Project CARS - Logitech Wheels NOT Supported on PS4

That doesn't explain Sony not supporting Fanatec wheels though...

If I wanted to buy a wheel for ps4, knowing I want a load cell brake, I would need to buy a T500rs (no load cell mods for t3pa rubbish plastic pedals), a th8a, and a load cell mod like a ricmotech load cell for t500rs. The grand total of that set up for me would be well over $1000aud! If I bought a fanatec csr, with crs elite pedals, that come standard with a load cell, and look better quality than the t500 pedals, and get the shifter with it, it would only cost me $560aud. From what I've read, the T500rs wheel itself is a little better than a csr, but not as good as a csw, but at around double the price of a full csr set up with the elite pedals, there is no chance it is THAT much better...

Fanatec needs to pay to sony like others did in the past, even logitech did.
Even in the PS3 Fanatec it's emulated by logitech driver.
You need to ask to Fanatec, since they still are in the business, when they will provide a wheel for PS4, they said they're planning, but when?

If Thrustmaster has a deal with Sony then it will all depend on when this expires.

It does appear as though Sony have locked the PS4 down pretty tight and removed the ability to use almost most PS3 compatible hardware. This makes business sense to them, but it's upsetting millions of gamers when they realise that their gear no longer works on a new console. Even something as simple as a headset can be a problem.

I don't feel it's up to me to contact every company to make sure they all play nice. I think the responsibility is Sony's to make sure they support third party peripherals that their potential customers use. Otherwise, they simply lose those customers. I say this as a long time Sony supporter.
Yep. 👍

I've been a Sony customer for over 15 years, I've happily purchased lots of their products firmly in the belief that I was buying the best I could afford. :) Sadly I think that the console market has been changing in the past 10 years or so, basically since the PS2. Now console's rely heavily on the internet which enables game developers to invent DLC which we have to pay for. This became a good little money spinner and ever since the whole industry has become ever more greedy. :( I hope to god that this industry gets their act together soon because it has become silly.

I still maintain that the best gaming experience that I've ever had was playing on a Super Nintendo. It was simple, really good fun, hassle/bug free games and everything worked right out of the box.

Xbox and PlayStation have got greedy, they want all of your money and they're doing a damn good job of extracting it from people, especially with this new generation of console's.

Yeah I think they have just gotten greedy. A good example of that would be Sony not initially supporting mp3 playback on ps4, to try and push their music unlimited service onto their customers. Come to think of it, my old ps3 still does quite a few things my friend's ps4 doesn't, despite continued promises from Sony that firmware updates will bring these features back.

Sony have always produced very high quality products, I currently own a 3d led bravia smart tv, which is brilliant in every way, and I've never had a problem with it. Love everything about it. I also have an older Sony muteki 6.1 surround system, that pumps so hard I'm afraid if I turn it all the way up it'll rattle my windows to the point they'll finally shatter lol.

I also have a ps3, as I said, but I really don't think there are any upsides to owning a console over a pc these days, except maybe cost, but even then, modern consoles are so fragile, you can expect to have to pull them apart and fix them, or pay someone else to do it, and even then they won't last forever, unlike the old consoles (like your super nintendo).

If you get a pc, you can continually update it, and guarantee you'll be able to play the very best games for over a decade on one system. If you get a console, you have maybe five years before it's so outdated that you're forced to buy another one, and the whole time, you only get half the good games, unless you're rich, then you can get every console, and a pc lol.

Just a quick question.
Is Thrustmaster not the "Official" wheel of the GT series since GT5?
GT series owned by Sony, they have now made Thrustmaster the official wheel of Sony. Money talks peeps.
No different than a beer sponsor for your favorite sports team that's plastered all over the shirt you wear.
Walking billboard and you paid for it!
Funny thing you probably buy the 🤬 beer.

Hence the talk of Sony just being greedy

...Oh, and my favourite brewer doesn't sponsor anything I've seen. Big beer companies that sponsor lots of things usually make **** beer

There is a world of differnce between a sponsorship deal and an exclusivity deal.
Yeah like Pirrelli Goodyear,Sunoco,BlackBerry etc,etc.
You buy your gas from same station?
No different. Probably use their sponsored credit card too. Shop at Costco, yeah only 1 credit card their too. Get the picture, that's why their the 1% and we are the lemmings.

Difference being, I don't have to buy the beer, I can buy and drink any beer while wearing the t-shirt. And the DFGT was the official wheel of GT5 when it launched.

Another difference being that when the DFGT was the official wheel of GT, both Fanatec and TM wheels worked with GT5, along with just about every wheel ever made.

Your didn't read what you underlined.
Google officially licensed wheel of gt5. I guess Thrustmaster and the GT series of games and Sony new something was brewing in 2011.
Hence "Officially Licensed"
No sense arguing.

