Since I just started my second character on GTA I don't mind sticking to Esteban or creating a new RP character, since I have some ideas for a new character anyway.

I'm going to make my character again as someone gave me 10 Billion... And I'm not going to level him up or do any missions as I want all his money earned to be his. But I am keeping same name and background story..

I'm up for making a new character. I think this needs what I said before - characters need to already know each other because it's a lot harder to just stumble upon one another in the huge expanse of San Andreas. Maybe we can form some gangs for the criminal characters? As for the characters who aren't so mischievous, how about they all live in the same neighbourhood? Just a thought.

This would be a great idea. I'm sure having the characters meet in the GTA IV RP worked well because Liberty City was so small compared to Los Santos. Now, we're actually in Los Santos and it's not really going to work. Also, I like the idea of the criminal characters joining a gang but I really like where David's story is going. So, can we do like, a time skip or something so we can have both old and new characters joined up?

The main thing that made IV's RP work was the fact that three of us worked at the same shop in South Bohan, as well as a decent amount of characters who were interested in buying drugs. I've been trying to think of a new character, but I'm torn as to what general background to come from (white collar, blue collar, teen, adult, etc).

As interesting as it sounds, I still feel that my current characters can still develop further - Kenton has not yet revealed his secrets and his rivalry with Esteban can easily continue for a long time. On the other hand, Kane has yet to find a resolve for his troubles.

Maybe it is ideal for those who are struggling to find ideas for their characters though.
I guess you can continue to use both of your characters, but I love the idea of having a clean slate for everyone. just my opinion.

My character is merely a reflection of my online "career" so unless you have a time machine I can't really change anything.
I'm not sure what you mean.

The idea does sound interesting but I also think that my character can develop further. Dario getting dragged into David's debt situation to save him from potential thugs could get very interesting, plus he hasn't revealed his past to anyone yet.
Just like I said to GTDriver - I love the idea of having a clean slate for everyone. just my opinion. And actually, it seems to be the winning vote so far.

I'm not sure what you mean either. Are you saying someone gave you 10 billion in game, then since you don't want it you're going to make a new character slot?

Declined. You have a huge lack of detail in your character and you forgot a vital part of your application that is stated in the original post.

@Pinkintron I mean that my character is essentially an online version of me, minus all of the racing achievements. I can be interactive with my character, it won't be scripted though.

Well **** :( .
Agree with the lack of detail, but the vital part of my application ? What his last name? Can you just tell me what that part was cause I don't really see it.

Huh. Okay. I'm just not very good at making characters or whatever. It's just that i've only hit the interesting part of David's story and it would kinda be strange for the people David has dragged into his situation. I suppose i'll give it a shot if the people tied in with David's story go along with it. Also, since you're not given the option to change your character's appearance, will we make a new one?

I'm down for a clean slate. Would he nice to see all the character developments start again, also bring interesting to see of things pan out in a similar manner to before.

I'm down for making a new character. And @Pinkintron, when you were talking about why attendance is so low, I would guess people are busy with family or something during the holidays. If I had time to play, I'd have a choice between GT6, GTA V, NHL 14, and BF4. There has been a lot of new games recently. I'll try to join the next event, but I'm really busy at the moment.

This is an idea. Make up like 3 gangs, each Gang have roughly 4-6 people. And you can pick one of the characters from any gang. And you are assigned to them. Their back story is already pre made but it's up to you to decide what happens in their future.

I know every one won't be assigned but that leaves more options to the member. And if your player dies you can choose another.

Also there can be like 2 or 3 people not assigned to a gang and it's up to them to meet up with the gang and choose or just be two faced and secretly be in two or just an instigator.

I have a lot more ideas to this and have it all planned out but I want to see if anyone else has the same interest as me.

I like the idea but I also like being able to create and develop my character. Not only does this method add a massive workload to Pink bit takes away our 'individuality'. I cannot find fault with the 3 gang idea, I think it would be perfect. I just think it should be upto us to create a way for the ccharacter to join the gang, reasons for him/her joining etc.

My phone is really annoying me at the moment, sorry for being stupid. My response to Michrulejj is in the second paragraph in my reply.

My opinion, I like the gang idea. It would be really cool to see gang wars and all that cool stuff. I don't really like the pre-made character idea, though. I think the reason roleplaying is so good because you play as a character YOU created, not some company. Choosing a pre-made character kind of restricts some of the things you can do with a character you make yourself. For instance, my character, David, got into a crap ton of debt in Liberty City. Now, I chose to get into debt in Los Santos because it fit so well with David's backstory. I order for a unique situation for that to happen again, i'd just have to hope that the character I pick has a good backstory instead of assuring he has a good backstory by creating one myself. But, as I said, just my opinion.

That's probably an even better idea. Players create their own but have a structured gang system thats ran by this group. It will make it more organized and people have a sense of direction.
Yes! Now, this is a good idea because it gives us the freedom of creating our own characters and helps us get to know other characters without the trouble of randomly coming across them in the massive city of Los Santos.

Try reading the rules again. ;)

As for the gang system - I think that's a great idea. Perhaps one or two members could create gangs and be the leaders of them, and have a hierarchy system? Of course, not every member has to be a criminal and can go about their daily routines. Also, some of you have probably already found it, but today I stumbled across a university in Richman, which could be a good place for some role play and a good chance for other characters to meet.

Yeah, so i've finished the tutorial missions with my new character. Now all I need to do is come up with a bio and i'm done. Also, are we going to have our new characters start in a gang or wil we RP joining one?

I kind of just figured to leave the characters how they look, and just use the same avatar - but a different back story and name and whatever else. I don't want to make everyone to create an entirely new male/female in game, but just change the back story on the one they have been using to start off with a clean slate.

