PS3 General Discussion

I was playing .mp4 files recorded from my phone last night on my PS3. I don't think there should be a problem.

The problem is most likely in the audio. The PS3 needs specific bitrates etc in order to play right, it's a little bug, annoying, but hopefully fixed soon.

Head to Red Kawa to find more details by reading the PS3 Video 9 forums, it's discussed in depth there, just see if you have the option to change your audio options when you rip and it should work fine :)

I don't think it's even that, it just says "Unsupported file". :indiff:

I would use PS3 Video 9 in a heartbeat, but I can't (resident Macintard here). I could try to see if Crossover Mac would work with it, or I could take the plunge and buy an $80 OEM XP and Boot Camp it...

Or for that price, I could buy that HDD.

Bah!

Well, guys, My HDMI cable crapped out on me.

DO NOT buy the GE HDMI cables at target. The jack is just glued onto the plug body. I think my ps3 melted the glue (or the glue just SUCKS), because I went to pull the cable out and the jack stayed in while the plug body and pins ripped out. What a POS.

That's poor. How much was it? I got a fairly decent HDMI lead free when I bought an upscaling DVD player over a year ago.
Can you get your money back?

So much for "all HDMI cables are the same". ;)

I got my HDMI cable from Radio Shack. While overpriced, because I needed it quickly, it seems fine in the quality department.

It was the cheapest I could find in the area, priced at 40 bucks. :yuck:

What a rip.

You didn't know about that, Omnis? :)

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the price you posted.. I just placed an order through Monoprice for an HDMI cable, an HDMI>DVI cable (so I can use whichever works better on PS3), both of them six-foot. I also ordered two three-foot optical cables, along with an optical switcher (since both my 360 and PS3 use optical, but my receiver has only one optical input). AND I also ordered a longer USB cable for charging my controller while I play. Total cost of ALL of that, including shipping, was less than forty bucks. :)

Online is definitely the way to go for cabling.

I've heard that Blue Jeans Cable is also good (http://www.bluejeanscable.com), but I've never used them myself.

Guys, Do you notice any different in picture quality in the same resolution after switching from component to HDMI>DVI cable?

I haven't used component, but I do use a DVI to HDMI (opposite of what you've got) for my PC. Its completely clear. It should look fine as long as the DVI part is dual link I think.

Yes, HDMI/DVI is a completely digital with no degradation of the signal while component is analog. HDMI is the highest quality signal you will receive from your PS3.

So, I just got home from getting full auto 2 at target.

It owns

I still dont have RFOM yet...

:indiff: From what I've heard, it's not even a true sequel to the first Full Auto. And the first one sucked, especially compared to Burnout. I would've saved up the $60 for, say, Motorstorm.

Full Auto 2is a tough gem to get into, the early missions make you want to toss the disc in the trash. later missions and better cars make it a little more interesting. Its sealed in the gamefly envelope and ready to be sent back.

My cousin rented Full auto 2, and we didn't like it at all, It was a waste of $10 to be honest:sly: .

btw, thanks for reply on my component > DVI/HDMI cable question:tup:

These 1UP guys would rather jiz over their Wii60s than to ask a fair, unloaded question. Jaffe held himself well and took it back to them.

good interview, personally, i really think that Jaffe knows what he is talking about, and i agree with most of his opinions.

For those who have watched it, realize that Jaffe owns up 1up pretty significantly. They try to jump his bones on more than one occasion, and he displays superior intellect nearly every time. They try to back him into a corner, and he makes Luke feel foolish each time...and I love it.

Can anyone log into PSN? I keep getting an error message but, my connection is fine. I was using the browser just a minute ago.

Oh, the piss yellow XMB is great. I got the same feeling when my PSP turned pink.
