I got the bandwidth, the time, and I can put up with all the inevitable whining. Whether people will take me seriously, I can't control that.
Works for me. 👍

So of I'm reading this correctly the rain is going to be 100%, 100% of the time?? Is this for when we qualify and race?? I don't have a problem with it while qualifying, but the race should at least have some variables, no?

Tires in Quali are Racing/Rain have we decided how the race will work for tires?
If you are comfortable with your connection now, then I'll put you down as host.
Make it open selection, but force SS at the start and people can pit for Rain tires if they choose to after the start?
Like I mentioned before, I'd much rather start the race in the same conditions as qualifying, or at least wet enough that we'll be starting on rain tires. However, we can still have it variable so it could dry out.Make it open selection, but force SS at the start and people can pit for Rain tires if they choose to after the start?
I've had zero issues in hosting rooms since my latest tweaks to my setup, but it's nice to have a backup host just in case.If not, I can host and Rich can steward.
Sounds ok to me. Race control just needs to go down the list to verify that everyone is starting on SS. 👍
(Or just change the tire spec, IIRC if you go "up" in tire compound prohibition it won't boot anyone, only if the race started with RS and then was moved down to make cars illegal)

Good idea. Set it to Sport Soft, then once everyone is on track and headed for the grid, the host can change the tire regulations to unlimited so everyone can switch to Rain tires if needed.

Dr_WatsonShould probably change it up-one to RH that way we get access to RR but not RS. Don't want to tempt someone to put on the gumballs if it starts to dry out.
I'm exactly the opposite.
Most of the fun of weather is the unpredictability. I'm only anal about the qualifying conditions because we have this unrealistic qualifying so everyone can "fit-it-in".
The weather report also doesn't call for a 100% surface water monsoon. I think what RT suggested should work out well. We start on a damp track which may get wetter or may get dryer. 30% is actually the perfect starting point since that's when dry tires start to give way to intermediates. So starting on the SS should be perfect up to about 65-75% where the inters give way to the water-pump racing rain tires.
You got it. Hopefully, I can get some people together and practice as race director during the week. Then you're it. I'd much rather you host since you don't have to worry about racing.
Guess my beef is that I have a much different setup for rain than what I would normally use for drier conditions. Then again, that's part of the unpredictability factor, so you probably love that too.I'm exactly the opposite.

Doesn't matter, though. I'm coming into this race expecting it to be my dropped one. Bring on the carnage!

You also obsess about car setup and race preparation more than anyone else I've met. (though Travis is pretty close)
But, rain plays to my strong points (anything over 85%)
Edit: Everyone is free to start qualifying on Rain tires, 100% surface water, 0% weather and 0 change.
It will be sunny and 100% wet track.
Maybe a MAX lap time on the out lap. To prevent 10 minute warm up laps as track dries. LoL
75% by the end of the second flier, and that's if I don't dawdle getting on track or on my first flier. Matched my PB too, without any difficulty at all. Yeah, can't say I'm liking this idea of wet track + sunny. 👎The track will hardly dry within 3 laps.
Does how quickly it drys out really matter much? Can't we all just go out and do it without playing "games"?
At this point I trust everyone to not be a tool. And seriously if that .3 makes someone's day that much better they can have it and I'll just pass them in the race.
It's qualifying at Monza where nothing is on the line but 1 measly bonus point. Let's just all be big boys and get it done.
