Project CARS - Logitech Wheels NOT Supported on PS4

I have a g27. If I buy a comparable thrustmatser wheel eventually, is there any way of still using my g27 shifter/pedals? This would be ps4 not pc

I'm asking the same thoughts.. the thrustmaster pedal port is a phone jack insert, g27 pedals are pin point ports. I wish it was compatible with t300rs.

But who knows maybe, maybe not.

I haven't read any results specifically for the Logitech DFGT on PS4 test. I can confirm that mine starts up when plugged into the USB port but like the other Logitech wheels, all controls are unresponsive.

I would be interested to know Logitech's answer to the following question.

"Logitech are no longer in the peripherals market for consoles. How much have the following factors contributed to this?

1 Restrictions put in place by console manufacturers

2 Force feedback licensing issue"

We may find that there will be more new wheels coming out soon (or we may not). I'm certainly getting the game on PS4 initially. It sounds like the Thrustmaster T100 is below the quality of the DFGT. I'm hoping we see a decent cheaper wheel (around ÂŁ200?) released by someone.

Can anyone with access ask the question on the WMD forums if the DS4s controller's motion sensor could be used as a wheel substitute in PS4? That might be a viable short term alternative to a wheel until Father Christmas (wifey) possibly sorts me out in December.

Don't forget that the T300 is PS branded not GT branded.

For GT5/6 we had two official GT wheels: DFGT at €100ish and T500RS at €500ish. I find it quite likely that we can expect a similar set of new branded wheels at the launch of GT7...

Assuming Thrustmaster remains the partner of choice, it would make sense to build a T100 type wheel with 900 degrees for say €150-200 to slot in below the €370 T300, and we may also see a replacement to the T500 with brushless motors, larger wheel rim and decent pedals to sit above the T300.

It' still early days for next gen console peripherals. :)

yes, the problem is that if you base your choices on gt7 you'll buy a wheel in 20andnever and i want to play pcars now. I'm trying to say myself to wait but i already know i'll buy everything on 21november XD

I asked the question to all parties regarding the compatibility of G25 with PS4.
These are the relies:

Playstation- Just to let you know that we, unfortunately are not allowed to discuss 3rd party products. The only thing I could advise would be to contact Logitech.

I hope this helps, but if you have any other questions please contact PlayStation Support using the contact details below or by replying to this e-mail.

Logitech-
I understand from you that you would like information regarding the compatibility of G25 Racing Wheel with PS4.

The compatibility of the wheel in the case of Playstation is provided by the game itself, at the PS4 has USB port, technically it should not be a problem for G27/G25 but we must refer to the game developer to check if it is supported. At this time Project Cars has announced that only the Thrustmaster brand is supported with their game.

Logitech usually provide the drivers to game developers to include a give support to the wheel, finally is a decision of them to include them to support the wheel or not.

Codemasters-
Thank you for submitting your recent request to Codemasters Customer Services concerning F1 2014.

Unfortunately we do not have those type of details on the game at the current time. Full details will be made available on our website, closer to the game's release date.

Project cars- NO REPLY- The website does state "Slightly Mad Studios is committed to ensuring as many wheels and controllers are supported at launch as possible." However they do seem to have a contract with Thrustmaster but its not a definite no to other wheel compatibility.

Clarification would be nice but what are you to do. If Logitech say they can be used if the game developers add the drivers, you would have to say that its the game developers shafting everyone. Probably end up needing a different wheel for every game. Money over logic.

Don't know if it will make a difference, but cant do any harm. Sign this petition

The Logitech response that you've posted is so badly written, has such poor grammar & is contrary to what they've said previously. With this in mind, I find it pretty hard to believe that this is genuine

I have a G25 and would love for it to be compatible with PS4. I wont be buying a PS4 until i can get confirmation and proof that it will. Im not trying to blame anyone or deceive anyone. These are the genuine replies i got, copy and pasted from the original email. Read into it what you want. Only trying to help and get the result we all want. Full compatibility.

