Let me start off by saying I will be getting this game day 1. I'm sure it will be great. But if I were to say these delays weren't making my hype wane, I'd be lying to you.
I'm sure it will be for the best, as a polished game is better than a rushed game, but I'm just not excited anymore. I'm sick of being disappointed with a delay every other month. At this point, I'm anticipating GT7 more.

@rambo793

Why did you change the title of this thread?

This thread was about ""Project CARS Fan Interview with Slightly Mad Team + Conversations with WMD Senior Members"" and not about the new release date.

This is just ridiculous. Sadly, I will be canceling my preorder this weekend and pick up Driveclub finally...

EDIT: let it be known that I *really* want Project CARS, but I can't support a company that can' get their stuff together. one or two delays, eh, it happens, but we went from November to March, then April, and now May.
Kind of ironic that you don't want to support a ground breaking game, first sim of this complexity on console or even pc for that matter because it's delayed, but you'll support DriveClub that was delayed almost an entire year. Now that's irony.

It is indeed a good game. Fact. It might not be the racer some people want to play (including me) but it's a quality game.

One thing comes to my mind: some people canceled their preorder. Why is that???? I think people preordered cause they were really looking forward to this game. If your not, you will not preorder but buy the game after its released some time later. Fine. But why cancel the preorder because of an delay? i just want to understand as it makes no sence to me.
Do they want to "hurt" sms? Don't get it.

To the developers/publisher preorders are the first indication of a games success. They can often times dictate how a game is treated by its marketing team. How the publisher falls on making a sequel/signing on for the potential of sequels.

To the customer they're a loose form of handshake i suppose. "I will pre purchase your product on the understanding that it will be as advertised/delivered on time" etc.

They don't want to hurt SMS. They've just hand enough of the handshake meaning nothing. And it's the only real thing they have to do about it.

horrible explanation... but it serve a purpose.

I have wanted Project Cars for a LONG time!!!
Years you could say even, because that's the actual case!
This may only be the "3rd" official delay.
However, it feels like it's the 30th delay!!!
Having read about this title for at least 4yrs as its was bounced/dropped around by devs.. back in the last gen days...
has amplified greatly this feeling.

As much as I want this game,
I too will cancel my preorder.
Wanting the game to be "complete" or its "best" is fine and all.
I mean really?! Who doesn't?!

I'm really trying to not laugh hysterically about that, as it implies ppl want games to be "incomplete" which I'd highly doubt you'd have any gamer confess too.
From a filthy casual all the way up to the most professional!

But having said all that, all the problems this title has had with its actual creation and release, warns ~me~ that I should wait.
Perhaps I'm getting cold feet having followed devs like PD or R* & others ect.
Maybe those experiences have jaded me to a degree.
But it's a relationship Im just not ready to start up again with anyone else at this time.
For me-- <-- that's important to note.
I shall wait for this title to actually be released and I can get some hands on time before I purchase it.
Coming to this conclusion or choice of action does in no way suggest a "child throwing a tantrum"
More like an educated consumer being precautious untill theres clear reason to be a full supporter!

I cancelled my pre-order because May is already stacked with 3 purchases for me. pCARS would have filled the april gap nicely, but now I will be forced to do university work or something unimportant. :P

It's one way to express frustration, take money out of someone's pocket and maybe they'll understand that you're not happy with their decisions. If Project Cars was just another game I might do the same, but I don't think it's "just another game" and regardless of the delays they have my full support.

I had asked for this game for my birthday, since it was supposed to come out about a week beforehand. Then, it was delayed until about a week after my birthday. No big deal, I could wait a few days. Now it's moved to more than a month after my birthday, I think I'll just pick this up when it's cheaper...Game looked interesting enough for me to ask for it, but not enough for me to buy at full price.

Some might think so. I preordered not because of the release date but of the quality of the product I was sure of. And to get it as fast as possible when it's released (doesn't matter when exactly)!

Alright. That makes sense.

Yeah but only works for early preorders. Everyone, like me, who preordered say from dec. 2014 will not hurt them. The game was nearly done. So it makes no difference to take out your money, IMO.

