Heading to GAME right now, Will report back how bad or how good it actually looks!

Really worried now considering i sold my Xbone due to thinking the PS4 version would be better :banghead:

As I said yesterday.

Here are my views as of two weeks ago... (Old builds so keep a lid on your meltdowns) :)👍...

If you don't like this motion technique, the weakest AF, and framerate drops... Get an Xbox or PC.

If you don't like more screen tearing, the weakest image quality and framerate drops... Get a PS4 or PC.

If you don't want any of the above... Get a decent PC.

If you just want a blast round with your mates and don't give a **** about any of this... You're my kind of dude

Make sure you do the following tests:
Slow at turn 1 and turn through the corner slowly, look at the track detail and car in front as you do! Watch it turn from crystal to mud!

Next, go slow,y down the straight swerving (like warming your tyres) and watch the track detail such as crowds, stands, trees etc.. They come 1 giant colour / smear no detail is retained at all during lateral motion.

I will admit, on the straights it's perfectly fine and just looks like motion blur (which I hate but can live with).

If you are a stickler for detail, clarity and quality you won't like what you see, I can assure you :(

or you could race hard into the first corner looking for a gap to shoot, and weave your way down the straight just clearing bumpers and setting up turn 2

I really don't see the big deal? Has everyone suddenly become six years old?
It's ok if it doesn't affect you, it's great.
But you should not believe that just because it doesn't affect you, means it doesn't affect others. I'm happy I was able to find this out today and play pcars in game as it allowed me to make an informed, educated decision based on my enjoyment and value for money. I prefer lesser gfx over smeared gfx and now I can have that.

Perhaps you worry about other things that we don't care about ;) it's all good!

There is no ghosting during game play. Case closed.

I hope you are right and it is only when paused. Some people are reporting it is visible during gameplay which can be very distracting :yuck: There has to be a demo of this game so people can judge themselves or something official from devs if it can be corrected via patch

But you need to get off the fence as it sounds like your scared to make a commitment one way or the other?

I opt for the PC version. As for the console versions, I'll play the XBox version shortly and see what that it like.

The fact that everyone is having this conversation is a good thing, videos don't lie. You can see the game warts and all. That's why I send content to Gamersyde in giving everyone the best content I can in seeing the game from every angle.

I hope the content produced has been informative and insightful.

I can't make your minds up for you, and what you like will always be your personal opinion.

Good luck finding that gap when the cars are a blur and you are unable to correctly judge the impact distance ;) the ghosting is / isn't may/ may not be used as part of the collision detection? Do we know this? Either way it's an additional issue.

Assumption is the mother of all **** ups. Technically you are doing the same thing now by assuming the Xbox version will be better. My advice to everybody is wait 6 days, weigh up your options. you still get the LE cars if you pre-order 1 day before.

Oh and BTW this was discussed by Digital Foundry over 2 weeks ago, then on GAF, maybe here too, IDK.

But what if I am buying the Wii U version!? :P

thanks. your videos and support for this game have been great, looking forward to seeing what's to come. i'll be playing it on PS4 no matter what issues it may have. keep up the good work!

Just back from GAME. Did three laps round spa in the Ariel atom.

Didn't notice any ghosting but wasn't really looking as I was in the middle of a 35 car field.

The quality looked perfectly fine to me. What did annoy me is the pit engineer. Told me to pit after the first corner for fuel! Was told to pit every lap even on the last one before the bus stop!

Agreed, but if you want us to pay for content (which I'm first in line for doing as I think you do an awesome job) you need to be willing to make a commitment and help us make our mind up! We need your info to assist in our decision making, and if you want to charge for it, you need to make it worth out while!

Look at the likes of DXO etc who provide scientific analysis, and to a lesser degree DF! They brake it down and tell it like it is. If you are just going to skate around the edges what's the incentive for us to pay you?

Can you understand my point.
If you pay me I'll give you no informative or definitive information that can't assist in decision making? That's not a good business model Alan. And this is coming from a fellow you tuber and fan!

go back and LOOK PROPERLY!!! don't leave until you see those ghosts!

hopefully there's an option to mute your pit engineer.

Yes there is. But this is normally not an issue, I really like my pit engineer..he gives important information and even more important...he is the (former) Stig :D

i know what you're saying but essentially everything he will say is just his opinion. make your own mind up, dude.

actually yes, i was being harsh. i quite like the dialogue they've recorded for this game. just wish there was a Hamilton-mode where you could say "stop talking to me!"

That's kimi mode. Hamilton is just trying to keep up with the best :D

I hope they will improve the engineer even further. I miss statements like "3 laps left" "this is the last lap"..would have been really helpful yesterday in the Formula rookie car as they don't have a Motec display

It's supposed to be due to the way they have implemented AA on PS4 rather than it being motion blur...Being able to turn it off would most likely make it look like a jaggyfest.

What us PS4 owners need is for them to use the same AA on PS4 as they do Xbone even if it brings the picture down to 900p
I disagree, the Temporal AA used on the PS4 is independent of the Motion Blur. The Blur is an effect on top to smooth out the perceived frame rate, together with some other tricks.

If you have the ability to hit a button and turn the pit engineer on and off on the fly, it would have been golden if it was accompanied by, "leave me alone, I know what I'm doing"

I agree, but I can't make a decision without the source. This is why I used DXO etc to assist in my camera purchase. I can't buy every camera and use them all. I subscribe to a group who do all the testing, provide the results and I judge based on my wants and needs which camera is best for me.

Do I need 10fps but with a crop factor or full frame, less noise, slower burst speed but larger buffer? Well.. As a repsol rider at knockhill I need the fast fps for capturing my mates when they are on track. so I went with lesser quality but faster fps in my 7dmkii ... However had dxo stated it was junk quality I would have made a different choice thanks to their info.

It's common sense to get as much info as possible before you make a purchase dude ;)