Interesting - not a bad application at all! Accepted! You'll be able to join lobbies when there is room in the club. It's at a cap at 20/20 members, because of the limitations of room in lobbies and chat rooms.

No problem Beav, I know you're fairly active in the RP even if you don't join events - in other words, you give your two cents. You're good :)

By new character do we mean "new backstory"? Or "make a new GTA V character"?

Also, I like Katiegan's idea of making the characters relate to each other, as it would make interaction much more easier and fluid.
I mean a new backstory. Again, I do not want to make everyone make a new GTA V character - that might be asking a lot or not, I don't know. It seems like a lot of work for me, and since I have my own character and my brother has his, I can't really make another one, so I'm going to stick with the one I've been using.

And yes, I think Katie's idea is the best scenario. Characters can be in said gang or club or w/e - if some people don't want to be, they can RP their character knowing someone close to them who's in the club or maybe make the club do something to a character that makes them interested or hate said club.

I like the idea but I also like being able to create and develop my character. Not only does this method add a massive workload to Pink bit takes away our 'individuality'. I think that's a fantastic idea. Like I said earlier, for people who aren't in the gang can be instigators or victims of said gang to open up the RP for them as well.

I'd say just starting in one would be the best bet. To be lazy, I think starting one up from raw RP would be a bit too complicated and might make people back out of the idea because of the "work" of making a new gang. Best if we though of something here in the thread, sort of like a back story/history lesson to the gang, and then just play the role from that. I'm thinking like GTA: San Andreas' plot line almost. It's pretty much your character joining up with a gang that has been deep with roots for years and the characters get twisted and sucked into it.

Hello. Im new and would like to join! Its sounds fun. U guys still accepting
Yes we are, but you will not be accepted into lobbies until you are one of the 20 members that can. It's at a cap at 20/20 members, because of the limitations of room in lobbies and chat rooms.

Oh... Ah, well. I've made the new character anyway. I didn't really mind.

Small Edit:
In Character (IC)

Name:
Liam O'Reilly

Age: 32

Job/Career/Money Source: Leader of the B.O.C (Brotherhood of Corruption)

Bio: Liam grew up in Ireland without any siblings. His parents fought on a regular basis. His father was in the police force, leading him to be shot in a gunfight when Liam was 14. When he was 21, he moved to Los Santos with his best friend. He became a taxi driver, but it never worked out. As for his best friend, David went off the radar, never seeing him again. He gave street racing a shot after quitting his old job, since his old friends kept egging him on to try it out when he was young. So, Liam did give it a shot. While he didn't come first, he certainly liked it. So, he joined more races, becoming better as he went on. He went on to win loads of money. Enough to set him up in Los Santos.

After a while, one of the other racers told him about a 'job' that needed doing, and said that his driving skills would be perfect for the job. He was also told that the pay was good. Liam, of course, accepted. This wasn't a legal job, though. This was a robbery. Liam was against this idea, but acted as a getaway driver anyway, as jail was his only alternative since he only found out it was a robbery right before he heard the sirens. Surely enough, Liam evaded the cops and was given his cut. He was told he'd be called up again if he was needed. That never happened, as the criminal he drove away was arrested. Liam, however, was able to cover up his tracks. He knew it was wrong, but the pay, to his surprise, was actually quite good, so he didn't mind doing that sort of work. He also had no problem doing jobs that didn't involve driving as he spent a fair bit of time down at the shooting range and became quite accurate.

One day, when looking for jobs, he looked for the more high-paying sort of work. As in, he completely disregarded any sort of street-gang activity and went for the more 'classy' side of illegal activity. This lead to him to meet up with his old college friend, Dan Smith, who both had the same buisiness ideas, and started up the Brotherhood of Corruption. They also spotted another potential crew member, Fraser Stewart. Fraser Stewart was a criminal who had been hiding from the cops. Liam was able to contact him, and give him a place to stay.

3 months later, Liam contacted Fraser, and told him about the Brotherhood of Corruption. He told him he wanted to meet up with him. When Fraser got there, Liam told him about a job that needed doing, and the only way for Fraser to join, was to drive a specific route with a hot load whilst avoiding any police attention and get back to the meeting spot as quickly as possible. When Fraser passed this test with ease, Liam was genuinly surprised. He let Fraser join Liam and Dan in leading the group.

Personality: Liam is usually friendly, although he can be easily angered. He also overreacts quite a lot, but he can be a joy to be around once you get to know him. There is no middle for him, though. If you're his friend, he'll look out for you. If you're his enemy, he'll do whatever he can to make your life a misery.

Hmm. I'm guessing at this rate most people will have a new character. If this is the case, carrying on with both Kenton and Kane's stories will be tricky as some (if not most) of the relations will be gone, especially if Esteban won't be used anymore to rival Kenton.

I've got several choices:

  1. Keep the two characters but "restart" the story. Many things I had planned hadn't quite materialised but there will be minor revisions (taking account of the changes) to freshen the characters up. I also enjoy RPing as Kenton too much
  2. Carry on with the two character's stories and see how it pans out, at the expense of some lost relations from before
  3. Kill off one or both characters and start a new character. However, the stories of each character aren't at the point of being killed off yet plus it might take a while for me to think up of a new character that is completely different.
  4. Completely start with new characters without finishing the stories of the existing characters.
However, this new idea with the gangs will be useful to me. Should I retain my two characters, I can revise Kane's beginning: Kane was forced into the criminal world on arrival but that didn't actually happen in the RP, only the "events" before. I can also do something for Kenton too.
