I got the bandwidth, the time, and I can put up with all the inevitable whining. Whether people will take me seriously, I can't control that.

Sounds good. Just be ready with a backup keyboard if it breaks after typing "SAFTY CAR" to many times

So of I'm reading this correctly the rain is going to be 100%, 100% of the time?? Is this for when we qualify and race?? I don't have a problem with it while qualifying, but the race should at least have some variables, no?

I think Qualifying will be 100% surface water. Races will be variable.

Qualifying will be 100% surface 0 rain 0 change. That way it's the same for everyone.

RT said the race would be 30% surface, 50% rain, 0 change

So we will have predictably wet qualifying and a probable rain storm starting on a damp track.

Tires in Quali are Racing/Rain have we decided how the race will work for tires?

If you are comfortable with your connection now, then I'll put you down as host.

Make it open selection, but force SS at the start and people can pit for Rain tires if they choose to after the start?

Edit: Everyone is free to start qualifying on Rain tires, 100% surface water, 0% weather and 0 change.

If not, I can host and Rich can steward.

Sounds ok to me. Race control just needs to go down the list to verify that everyone is starting on SS. 👍
(Or just change the tire spec, IIRC if you go "up" in tire compound prohibition it won't boot anyone, only if the race started with RS and then was moved down to make cars illegal)

Room up guys

1472 - 6118 - 3830 - 2744 - 1461

Would love it if a few guys can join. Really wouldn't mind seeing how drafting and overtaking is going to feel here in the worst of conditions.

Like I mentioned before, I'd much rather start the race in the same conditions as qualifying, or at least wet enough that we'll be starting on rain tires. However, we can still have it variable so it could dry out.

I've had zero issues in hosting rooms since my latest tweaks to my setup, but it's nice to have a backup host just in case. :)

Good idea. Set it to Sport Soft, then once everyone is on track and headed for the grid, the host can change the tire regulations to unlimited so everyone can switch to Rain tires if needed.

Then you're it. I'd much rather you host since you don't have to worry about racing.

Anyway, you guys can start qualifying whenever. I'll have the race info sheet up tonight or tomorrow morning.

Should probably change it up-one to RH that way we get access to RR but not RS. Don't want to tempt someone to put on the gumballs if it starts to dry out.

I'm exactly the opposite.
Most of the fun of weather is the unpredictability. I'm only anal about the qualifying conditions because we have this unrealistic qualifying so everyone can "fit-it-in".

The weather report also doesn't call for a 100% surface water monsoon. I think what RT suggested should work out well. We start on a damp track which may get wetter or may get dryer. 30% is actually the perfect starting point since that's when dry tires start to give way to intermediates. So starting on the SS should be perfect up to about 65-75% where the inters give way to the water-pump racing rain tires.

This guy is reading my mind. ;)

You got it. Hopefully, I can get some people together and practice as race director during the week.

Guess my beef is that I have a much different setup for rain than what I would normally use for drier conditions. Then again, that's part of the unpredictability factor, so you probably love that too.

Doesn't matter, though. I'm coming into this race expecting it to be my dropped one. Bring on the carnage!

You also obsess about car setup and race preparation more than anyone else I've met. :sly: (though Travis is pretty close)

Rich should see if someone is on the wrong tires. Obviously everyone will be on SS at the start, he would just have to check everyone's tires with ~2 laps to go. (assuming it's dry, who would want slicks on a wet track?)

I find speed in preparation :sly:
Sad really, I would think all my practice time would have net me more top 4s. Not having good on track luck this time around.

But, rain plays to my strong points (anything over 85%)

Edit: Everyone is free to start qualifying on Rain tires, 100% surface water, 0% weather and 0 change.

Does this mean that the track will be 100% wet at the start, but not actually raining anymore? Or, it will be 100% wet at the start and still raining 'cats 'n' dogs'? Or, it could start to dry out for some and continue to rain for others?

Sorry, not very clued up on the whole weather settings thing

Maybe a MAX lap time on the out lap. To prevent 10 minute warm up laps as track dries. LoL

If you tick off the steward he'll penalize your qualifying.
That's why we watch people ... so be nice. :P

The track will hardly dry within 3 laps. :D
75% by the end of the second flier, and that's if I don't dawdle getting on track or on my first flier. Matched my PB too, without any difficulty at all. Yeah, can't say I'm liking this idea of wet track + sunny. 👎

(Except if I have some "accidental" spins on my first flier, then I love it)

Does how quickly it drys out really matter much? Can't we all just go out and do it without playing "games"?

At this point I trust everyone to not be a tool. And seriously if that .3 makes someone's day that much better they can have it and I'll just pass them in the race.

It's qualifying at Monza where nothing is on the line but 1 measly bonus point. Let's just all be big boys and get it done.

Can we just qualify on a dry track? Sunny on Saturday, rain on Sunday, pretty much.

^^^ That.

Also keep in mind the "2 wheels on track" rule. 👍

I still think this will be a problem, I always do tire warm-up driving on my out lap. Others just go flying at the track.
I would have an unfair advantage.

I just wouldn't want to called on waiting on the track.

Then we just stipuldate that laps done under a certain percentage won't count. Let's say nothing under 60%? I dunno! I'm high on meds after a doctor visit.

I guess we can't have two people qualifying at the same time either. The second guy would have an advantage since they have to wait about 15-20 seconds to give themselves some distance from the other driver, meaning the track would be slightly drier for them once they start their flying laps.
