on sale in November, and the Gamescom 2014 has served to teach a powerful example of what it will offer. After attending a presentation with its director, Andy Tudor, we could run a race in Hockenheim with a car and test compatibility with Oculus Rift. Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport are going to have a tough competitor in the struggle for the throne of the simulation on consoles.

This fall will be a frenzy of racing games: Project CARS, Horizon Forza 2 DriveClub, F1 2014 and The Crew will be released in the very small margin of just six weeks. Of these, only the first is a pure and simple simulator, and have had occasion to test it in the context of the Gamescom 2014, in its version for PS4 and PC special version written for virtual reality viewer Oculus Rift . We also attended a presentation by Andy Tudor, creative director of the game, who could then share a few minutes was commissioned. If anything goes wrong within three months, the title of Slightly Mad Studios, which will be published Namco Bandai, starts from the "pole position" of the new generation.

For racers, by racers,

With CARS Project, aims to bring the most realistic consoles automotive simulation, which, apart from the sagas Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport, not too lavish consoles. It is a genre that is most widely used in PC, which shone titles like rFactor, iRacing and Assetto Corsa, considered by religious purists. Thus, PS4, Xbox and PC One in November will receive a title that has lasted three years in the making, a process that has a large active user community, providing both funding and subsequent testing betas. Wii U version has been delayed until 2015.

Note that Slightly Mad Studios has a great wealth of racing titles behind: GT-R, GT-R 2, GT Legends, Need for Speed Shift and Shift 2 Unleashed, five titles were well received by the review. All this accumulated experience will play for his new title, which has also worked as professional pilots Nicolas Hamilton, Ben Collins and Oli Webb, to ensure that the racing world is reflected as realistically as possible.

That loyalty will include many details inherent to racing world: tire wear, fuel consumption, pit stops, dynamic rain, day-night cycle, communications engineer is able to track ... flip training races, a detail that is often sneak in almost every specialty games. What does not seem that will be included is the safety car because we asked Andy Tudor and said it's something they want to enter, but have not yet done. Following this line, the career mode will allow us to experience the sporting life of a pilot, from the beginning in karting up to endurance racing prototype LMP1, passing cars or cars. It will be present even license tests as legendary as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Indianapolis 500.

Still not confirmed the total number of cars and tracks, but the fact that there is a community of users who had access to successive betas allows some estimates of the amount of content. There is talk of about 100 vehicles and 60 circuits, unless they decide to "save" things for future downloadable content, that is confirmed that there will be, as Andy Tudor commented that the intent of the study is that Project CARS is a game of very long course, a widespread feature among PC simulators, which are expanded greatly over the months and even years.

Among the manufacturers that have been spotted so far include legendary brands such as McLaren, Audi, BMW, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, RUF, Lotus ... The figure of 100 is perhaps crave a bit sparse (Forza Motorsport Series 5 included 200, for example, while Gran Turismo 5 was 1,200 at the time of its release), but it is not a concern, because everyone will be recreated in detail, both visually and sonically. Almost more important than cars, is the number of circuits, and there seems that the game itself will callus, unless the trick of the DLC is used. Hockenheim, Monza, Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Zolder, Imola, Oschersleben and Dubai Autodrome: Last week, eight tracks were confirmed. However, just seeing the trailers or multiple videos that are on YouTube, is common knowledge that are also designed Monaco, Spa-Francorchamps, Montmeló, Nurburgring, Laguna Seca, Brno, Willow Springs, Suzuka ... There will also be open highways, from one point to another, in places like California. Sure Slightly Mad Studios noted how disappointing it was that one of his rivals, Forza Motorsport 5, will premiere on the new generation just fifteen tracks.

Gamescom 2014 has served to get their hands on an advanced version of the title. First, we could try it on PS4, with a single-seater race in Hockenheim, beginning dry. Halfway through the test, he began to rain, and soon after, escampaba, with the clear intention to show that, indeed, the weather is variable. Then we could try a version of PC with Oculus Rift, allowing more accomplished feeling you've ever achieved in a racing game, when you move the user into the passenger compartment. For example, you can turn your head sideways to see the windows down to see the rider's feet and even manage pedals backwards. In particular, we marveled at the incidence of sunlight on the eyes, which can reach blind in a way that we had never felt before. The sense of speed increases. Of course, with glasses on, we noticed some loss of sharpness, with some jagged edges and a little "popping".

