Not sure why you'd think that, must be your connection having compatibility issues with mine for some reason. I've been playing GT5 online since the game came out, and I have disconnected from rooms twice. My connection is solid. :)

Sorry to see you go.

Suppose it depends on if we're running with a safety car. Race control could tell everyone to swap for extreme-wets if the conditions get dangerous. (> 75% surface water)

I'm still for SS tires only, I would hate to lose a top 5 because I didn't short pit too wet tires soon enough.

Who's your ISP? Upload and download Speeds?

Weather is the great equalizer, do racecars only qualify in the dry? No they do not... I realize I'm in the minority opinion here, but I think qualifying in the wet is a decent idea. I definatly understand the counter-arguement as well.

Ping 25 ms down load speed 13.93 upload 3.69. I am not trying to point fingers and say that your connection is junk.I believe just compatibility issue. It is what it is.

I'm all for this qualifying method and think it's a really interesting way of spicing up what should've been a relatively boring race and qualifying.

As long as the room settings are all done right then we should all be at even no matter what time anyone decides to qualify on.

I'm putting a room up to test out the given settings and ****:

settings:

50% / Change = 0 / Surface water = 30%

Practicing on Sport Softs AND Rain tires.

Hmm, well after re-setting the weather a bunch of times it's only actually raining like 1 out of 5 times. Otherwise it's just overcast and starts drying after only a minute, steadily going down through the 20s. When it is raining, though, it starts increasing by one percent about every 15 or 20 seconds.

Tboat - you are only beating me by 8 points. I'm putting some extra practice next 3 weeks. Be ready dude...no time to relax. It's definitely on..👍

Well I got it to rain again, (had better luck switching tracks then back to Monza) and now it's just holding steady at 30%.

For qualifying should we just reset the track until it's visibly raining and go for it or?

Is it possible to have everyone qualify at the same %? I do better in the rain. Better than what I'm not sure.

Now after 15 minutes (same session I talked about in my above post) it's not down to 24% and still raining lightly.

Trying another reset.

But yeah, I was thinking we should make it so we need to qualify within a certain window of surface water. Like 30 to 40%?

That's the spirit!

I'm thinking about doing what Dr_Watson was talking about earlier and setting weather and change to 0%, then manually making the surface water 30%. It'll be sunny for everyone, but the track surface will be the same for everyone.

Now we tried a race after another reset, same values, but it started immediately shooting up by one percent like every 30 seconds. By the end of our race of 4 laps we were at 75%.

I've had an issue one time with friends less then 1/2 mile away. Was able to see one guy and other not. Those two were playing in the same house and had played with them prior and no issues. I reset and still had the issue. Before they raced again the next night. I had them reset and everything was fine and always has been since.

All three of us in Comcast pulling 15+ down and 3+ up. Excellent ping ratings with a reasonable distance.

It's GT5 no doubts here.

After the water gets to over 60-70% it's time to switch to Racing Rain tires.

We did a race at 100% water and it was manageable but really hectic. The draft made things pretty scary and going side by side with the rain makes it a lot easier to send people flying off the track during tight corners of course. But yeah, that's all obvious xD.

Best lap I did in that last race was a 2:11.9xx and that's with full Racing wets.

Best lap we hit where it was drying down was a 2:03 flat at around 24% water on Sports Softs.

Gotta run to work now, cheers.

Edit:
Before I left the practice room Nige mentioned a good idea about running qualifying on racing rain tires at 100% surface water. Then every one will be on exactly the same level for sure.

Honestly, we should run the race that way as well. At the least, we can adequately practice in those conditions so we can minimize trouble. Otherwise, most of the race will be under the safety car.

FYI, at 100% surface water, 2:09.3 so far.

I'd say yeah, just remind everyone about qualifying on Racing Rain tires aka/ full wets. 'cause I have a feeling some aren't going to catch it, try to qualify on SS's, and become quite upset.

Fyi, at 100% surface water, 2:09.3 so far.

lmao

if we qualify in wet, it needs to be 100% settings so no variables from person to person.

Personally doing qualify in the non weather version is what we did in pure jgts or so i am thinking.

Sounds like the saftey car is going to have a busy weekend :P, Should be good fun, I'll need to start practicing in the rain but :scared: as I'm no jenson Button in the rain. Think I've crashed in everyrace and I have a feeling that may continue :dopey:, also using GTP_GREEN now turbo still can't find my backup savedata :(.

That's another thing we need to make a decision for. I will not be home on Saturday, so I still need someone to host. I'm giving you guys the option of running with limited damage and no safety cars, but if you want someone to do my job then you'll need to take their decisions seriously.

I got the bandwidth, the time, and I can put up with all the inevitable whining. Whether people will take me seriously, I can't control that.