So the question is, who's at fault here and why. Does this fall on sony. I personally have an old gt driving force wheel so I need to upgrade anyway. I'm getting thrustmaster t300-t3pa pedals-th8a shiffter. This is what I had wanted to buy before I had really been schooled on the current battle of peripheral Compatability with consoles. But I tell you, I almost feel guilty for giving thrustmaster money if it's true they have made a deal with sony to be exclusive. This is b.s. But what is the real deal. Who is in control of making the decision on what ps4 can use and cannot use. With pc it's up to the game developers right. Why can't it be that way with ps4. I guess win it comes right down to it, it's corporate greed controlling how much money we spend in order for us to enjoy the game the way we want to play it. Console owners should have the same freedom to use whatever driving peripheral we want. I'm going to be following this very closely and hope they "whoever is responsible" can see the mess they have made and realizing money doesn't grow on trees. It drives me crazy that someones at home right now and has everything thing need, meaning a ps4, wheel pedals ect. of there choice and should only have to wait for project cars release date and be ready to go. But now find out they have to go spend another 600 or 700 dollars to match the setup they have now. This really pisses me off. I really hope for people in this situation That everything works out. and whatever petitions that are out to be signed or anything to support this matter please let me know and I will help.

Be that as it may, I still find it hard to believe that the Logitech response is genuine. Previously it was Sony's stance that it was up to each game developer to provide support to the various wheels. Logitech later stated that the reason for the incompatibility between their wheels and the PS4 was due to the fact that USB peripherals require a "security chip" to function fully & that their legacy wheels do not have this "security chip".

It makes no sense for a game developer not to provide support for these wheels, also SMS do support Logitech (& Fanatec) wheels on PC http://www.projectcarsgame.com/beyond-reality.html

Perhaps someone at Logitech trolled you.

It will be interesting to see if an exclusive like DriveClub can support the older wheels, if it is really true that it's up to the game developers. I believe there is a piece of this puzzle that is not being exposed by Sony. Can you image how well the exclusives could sell if they "can" support the older wheels while the outsiders like SMS can't without the puzzle piece that Sony holds. Makes you wonder... more should surface in the next 3-5 months. Alliances are made all the time - I will scratch your back if you scratch mine!

Drive club supported wheels list is already out (i read an article two weeks ago), and it's like project cars one, only t300, t500, t80, t100 on ps4. Moreover in drive club wheels will be locked to 720 degrees.

Rustchynsky also noted in another tweet that Driveclub will not support the Logitech G27 steering wheel “upon release”. He didn’t specify anymore details. Hopefully the G27 is supported in Driveclub post launch. It’s an expensive piece of hardware and would be a shame if you cannot use it on your PS4 with a game like Driveclub.

It's true that developer's can decide which drivers they put in there game. For the PC version they support pretty much all the wheels. so that tells me they do support all the wheels. Ok I can scratch SMS off the list. It's sony and thrustmaster. It's got to be. Sms can only support what sony allows them to. It's sonys console. It's sony telling Sms only thrusmaster. That is the only conclusion I can come to. It makes since. So the questions to be asked are: Dear sony, Do you have some kind of deal with thrusmaster to only use there driving peripherals. Now I know we won't get a reply. I just hope they realize they have screwed up and this is wrong.

The project cars your questions answered video that Playstation access did, I believe it was the second or third question asked but look at how Andy answers that question. The question was about 3rd party driving peripherals being allowed. He starts by saying "yes just look at are Web site. There is thrust master. And then he kind of pauses then he's like, yes just look at the Web site. You can tell by his reaction he just screwed up. He didn't mean to nor was it he's fault. He's designing the game for all platforms. And he was also being interviewed by a lot of people that day. It's Sony guys. It's not like he wouldn't want to put all the drivers in the Sony ps4 addition. Watch the video real quick and you will see what I mean. It's Playstation acsess. Project Cars your questions ansewered. You'll see what I mean when he stumbles over his words you'll see it. Watch it and let me know what you think.

guys instead of moaning here, sign the online petition for logitech wheels to be supported on ps4. There are already almost 700 signatures. Thanks FLX1981.
I don't think they are moaning, it's there wallet. Petition sighned. Good luck guys.

