I said it will be a while, before we see a 1TB 2.5 inch HDD sold to the public. Anyway I hope Sony get this official European Price and Date out real soon for today.I don't understand how that is "modding". Woohoo, you put a 750GB HDD in an external enclosure and hooked it up to the PS3. Congratulations!

Or not.
Doesn't the 360 run some form of Windows? That is your answer.Has anyone had games crashing for the PS3? Not demos but full, finished games. I ask because out of all the 360 games I've played (and you're looking at around 30+) at least half crash (Oblivion was terrible for crashing untiul it was patched). Some of them pretty frequently (I recently got a snooker game and it crashes at least once a day - it's not even pushing the 360 like GoW does and that's not crashed once). I just wonder if PS3 games may be a little bit more reliable.
Probably not. I'm sure it's just down to how well a game's been developed. But I know that out of my current library of 20+ games for the PS2 none of them suffer from crashing. Many of the Xbox games I played seemed reliable too. But 360 games...too many. So, how are PS3 games holding up?
Resistance: Fall of Man has crashed on me 3 times during multiplayer - Don't know why.
The nicest thing about consoles is that you don't HAVE to buy new chips & drives & memory & motherboards. All the games will be played on exactly the same hardware. Same hardware = much easier to beta test & debug.
Right, but it should come in near-perfect condition and debugged before it ever hits store shelves, because I do not have the ability to change things for the better. I don't think I should have that ability because of what you said above, but that puts the responsibility on the hardware and software manufacturers to make it work properly, not need to be upgraded and patched. The nicest thing about consoles is that you don't HAVE to buy new chips & drives & memory & motherboards. Your post is in reference to a statement that I made two days ago. I just got through downloading Firmware Update 1.5 through a wireless connection from about 40 feet and through several walls, and it worked perfectly! Some folk on here had complained in the last day or so that the network was down for a while, and it seems to me that Sony used this downtime to make significant improvements to the system.Does this mean you can only do network things on the ps3 when you hardwire it, such as the firmware and demos ?As wireless is really my only choice 👎
Im Dl'ing the 1.5 update as I type this. Not sure what ill notice thought
:::::::::::::::::
I got my plantronics 320 bluetooth headset. Waiting for it to charge and the update to finish to see how its gong to work
Yay! I'll send you a PM for some tips soon. The hard disks on my PC failed last night and now my PS3 has become my main device. For the most part, I can do everything I would have done on my now dead PC. Adding a wireless keyboard makes it so much easier.
I think a couple of Mac Minis and dual boot Windows Vista are in order for myself
Yeah, they are. If they weren't you'd see Ken Kutaragi and the words "The PS3 will run at 120fps in the 4D!"Well, there you go then.. hehe. I stand corrected. Probably just older pictures (they're from before launch, I kept them because they're stupid-high-res, they probably changed it after the pics were taken.. hell, for all I know, they might be CGI.. they have that look about 'em).
It does. Thank god. My 8-year-old PS1 demo disc looks better.Apparently this firmware update fixes compatibility problems with old PSone and PS2 games, and no more jaggies on them anymore.

I'm thinking it's your 360. On my first 360, many more games froze, but now, with my second 360, only Need for Speed games (go figure )freeze up occasionally.Has anyone had games crashing for the PS3? Not demos but full, finished games. It's not that. When it overheats the lights in the ring of light flash red in random quadrants. It's because the 360 was overheating may be?

