They hold back a few cars to only the limited edition to make it more appealing for extra money. I know this is not ideal for the customers, but how does a few cars "ruin" a great game? They are still a business in the end..

There have been plenty of LE, and pre order bonus things going on for years now.. please point out one example that it ruined a good game?

Hell all I know is that I was able to pre order it for $49.99 with a price match guarantee for a game I was expecting to pay $59.99 for.

Preorder price for PS3/4 Xbone & 360 standard edition in germany is 70€! That are $94!!That´s why I would never preorder any game. For 50€ I will buy it, not more.

No they made a deal with a distributor though (Namco Bandai) and there are surely business implications. Namco is going to distribute (i.e. sell) the game, so they probably have ideas about how to go about it. The game is still self-published, i.e. SMS decides how to make the game, but not necessarily how to distribute or sell it.
It appears to me that this info is incorrect. If you look in stores Namco Bandai is in deed the publisher of the game. I thought that was the case.

Put a 50 or 60$ price tag on it, some 10% discount for pre-order and you're done. Why complicate such simple things?

As it seems, it is necessary to give people something special/extra/exclusive for a limited time only to make them preorder. Furthermore this makes people order and pay for a game before release, before most reviews come out, before friends buy it and before you know the game's not worth the hype. This is the idea behind pre-orders: Make people buy no matter how good the game is.

They're playing it, but they're not playing all of it. Where are the videos with pit strategies, pit stops related to weather, warnings/penalties, DQ's, all of that stuff that make a long endurance style race worth it. That's a huge part of the game and I'm hoping to see some positive comments about it in the near future.

Except this is a big fat exception in that we have GTP members who are already playing the game...

I have been since 2011 for example.

Personally I wouldn't mind getting a limited edition for myself. The book with the behind the scenes stories is a nice thing for me, as it will allow me to reminisce in the future about the awesome 3 years I had as a WMD member working on this project together with many awesome people from SMS but also those who became fellow members.

For the rest... I'll leave the whole Limited Edition debate to everyone else here. ;)

No. Namco Bandai's business is both distribution and publishing, so it's probably easy for some to mix that up. For Project CARS their role is that of distributor. Go here and here for information from the horse's mouth. The distinction between distributor and publisher have been made more than clear at WMD.

Edit to add: We see a lot of mixing up or equating publisher and distributor. To most people the distinction probably doesn't matter, but as we know it's two very different things. To those reading here and wondering, the publisher has the creative control, while the distributor "only" gets the game out to the shops (and may do marketing and some other stuff). In the case of SMS and Project CARS the whole point is that SMS do the publishing bit themselves to retain the creative and production control.

ps3 launch titles were $120 ausd. Now that was ten years ago, this is being released at $80 ausd. With everything else around the world getting more expensive how can anyone say that game makers are " nickle and dining" us considering current games have so much more content for a lower price ?

we do play for long time periods of time however it is often not racing as the feed back needed lends to a focused style of play but i do regularly do multiple stops in a free practice

I will pre order this game no matter what, I just hope they don't pull a Codemasters and drop the price down to 50 USD at the end of the week and 40 USD after 2 weeks.

^ Nothing conclusive yet. It's heavily WIP, being wrapped up these days. There will be a choice of tires, and not generic ones, but ones that are appropriate for each car.

Im gonna break this all up and ask a question.

Is there any current info on tire compounds? (Soft, Med, Hard, Wet)

It's being regularly adjusted as you will see in the change logs I think in some cases we have 5 or 6 compounds but the community is providing feedback on the ones to keep and the ones to discard.

Also for those interested I have now installed pcars on the jack frags specked machined and will upload some videos to

So.... Subaru World Of Speed Licence :D Just saying... again... like I do with all WOS cars!

Those Evos need some friends

Hi, I got I question about racing in pCars... There will be any chance to create our own team and compete online with other teams? Will we be able to create our own liveries for our cars? I don't know if there will be a livery creator on the console versions of the game, as PS4 or One..

Thanks!
A greeting :)

There is planned a system to create your own team, incuding roles such as team manager, chief mechanic, etc., but we're not sure how those are going to be implemented yet. The livery editor is doubtful to be on the disc, but it may be part of a week 1 update. Other things are taking priority at the moment, and as soon as we have some concrete details on this, we will let you know.
