I am answering your question with the answer you gave me last week when I asked the same question. :dunce: :)

lol.. Well, at that time, there was at least 10-12 times on the board.. To day, there's none.. Exept my own..

So not concerned about the lack of posts, more concernd about the lack of quali times on the sheet.

I'm here. Just been catching up on work after a two week holiday. not much time otherwise but all good now. Will qualy shortly.

Yer we all know the rules and proceedures so yeah sweet F A to say really. Just lookin' forward to the next race as I always do each week.

Aanyone got a room open? 0815GMT

I've been trying to get a GT500 race going in the open lobbies but as soon as peepz see racing hard they leave. Pisses me off to be honest. What ya gotta do?

Allow racing mediums and run hards yourself. It'll give you closer racing, being on worse tires, I usually don't hit an online lobby without at least one tire type less then everyone else. :)

i want to qualy tonight if it's possible :) if not tomorrow night jajaja:dopey:

Can open up a room in the next hour or so if there isn't one already open. Would like to get mine done tonight too. 👍

Fair play, just post on the forums when you're home and ready and what not, and if there isn't a room up, I'll get one up and running!

Another team infront of Denso now :ouch:. (I curse your Raybrig at Eau Rouge in the rain :P)

Yay for first....

Thank you for the statistical work Tim!

I am wondering if we can get a clarification for the weather settings for this week's race. The forecast I just looked at showed precipitation at 90%. Plus we had that earlier picture showing snow on the track.

There are a few of us that want to practice, and I am not sure how to setup the track.

Thank you!

Settings that can be adjusted:
Weather - - (0-100%)
Weather Changeability - - (Scale 1-10)
Surface Water - - (0-100%)

Edit- for now I am using
weather - 100%
WC - 1
SW - 30%
The settings have it snowing.. pretty sweet.

Snowing??

Yeah.. coming down in flaky goodness. It hits the windshield and turns instantly wet. Track ends up the same I think.

Its just a matter of track wet percentage that counts anyway as far as I know.

Weather - - (0-100%) - Likelihood of rain
Weather Changeability - - (Scale 1-10) - Likelihood of weather change, 0 being slowly, 10 being in a lap or 2.
Surface Water - - (0-100%) - How wet the track is at start, which will go up quickly with rain.

It's a shame snow is so hard to get, I imagine we'd have to reset 20 times to get snow for the race.

My rain/snow room is now closed.. I have to go.

The room number that I posted in this thread is most likely still open. About 5 people in there practicing for their qualification when I left.

Well the important factor the chance of precipitation. Since we're looking at 90% I'd say we should go for an actual setting of 90% for the weather (rain), changeability we should put at maybe 5 or 6 (since Spa is famous for every corner having its own climate during races)

Starting surface water, however, is the hard one. I believe we should wait until the day, to see current forecasts right before the race (doppler radar). We can go by current condition weather read outs, which give precipitation percentages. This is the hourly forecast from Weather.com for the day of the race, for example:

http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/graph/BEXX0031?begHour=13&begDay=22#hhView

We start the race at 18:00 GMT, Belgium is +1 GMT, so if we went by this (which isn't as accurate as it'll be on the day itself, so we should wait) current reading for the race start time of 7pm Spa time I'd say we could start the race at a setting to which it'll be at 60% SW by the last half of the race. So starting with around 30% coverage with 90% rain chance will do it well.

@Wardez - ok.. But I am not sure how one understands what to put the surface water at. Are we just somehow translating the percentage chance of rain at that specific hour to surface wetness?

To get this really dialed in, we would have to somehow have a translation for inches of rain that have fallen. Which, IMO, would get very tough. We would have to have a preset grid of inches(cm) of rain to percentage of wetness we will set the course.

I think we need to pre-determine what percentage we are going to start the surface water for the race, well before the race. If it is raining, I think we should agree to a certain percentage. If it is 30% that is fine.

I just think for fairness there should be some sort of structure set up. If we are going to use percentage chance of rain, by xxxxx.com that is fine. It doesn't really directly translate.. but I think that would be ok, as long as the randomness of it will be chosen by an outside source. But, remember, this puts a very high probability on the day of the event, we will be starting with 100% surface wetness.

GV27 - 2:15.017 + 5 second penalty = 2:20.017

Sorry man.. Both laps no good. Second one by millimeters.

I have attached photos and the replay for admins to check.

It is the first time I have stewarded so don't want to get it wrong.

I hope I am doing the right thing here.

Once again I'm sorry man.

Ouch! That was too bad GV. But we're not giving 5 second penalty. 2% is a reasonable fighure for Spa, right? We had 3% for other tracks, but this one is so huge, a 3% penalty would be too much..

I added GV's time to the sheet with a 2 % penalty. Final time: 2:17.717

Fair enough. He was so happy with his lap. I feel terrible calling him on it.

Thanks for correcting that it is a percentage. My bad.

... dear lord.

Now this is downright depressing.

Don't feel bad. Obviously not your fault.

Which corner is that? I'm reviewing my fastest (3/4) lap and I don't see anything wrong?

It's always sad when it happens. Thing is that we need to have this rule, and be strict when judging, cause if we did'nt, we'd have a lot more discussions in here. Dirty is dirty. End of discussion.

I really feel for the driver, and for the steward as well since we're all friends here. But as I said, we need to be strict when judging qualis. Not your fault or responsebility Muzz. You did the right thing.

And I really feel for you GV. It's always sad when a lap is dirty by such a small margin. I can't remeber who it was, but someone had a really hard time at La Sarthe with a lap that was dirty by millimiters.

I think the picture Muzz posted is of my 2/4 lap. Please somebody check it for me. Obviously I can say my 3rd lap is fine, but I need official checking.

Somebody, please.

I think they are the 2 laps, a picture for each

Edit: maybe not

Both pics taken in same frame lap 3/4 long left hander at bottom of the hill. Could be lag but that's what I see.

Lap 2/4 was way wider than that.