Firmware v1.5 fixes problems with PS2 games when viewed on HDTV's via component and HDMI, very sweet indeed!
Looks real good, but where's Rainbow Six?Instead of carving this up into a news story, we thought Three Speech regulars would rather get to see the press release verbatim:
STRICTLY EMBARGOED UNTIL MIDNIGHT WEDNESDAY 24th JANUARY GMT
PS3 to Launch in UK on 23rd March 2007
Over 30 Titles for Launch Period
1 Million units forecast for Initial European Launch Period
London, 24 January 2007 – Sony Computer Entertainment Europe today announced that PLAYSTATION®3 will be launched in the PAL territories including the United Kingdom on 23rd March 2007 at a price of £425.
Responding to retail and consumer demand, SCEE confirmed that initially only the 60GB model would be available, with the 20GB model to follow later in the year dependent on demand.
An expected one million PS3 units will be made available during the initial launch period to all SCEE territories.
SCEE also announced a stellar launch line-up of over 30 game titles for PS3, including eagerly awaited titles published by SCEE such as Resistance: Fall of Man™, MotorStorm™, Genji™: Days of the Blade, FORMULA ONE CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION and Ridge Racer™ 7. An exceptional range of titles in every genre will also be available at launch from the world’s leading third party publishers, including Electronic Arts, Activision, Namco Bandai, Sega, Take 2, Ubisoft, Vivendi Universal, and Sony Online Entertainment.
In addition to games on disc, an exciting range of fully-featured downloadable games
will debut on the PLAYSTATION®Network. These will include gaming icons such as Tekken®: Dark Resurrection and Gran Turismo® HD Concept; the fully-featured PS3 debut of the best-selling franchise Gran Turismo, realised with full HD (1080p) visual quality. Created by Polyphony Digital Inc and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, Gran Turismo® HD Concept has been downloaded by more than 350,000 users since it was released in December 2006 in North America and Japan.
Also available on the PLAYSTATION®Network will be brainteasers such as Go! Sudoku and Go! Puzzle, and innovative games such as Blast Factor™ and flOw™, designed exclusively for PLAYSTATION 3 and delivering on the promise to provide original content created by non-traditional developers and publishers.
Concurrent with the European launch, a new System Update to further enhance the entertainment potential of PS3 will be issued.
Announcing the launch details, Ray Maguire, SVP and MD of SCEUK said, “Following the hugely successful launches of PS3 in Japan and North America, we are absolutely delighted to be able to bring significant numbers of PS3 to the UK. To be able to launch with over 30 titles including retail versions and great downloadable gaming experiences across every genre shows that this is our strongest launch line-up in the history of PlayStation, and is what PlayStation fans in the UK have been crying out for.”

It is sort of like the chicken and the egg paradox. At least the US and Japanese market got to have it early and play some games and movies on it, and it isn't like they are getting games before the US market.Just like the PSP launch the PS3's Euro titles are much better than the U.S. Thats a good reason the system may sell more over there than in the U.S. They dont have to sit on one game to get that next great game fix. They get so many titles off the bat.

Well, there's the GTHD demo for simulators... Motorstorm and F1, maybe RR7 are good racers... and Sudoku is about as good as you get for puzzle games. What I really like are simulator games, and driving and flying games. I also really like puzzle games...
Well, Resistance has great online, though it's an FPS. Motorstorm should also have good online, and Burnout 5 whenever it comes out.I'd really like to start experimenting with online gaming, so games that have good online suport would be a big bonus.
Colin McRae comes out in June (with the most photorealistic graphics EVER).I'd really like to get some good Rally racing games!
Ace Combat + Next-Gen Power + Sixaxis = goodness. And for the love of god, rent Blazing Angels.I know the reviews have not been great for Blazing Angels Squadrons of WWll, but I am still tempted only because it seems like the only flying game currently available. When ever a PS3 Ace Combat game comes out I'll be ALLLLLL over that!
Judging from other EA Sports titles, probably crappy. How is the online play for that game?
I'm pretty sure that Sony is poised for success now. We'll see what the world wide sales numbers look like in May...I'm going to guess Sony has an installed user base of around 4.5 Million by May, at a minimum.
If they ship and sell a million then they'll have a 2.55 million install base, plus how ever many they sell in the US and Japan from now until May.I'm pretty sure that Sony is poised for success now. Nintendo Wii sales rates are truly impressive!
I may be the only person on earth that doesn't get giddy over Sudoku puzzles. The kind of puzzles I most enjoy are problem solving engineering type... which is why I enjoyed the Myst games so much. 👍Sudoku is about as good as you get for puzzle games.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll be picking this up as soon as it comes out!Colin McRae comes out in June (with the most photorealistic graphics EVER).
I know, I know... but it may be a long time before any other flying ga,e is available... I'll try and resist for a little more longer.Ace Combat + Next-Gen Power + Sixaxis = goodness. And for the love of god, rent Blazing Angels.
EA really does seem like they lower the bar rather than raise it, or is that being unfair? It just seems like they spend more time and money on buying exclusive rights to sports titles then they do on development. Thus, with little competition, they aren't exactly motivated to push the envelope on creating better games.Judging from other EA Sports titles, probably crappy.
No problem.Duck, thanks for all the recommendations!

I much preffered Visual Concepts' NFL 2K series as well.Well, you're spot on. NBA 2K7 absolutely plays much better than any of the Live games, Madden 07 only features a new gimmicky feature and updated rosters, etc.
