I agree, but I can't make a decision without the source. This is why I used DXO etc to assist in my camera purchase. I can't buy every camera and use them all. I subscribe to a group who do all the testing, provide the results and I judge based on my wants and needs which camera is best for me.

Do I need 10fps but with a crop factor or full frame, less noise, slower burst speed but larger buffer? Well.. As a repsol rider at knockhill I need the fast fps for capturing my mates when they are on track. so I went with lesser quality but faster fps in my 7dmkii ... However had dxo stated it was junk quality I would have made a different choice thanks to their info.

It's common sense to get as much info as possible before you make a purchase dude ;)

if anyone says the 7D is no good you should just stop listening to anything they have to say. although I would've gone for the Sony A7R instead :) or even the A6000 if fast fps was needed.

It's supposed to be due to the way they have implemented AA on PS4 rather than it being motion blur...Being able to turn it off would most likely make it look like a jaggyfest.

What us PS4 owners need is for them to use the same AA on PS4 as they do Xbone even if it brings the picture down to 900p
nah...the vast majority of ps4 fans would not accept a game that is not 1080p...blame Sony for pushing that and using it as a marketing tool....I will always go with a solid frame rate and no funny effects over 1080p, but I hope day 1 patch fixes this issue and ps4 players can enjoy the game.

You made your decision in your very first post on this forum.

Nice trollin though I'll give you that.
Eh yes, based on all info available at the time. Info is now updated and changed, as mas my decision? Do you still think the world is flat? I'm open to changing my mind, it's a sign of intelligence!

Eh yes! If an opponents car is displaying on screen in location "A" AND location "B" do you know, for sure, right now, where the collision detection registeres contact? If it's the ghost section, we need to compensate for that, if it's not the ghost section we also need to know we can drive through some parts of the car without contact and therefore must compensate for that. Jesus. Some People In here have no clue, and just refuse to open their mind and educate themselves. Buy it, but don't complain when the collision detection knocks you off track or similar when you didn't touch anything!

7dmkii is good, but does get some negative reviews from the FF users, however that's the trade off. The Sony was no good for me as I needed a fast VF too and the EVF in low light just can't keep up with a pentaprism ;)

These were MY needs but as I suggested, others have other needs and FF of EVF/Mirrorless are great for those who need those for their needs ;)

I think you should not say people have no clue when you yourself have no clue how collision detection in games is working. AA is rendering/visual effect, it has no bearing on collision detection whatsoever. So cut the attitude.

That was exactly my point! It will have an effect one way or another! If it means we can literally drive through a cars ghost its forcing us to driver differently as its affecting the usual way we would determine collision detection.
We don't know, hence its another issue "EITHER WAY"

Maybe just buy the xbone version, like you said you would 3 pages back. I get it's an issue but there is 6-7 pages of discussion on this one thing

It has nothing to do with Sony. In fact they have made console dev friendly if anything.

The best thing to do is for Sony to make demos mandatory (No BS like - it do not say it does not represent the final quality and this build or that build nonsense). So people even spending little time can have some idea of how the game will look and play and help them make the decision.

Welcome, @VVV Mars VG (Alan)! Didn't know you were a member here. If you are able to, could you direct the SMSRenderTeam here and let them chime in on the 'ghosting' issue - seeing how they've been willing to correct DF and even adding to the discussion regarding LOD & AF? on NeoGAF before?

I did, order placed. But it seems the chosen ones got into a little CJ and got offended because I made a choice that had no impact on them AFTER I provided my results after playing the game TODAYon a PS4 in GAME Edinburgh?

They haven't played it, I have. It bugs me, I changed my order, it's simple really but they are on me about my life choices lol

Right, back from Game, Edinburgh (thanks @kkdrummer for the heads-up!). Played two laps of Laguna Seca with the Z4 GT3 and no opponents (only noticed after I'd started, d'oh). Then Road America with Formula B, this time set AI to 70 and 44 opponents.

First, I'll get the blur thing out the way, yes, it's there, like RespolRider says, it's only really on turning, not on the straights but IMO, as much as I'd rather not have it, I didn't think it was as bad as the videos make it out to be. I ended up off the track half the time looking for it but once I concentrated on the racing, I didn't notice it as much either. So, my LE edition arriving a week today is still intact and I'm happy with that. I understand other may not be so easy about it. Also, I don't have an Xbox One and my old laptop isn't up to the job and I really want this game!

Thought it played quite well with the controller, it seemed over sensitive at first but I think this pays off when you're at higher speeds. The progression through the triggers for braking and accelerating seemed pretty good. Still, can't wait to play this with my T300!

Probably worst thing was with my second race as noted above, as I accelerated off the line, I crashed straight into the back of the car in front, it was like they were sleeping when the lights went green! As the field spread out though, it seemed much better. By the end of the second lap, I was hardly catching anyone although my driving wasn't the best :-)

Overall, very happy and can't wait for next Friday....even although I'm out Friday night and away with lads til Tuesday, grrrr.........