Logitech pulled out of the console markets and announced it over 2 years ago. The reason stated by their CEO was due to the company's financial loss at the time. They announced they were pulling out. Is there any reason for Sony to support them after Logitech decided to drop console product support?

G series wheels wasn't supported out of the gate for GT5. That was more than 2 years ago.

I think the DFGT was the official wheel at the time. I seem to remember Sony courting Thrustmaster also at that time. I may be wrong there because my memory is fuzzy.

The DFGT was released with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue in 2007.
GT5 release gave us the T500RS in a branded GT5 box in late 2010.
GT6 release gave us the T500RS rebranded with a GT6 box in late 2013 :)

The DFGT has never officially stopped being a Gran Turismo branded wheel, but it's also over 7 years since it was launched as a counterpart to GT5p. PD has clearly been partnered with Thrustmaster for the last 5+ years!

Case in point gentlemen, today i ordered my very first gaming pc.

It's a mid level pc but good enough to be a severe 'next gen' console beater. Yes i payed a bit more money than i would for a PS4 or XBone (700 euros), but i'm not restricted anymore to Sony or MS's program on what to purchase in order to enjoy their consoles to the fullest. Like @Mike_grpA points out you can't even play MP3's on the darn things anymore.. No instead just hand over your money for their officially endorsed music program (coincidence?), and that's just one example of how they try to bend us over by selling us restrictive pieces of hardware, and take all our dough on top of it for unlocking what are essentially basic features.

I own a PS3,PS4 and PC.
My son uses PS3 as most off his friends can't afford a PS4 and that's what they have.
Most of my friends are switching to PS4.
I will try both systems PC and PS4 and see what transpires. As for no music on a PS4,your incorrect.

I just load up all my music on a memory stick and play Destiny while listening to some Sabbath.
You paid $700 Euros for a mid level PC. Thats $998.69 Canadian. Bro I could build you a smoking computer for that.

Might pick up a console in the future when they are lowered in price, but for now i'll focus on the machine i just bought as i'm sure the steam library will keep me busy enough. And not to mention all these racing sims that opened up for me too

My bad, good that they updated the PS4 to provide the functionality again. Does still seem that you can do more with a PS3 than with a 4 in general though, but i won't comment on that as i might be wrong again.

I had a German fella building it for me actually :D

What did you end up getting?
Here's what i got (thanks to @Saidur_Ali's tip): Asrock H81M-DGS , Intel Core I5 4590 Quadcore 4 x 3.3GHz to 3.7GHz , 8GB DDR3 PC1600, 1TB 7200rpm S-ATA3 and GPU= Geforce GTX960 OC. Comes with a DVDR drive but i still have to buy windows.

Congratulations and welcome to the darkside:)
Cheers

So Sony still doesn't support mp3 storage on the ps4's hdd? Instead, their idea to fix such a stupid mistake is to allow playback from external devices via usb? What if you are using two peripherals on your ps4? a wheel and the camera for instance. Since the ps4 only has two usb ports, you now can't play your game and listen to music at the same time. Wtf Sony?...

Have they added the ability to download and instal games to an external hdd? Since the games are pretty big, and only going to get way bigger, and the internal hdd is tiny. Don't even get me started on the stupid idea to "rent" old games to their customers, instead of providing real backwards compatibility. They seem to have shifted the ps4 to being more like an xbox, it's very restrictive.

Do you own a PS4?
Its called a 4 port USB hub,$10.
New HD 1TB $69

If... we don't know that, and i really doubt there is an exclusive for Thrustmaster or if others don't want to pay to sony, Fanatec said they will have PS4 compatibility with CSV2 base and a wheel with security chip inside, but we don't know nothing more for long time, since they made the announcement. We must know that there aren't to many wheel makers, Logitech quit, Mad Katz only on XOne, Thrustmaster on both, and Fanatec, but Fanatec not even pay for PS3 compatibility... they use the G25/27 driver...
I don't know if there are millions of gamers upset, i know they are a lot here and in some other places, but millions?
Most of people use DS to play.

It's business, and if a majority of company's do what we want, i bet most of them have closed.

Wow, a USB 4 port hub is $10. Now you have 5 periphials to hook up. I charge my Old PS3 headset, that works just fine, charge my controller and listen to music and still have two USB ports open.
A 1 TB HD $60

My point is you should be able to rip a cd directly to the hdd. I also hope it loads external devices a lot faster than ps3 does. My ps3 takes over an hour just to load the music on my external hdd, which is why I have a sizable amount of my music on the internal drive. If it takes even half the time to read an external drive, it will be irritating trying to play music on it, as you won't be able to just turn it on and listen to music. Of course this is only for people with a good sized music library.