The PC version will be compatible with Oculus Rift from day one and with 4K resolution screens, so in exchange for a good bag billetones, we can convert the living room of our house in an authentic racing car: steering wheel virtual reality viewer and screen at full resolution. PS4 version will also support Project Morpheus, but for now, there is no confirmed date for the peripheral, so I have to wait. If well polished all the problems that entails virtual reality, we could be facing a new standard for enjoying the game speed.

We only got to play with a controller, but control is very responsive in the line of Gran Turismo or Forza, which looks like it will have nothing to envy. Individuals are accomplished and how the car responds very well. So much so that René Rast, winner of the 24 Hours of Nurburgring and the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps 2014 account at home with a complete game simulator for training. His videos are evidence of this.

In case you you wonder about the possible compatibility of wheels for PS4 and Xbox One, Andy Tudor commented that, for now, not surprisingly, have only been able to reconcile those at work on those platforms. Thus, if the Logitech wheels are not yet considered in the compatibility list, it is because the manufacturer has not made its peripherals are valid on those platforms, which does not depend on Slightly Mad Studios.

Yes, the demo was not completely integrated system damage. We tried to stamp us at 200 km against a wall and although the nose was broken and was a huge mark on the wall, car handling was not affected. It was probably because it was not implemented in the demo, because the study has already confirmed a while there would be a realistic damage system. Still, many aid will be configured so that the simulation is minimized and that any user may experience.

Technically, there were several things that caught our attention. The first is the existence of more cameras which are common in the genre. Besides the typical external cameras or not display anything but what is in front of the vehicle, there is one located just behind the wheel and one on the pilot's helmet visor. In the PC version, we saw even one located on the opposite side behind the wheel, inside the cabin, as you usually click on the television broadcasts of cars. The latter is not very playable, but looks great. Second, with the right stick, we can tip the driver's head to look sideways into the sky or down to see the detail of legs playing with the brake pedal and accelerator. Third, with the arrows, we can turn-off the lights or activate the wipers. Finally, in the version of PS4, we really liked the detail that the information transmitted track engineer (position, weather changes, position changes, accidents, etc.) come through the speaker Dual Shock 4 For if you ask yourselves by the resolution and frame rate per second, Andy Tudor told us that is not yet decided, and the optimization process of the game has not yet been done, but we dropped that seems very well what they have done Forza Horizon 2 and DriveClub with 1080p and 30 fps. What we do is that we will specify the maximum number of cars on track 32 on PC & 20 on consoles

In the "pole" of the new generation

Project CARS is one of the most promising of those games come to PS4, Xbox and PC this fall One (Wii U will have to wait until 2015). Originally planned also out on PS3 and Xbox 360, but Slightly Mad eventually dismiss that possibility to offer the best possible visual realism, unlike what many companies have done, yet reluctant to part with more than 160 million users who added between the two "old" consoles from Sony and Microsoft. Anyway, after trying it at Gamescom 2014, the game aims high, with the added advantage that, but leave many speed games in the coming months, this is the only one that goes all the simulation (case , F1 2014 would be the only one who could reach equiparársele, but only out for PS3, 360 and PC, so except computers, it is not a direct rival). The variety of competitions, the day-night cycle, dynamic weather, compatibility with virtual reality or controlling demanding place the new simulator Slightly Mad Studios in a position of privilege.

PC demo with oculus rift, can people play it with a steering wheel?

Having a controller in your hands instead of the wheel when wearing Rift, can get quite confusing, I assume.

Please tell me that they are assuming this from the demo.. :scared:
We've already mentioned we can have 64 guys in a lobby on PC at the moment
32 and 20 are probably worse case senarios with optimisation the number will probably increase.
But the limiting factor is the frame rate drop max I can have in a race depends on track and cars I've had 40 on track and stayed at about 30fps
But tracks like imola I have to a lot less due to the track being more demanding.

as mentioned above it will vary but you should be able to I can get 30 ish on high/ med with 2gb

First, thanks for translating all of that.

The highlighted bit surprises me. Perhaps I haven't been following closely but I expected the most authentic race sim on the planet to have safety cars. SMH.

I've been told it maybe part of a day 1 update, so there isn't anything to show yet