That would not be possible for developers like SMS. This takes some resources. If they released a demo, people would complain about a delay to june

Thank you for that ;)

As I said, it might not affect everyone, but it's there for sure, especially on Turning, it affected me enough to change my DPO to Xbo (I have both console so no biggie) but glad you can live with it. That's good news :)

Cheers ;)
I was there about an hour or so before, i work over on George street (live in Fife and ride @ knock hill) We must work 5 mins from each other as I'm sure you said you worked in west end, so near shandwick Or haymarket, where as I'm near tiger lily :)

That's what I have noticed in a load of online videos ive seen. Seems that the starts is one of the areas that PCars hasn't excelled at. The AI seem to be dithery at the start meaning if you time it correctly you can make up quite a few rows into turn 1. Seems pretty wrong. It always looks like the reaction times when the lights go green seem very slow too, for AI and for the user.

Good luck finding that gap when the cars are a blur and you are unable to correctly judge the impact distance ;) the ghosting is / isn't may/ may not be used as part of the collision detection? Do we know this? Either way it's an additional issue.
This AA/Blur effect happens on objects that are in motion across the screen. When in traffic, looking for a gap, the other cars will have relatively low velocities relative to you (and hence the screen), and therefore there will probably be little to no ghosting in that situation. Collision is with the model, the ghosting is an after-image, and you will not collide with that.

Ok just back from playing the full game for around 25 mins...3 races using the Merc GT3, Clio Cup & Zonda on Spa and Dubai

+ Blur is defo there but it's not as bad in person as the videos, Reckon once used to it you'l not notice it as much and no where near as game breaking as i thought it would be. Would much rather it was not there at all though.

+ Felt like i was skating on ice with the controller really struggled to keep the car on the road half the time but did only do 3 or 4 laps each race so no heat in tyresand was using manual gears with no sound and the mapped gears are in an awful postion (L1 & R1)

+ Graphics look good but not jaw dropping was expecting it to look much better than Forza 5 which is coming up to 2 years old and am not sure it does (need more time on my TV)

+ The road looks like one big smear like Forza 5 when moving...Why no textures? Or Very little textures?

+ Loved the lighting

Game employee came over to talk to me while playing asking what i thought of it, When i explained the blurriness to him he replied they were made aware of it and it would be patched day 1 (Could well be lies from him though just wanting me to pre order)

Overall though i came away happy as my main concern was how bad the blurriness looks in the videos but as i said in person it's not as bad. I think my main concern now is how the road looks as right now it looks like someone had put vaseline all over it (Could well be the Sony LED they use)

Roll on release thogh and being able to play with a wheel.

Oh and Dubai is an absolute nightmare of a track if you dont know it, Kept on going the wrong way.

Controller wise, it's tricky and you probably need to spend some time to tune it to your liking. Defaults don't work for everyone. They do work well for some though.

About the road blurring, not sure if it's an older build they have or not. If it is, could be due to lower AF setting, which devs said was upped. If it's the final build, hope it's improved later on.

About the ice feeling: Cold tires pared with a new game and a controller. This will be gone once your tires got some (1-3) laps and you are used to the steering

Keep in mind that there are multiple controller presets. If you find the default (Mode 3 afaik) too twitchy you should try mode 2.

Told ya

Two Words: Motion Blur. It seems to be a trend today to cover the awesome texture work under a big lump of smear unfortunately.

Completely unnecessary @60 fps imo

agreed! I played it yesterday and after a lap and a half in Silverstone I was able to drive a bit better....a bit because setting up the controller will be essential in Pcars.

Make sure you do the following tests:
Slow at turn 1 and turn through the corner slowly, look at the track detail and car in front as you do! Watch it turn from crystal to mud!

Next, go slow,y down the straight swerving (like warming your tyres) and watch the track detail such as crowds, stands, trees etc.. They come 1 giant colour / smear no detail is retained at all during lateral motion.

I will admit, on the straights it's perfectly fine and just looks like motion blur (which I hate but can live with).

If you are a stickler for detail, clarity and quality you won't like what you see, I can assure you :(

Had already left by the time i had seen this so didnt do as you said but yeah track detail is pretty much non existent it is just a big smear. Will be intereresting if this is just a PS4 only issue.

Lets see what the day one patch brings as according to the game employee the blurriness is a known issue and is getting sorted for day one.

Since there are different opinions popping up here, did anybody take into account that the TVs used for displaying the game could be bad or not set in game mode? This could exaggerate the ghosting.

Frame interpolation, 600hz mode or whatever these crappy post processes are called in consumer TVs MUST be switched off at all time, especially when gaming. Its easily recognizeable by the infamous "soap effect" and i bet 80% of TV owners/users never heard of it or are aware of this mess. If a dedicated 'game' mode exists, this function should be disabled automatically.

Yea, that's why I went and tested it for myself, make an informed decision. This is how it looked to me, and how much I noticed it, and it was too much/distracting "for me"

Not my file, but this is exactly how it looked to my eyes today, but it doesn't seem to bother everyone to the same degree. Horses for courses I think. I'm happy and I'm sure everyone else will be too as it won't bother everyone.

A little worried as I have pre ordered on ps4 , I do have an xbox one also but I bought a T300GTE for the PS , Thinking I might be selling the T300 and swapping it for the Xbone equivalent if this is a big issue . Would be nice for them in the know to say whether this is an issue that's resolvable .

If it was as bad as that for me today i'd of walked out of GAME crying :nervous:
