Ouch for me. The GT5 server failures on Sunday effected me strongly. I have been lucky enough to be disconnect free for the most part with GT5. Guess it was my turn. Horrible timing as I was most likely to take 4th behind the big 3 at Spa in the main, and had a good car for the Sprint.
Nothing I can do, but put my head down and try and get the results that will put me back in Div1.
Damn, that is horrible timing partner
And to top it off, now you're only going to be put on your back foot even further considering the next race is at Nurb GP (not an ideal track for the NSX), and your team mate (me
) is carrying a bit of ballast, meaning the testing/tuning isn't quite as useful to you either. At least you have a positive/fighting outlook that will surely bring you back to D1 soon enough though. Not to mention that your pace seems to be improving slowly but surely, which is awesome to see 👍 It's just too bad you face some tough competition (particularly with Noss & Replay I would imagine) to clear in D2 atm
Either way, it should be interesting (and a great challenge) to see if we can manage to fight for the Team Championship in the later stages of the series.
I totally agree.👍
Ballast imo is an advantage the NSX has, an unavoidable one too. Because the car is so unbalanced, thr first 75KG or so being thrown on the front simply levels the car out, whereas the GTR's start with great balance, so it's all just dead weight on them, combined with a narrow powerband means the acceleration is also hurt a bit more.
The Nordschliefe to me is a GTR track, lap times should be very similar, but if lap times are the same, the GTR always has the stability ease-of-use benefit.
I do know in any case it's also completely dependent on the driver as well. I know my lap times don't favor the NSX as much as it does for some of you guys.
I for one and not really sure what to think in regards to what car is going to benefit most when the ballast is slapped on (particularly at 60kg and up). From my prior experience with the GT-R, and even at the Inter-league GT500 race last weekend, the GT-R surely doesn't mind a fair bit of ballast torward the rear in order to reduce understeer and improve tire wear.
With the NSX I haven't really done enough testing to really get a clear enough picture on how the ballast positioning affects the car ultimately (particularly with my current 60kg of ballast). The thing with the ballast is (as you probably already know) - if you shift 60kg all the way from the front to say the rear of the car, you then have to do some rather moderate adjustments to iron out the balance of the car and prevent negative dynamics from happening. And being that GT5 doesn't really have much in the way of usable telemetry for tuning, it becomes the usual game of chasing your tail trying to figure out what really works best in the end, by feel, lap times, tire wear, etc.
Of course when it comes to this, being knowledgeable in the area of tuning (particularly in GT5) helps to a large degree, but at a certain point it all becomes a trial and error thing by going out on track and feeling/seeing what truly works.
With that said, I think with the NSX it's probably a safer bet running the ballast torward the front, particularly in the race where being able to manage your tire wear throughout each stint is usually more important than having that last tenth or 2 advantage early in the stint. But in the qualifying where tire wear generally takes a back seat to all out pace over 2 flying laps, things become a bit more questionable/unclear...at least in my rather brief amount of testing/tuning thus far at Nurb F/G. I also find it rather strange how you gain a pp with the NSX if you run the ballast all the way torward the rear vs the front...this might possibly say something for it's poential...I dunno
Still only 2 (me and Litchi) who've done quali?
How about tony? He said he needed to put a lap in yesterday because he was leaving from home, and wont be back until race time..
I take it that Tony's 55.04x was just done during practice then?
"I ran my qualifyer.. Got a 56.114 and happy with that..
Then tony1311 joined the track.. And at 1190 kg, he ran a 55.04X.. Ok that the GT-R got the upper hand here, but boy do I feel abused when watching him go."