Just got DriveClub half price from the full price not bad. I need a game to fill my week off work for next week hopefully will keep me occupied.

I can understand if people are frustrated, but from the developer's point of view it's probably a case of "damned if you do and damned if you don't". If the other option was to release a game that's broken or unfinished in some aspects they would have been burned for that as well.

In the long run the hype train is better off if it arrives with a delay at the destination rather than arriving on time just outside of the destination.

Holy... It's coming: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/03/11/ps4-update-2-50-yukimura-preview-suspendresume-and-more/

Suspend and resume!!!! 24h races... Here I come! All on my own winning LeMans!

XBone tries to do something similar (though I dont think it persists through console sleep mode) Unfortunately it tends to freeze up the game randomly if it stays suspended too long. Same thing with netflix. It will stay where you stopped it for a while but eventually will either freeze and have to be restarted or will restart on its own. Hopefully for PS owners sony will do a better job of it. Of course when your only (remotely close to sim) racing title is Forza and it offer's nothing by 2-3 lap races... suspend mode really isn't necessary. Can I just go to sleep and someone wake me when Pcars finally does release? I need a REAL race fix.

You've taken me literally. What i mean is... The reoccurring delays are a direct downplay of the quality. If you hired a builder to fix up your house, paid upfront... and the guy doesn't show. Then he re-books for another day 5 months later. Then cancels again. You probably won't want to do business with the same builder again. Even if he is the best builder in the world.

Another horrible explanation again, but the point is... you've paid for something and have been left wanting. The quality of the product means nothing when the image of the product is lacking in quality. Worse so when the communication about said product is also lacking. The official website still says April 2nd. Amazon haven't emailed me to inform me of the change in date... do they know? The reason given for the delay is the same as the last. A throwaway line, that's portrayed in a way that's almost entirely promotional...

People can only take so much before they walk away.

(I would like to point out, i still have my preorder. I just understand why others don't wish to keep theirs)

I think I get your point. But aren't we charged when the games is released?! Still have the money in my bank account. It is just a reservation or somethin. A commitment to buy.

With your examples you might give real money before the work is done. But with games?!

Or am I still not getting it?! :)

True, some places only require a small deposit, Like the GAME stores here in the UK. Some place's will allow you to pay the entire bill upfront, like several of the independent stores. Some take no money until day of delivery, like Amazon.

But the sentiment still stands. You only get so many chances, especially with money and routinely tested patience involved.

And to think i rushed to get a PS4 for this game, this is getting off hands.

From november to may it's 7 months. And it's said to be basically ready. Get the thing out and roll out an update at sometime... >_>

Many people invested on hardware+wheel just for this game so it's not very polite from them to behave like this;

most PC parts in 7 months are even 100s of $ cheaper, same for wheels (that one might start to find used). Same with consoles, one might have got a better bundle later on. And they'll even may get a price drop from now to may.

:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Guess gt6 will have a lot more life in it for some extra months.

We might even see a console release of AC before this is released at this pace :D I was ready to jump on this game, now i'll wait and consider taking it second hand 🤬.

1. November to may is 6 months. ;)
2. How much did the prizes for an 4790K or a GTX970 or a Z97 MB drop in the last 6 months? At least in the Euro Zone they all got more expensive. Hardware prizes drop in the first few months after they hit the market and then they're almost constant through their whole live cycle.

is it still worth buying limited edition? what do you think?

the only think i have to say, after all these delays the game has to be absolutely perfect

After reading the last two pages I must say I can't understand some people. People always complain about the games that are far from finished (assassins creed) and now sms does everything to release a game that is almost bugfree and you keep complaining. I can understand that you are disappointed but some comments here really too much. Remember how small the dev team is compared to the big ones. Gta5 also got delayed several times and yet it is a big hit. Same goes for the pc version and the heists. And rockstar is much bigger than sms with a huge budget. Do you really think sms are happy with this decision? They are paying the development with their one money right now so every delay is a well made decision to make sure we get a great game.

i a agree but i think the depelopers should stop announcing release dates and when they do that, they should be sure for the date they are giving and ofcourse the game working as it should be

What made SMS think they could have potentially released the game back in November? It's a bit pathetic if you ask me.
