Formula 1: Championship Edition Review:

Not a great score...but I think he scored it low based on taste rather than the technical merits of the game.
I havn't played it other than the demo, but come on Duck... you should know that taking an average from only two reviews is nearly meaningless. Instead of saying "even though", you should have said "although". In other words, to say that it cant be a good sign based on only two reviews is absurd at best.Duċk;2583828Well, you can't give a polished turd an excellent score. Heck, there's like a 45% review average on GameRankings (even though there's only 2 reviews so far), and that can't be a good sign.
It does'nt bother me personally.
Personally, I seriously doubt that will ever happen. If anything Sony will likely be making subtle improvements to the PS3 over time just as they did with the PS2.YET.
Chances are, since this is a cost-cutting measure, that same BC limitation will make its way into US and Japanese PS3s shortly after the European launch.
You're fine if you already own a PS3. But if you're going to be getting one "eventually" or if your current system craps out and has to be replaced, you might end up somewhat screwed.
Duċk;2584370Sheesh, you all act like most of your games won't work and the sky is falling. $10 says there's going to be 200 games that won't work normally like on US systems, and 98% of those games will be dippy oddball Japanese games.
Not to mention that since they're going with the emulation route, you guys will probably get your BC games in 720p/1080i with a good amount of anti-aliasing.
.........for double the price!
its still annoying that you pay double for something
Time to get a new calculator.
.........for double the price!
But even still, that's not close to double. No, I am merely highlighting that it is unfair for the UK to pay such a high price. As for the double the price bit I was talking about it being compared to the Japaniese price of 95,980 yen which is £252 pounds... so that is about double. I know importing it and adding tax all would probably not make it viable but I am not suggesting importing, I am just saying its unfair as it is to ask such a high price, and then to remove features adds insult!

Really? Then someone hijacked your GTP account:I know importing it and adding tax all would probably not make it viable but I am not suggesting importing
This is why I am buying my PS3 abroad were it does play most of the old games and im just hoping the region free stuff they said was right!
Well, he could be making a trip to Japan or the US to buy one... or have a friend to do it for him...Really? Then someone hijacked your GTP account:
That's importing... unless he plans on also keeping it in the same region it was bought in.Duċk;2584694Well, he could be making a trip to Japan or the US to buy one... or have a friend to do it for him...
Ah. Then it looks like he is contradicting himself...That's importing... unless he plans on also keeping it in the same region it was bought in.
linkWith the onslaught of websites like this (no offense, me!), people have grown more and more impatient with things like release dates, prices, promise fulfillment, hype, flaming, along with numerous other things. The other day, we posted about the European PS3's getting a hardware "downgrade", meaning that there's simply less hardware and more software-involved computing. If you scroll down the comments, it's kind of funny how it starts out at "less backwards compatibility for a short while? Oh no!" and near the end people are saying "why did PS3 scrap backwards compatibility completely? We're screwed!" This is not the case.
1UP took the time to get in touch with some of Sony's henchmen and do a bit of the complaining for the web-surfing crowd. Why the lack of certain bits of hardware? Simple: "This move is a part of our cost saving measures, similar to the wide variety of cost saving measures we have applied with both the original PlayStation and with PS2. In time this leads to a reduction in the cost of manufacture and over time allows us to reduce the cost of the PS3 to consumers." Sony is doing all they can to stop selling at a loss so they can instigate a price drop. Already. Because the internet spreads pricing complaints faster than a wildfire in a rainforest.
What isn't talked about much is that the backwards compatibility issue is very temporary. Most of your PS-One titles are going to work. Recent PS2 titles will work. Older PS2 titles will be added through software updates in a matter of months. It's temporary, guys. Very temporary and not a big deal. Unless, of course, you'd rather not see a price drop for over a year...

That's still importing, only instead of paying for a company to ship it, you'll be doing it yourself. Importing is the action of bringing a good, service, or capital from one country to another. So yes, you did contradict yourself... without anyone needing to make any assumptions.I will pick one up and bring it back

Also, last time I checked, PS3's are not duty free... and of course depending on the region you'll also have to pay a sales tax as well.
I'm not suggesting that importing is a bad idea, as I have occasionally imported electronics from retailers and manufacturers outside the US. My point is that the PS3 in the UK is not selling for twice as much as any place else (which is what you said twice already), and after all the extra cost and inconvenience of buying it in the US or Japan and importing it back to the UK, any cost savings will be trimmed further.