Sorry. I'm pretty new here and still learning all the tricks. I'll work on it.

I've signed all the petitions and voted on the playstation ideas blog etc etc...

Simple fact is, I own a G27 and GT5+GT6, and I will not be purchasing a PS4 and GT7 if I can't use my G27. I will simply continue to play GT6. I'm actually quite happy not to pay for a PS4!

My suspicion is that developers CAN make the logitech/fanatec wheels work if they put in the effort to do it, and I suspect that PD will probably do this, because their game will not sell well if they don't.

I think a lot of people are kidding them selves as the Thrustmaster T300 released and sold out same day (I'm in UK dispatched from France) I was a G25 owner upgraded as the wheel was dated anyway and wanted to get the same lifespan out of this wheel now.

No matter what is said if they have made the choice I think they will stick with it and the games and consoles will still continue to sell.

I'm only 350 post in this thread and only 3065 petitions so them number won't bother them.

I'd rather pay now and enjoy upcoming games like Driveclub and Project Cars and be all ready for GT7.

What did you pay for the basic wheel once shipping paid and converted to UK?

Gran Turismo is probably around 95% pad players. Even if there's a million wheel users on GT, you could block them all and still the sales figures would be close to 10 million.

I would think there's only around 300k who have used a wheel on GT5

What do you base this suspicion on?

It's technically possible to reverse engineer a driver (or a protocol) and make a reimplementation of it work. However, it's very involved and extremely time consuming compared to the first party just reimplementing it from their sources and knowledge. I don't think it's fair, or indeed realistic, to expect every game studio out there to launch into such projects. There may even be a legal problem as reverse engineering is often explicitly forbidden by the first parties. In short, it's not going to happen, and it's no fault of the gaming studios.

Add to that I can't see a Sony first party studio or any studio for that matter, contravening Sony's wishes in this matter. They didn't put the security chip in there for :censored:s and gaggles. If there is a workaround it'll come from a someone working independently IMO.

The Thrustmaster T500 RS works on PS4 without a Security Chip, so why can't other wheels like the G25 & G27 be made to work as well?

What about GT Academy? Become a real life driver with an gamepad :D

I know, it was rhetorical... but for polemics sake: It's corporate politics implemented by means of protectionism chips obsolescence chips "security chips", denials, managerial incompetence/arrogance/contempt-for-customers, fog-of-war and such. Welcome to the bereaved brave new world... :banghead:

Edit:  :dopey: :P  <= therapeutic emos to relieve stress, tension and disappointment. Not so much for me though, as I run Project CARS on my PC :)

My theory is that Thrustmaster have been a good 3rd party and licensed their new wheels to Sony (T80 then t300) including the security chip which is mandatory to allow a peripheral to behave as a full controller. This licensing allowed them to implement relevant drivers into the PS4 OS.

It just so happens that those drivers are 100% compatible with the T100 and T500.... And I suspect all we are seeing is piggy back of the older devices via the drivers for the newer devices. No support as controller in PS4 menus, but useable in game.

Obviously Logitech isn't likely to license a wheel for PS4, so it seems unlikely that there will be any change unless Logitech changes their stance.

But hey, the PS4 is here to stay for 6-8 years. Now granted my G25 still works great and it's from early 2008, but I bet most people will get new wheel hardware at some point. Perhaps at such time as something compelling arrives on console, or instead of upgrading the PC yet again.... And the market will gradually migrate over to supporting the consoles, so this whole discussion will be moot in a few years: Perhaps even "Logi-who?"
