I'm sorry you take my post as demeaning. I understand what you like and was trying to save you and ourselves time and effort. As well keep focus so we can stay on schedule.

Really excited about the season and sooner we get going. The better. ;)

Seth got an idea. Have you considered a built Super GT series in racing softs? Maybe something where the cars are pretty wicked fast yet have the great grip from softs. I'd honestly be interested in something like that too. This idea maybe already done or in use. I don't know. Just sounded like fun and fits what you enjoy.

I'd be interested in a series like that, especially now that the soft tires last for a good bit with the latest update. Here's some food for thought on the grip of the tires IRL SGT;

taken from Kazuki Nakajima from his comparison of SGT and LMP (TS030)
http://www.toyotahybridracing.com/fuji-test-day-drivers-comments/
Kazuki Nakajima: “It was interesting to experience the track in an LMP1 car. I know Fuji Speedway well from Super GT racing but it is of course different to experience it with the TS030 HYBRID. The track is good fun in this car and I was really struck with the braking. In Super GT we don’t use carbon brakes so it was impressive to feel the difference. Compared to Super GT, the TS030 HYBRID is about four seconds quicker over one lap but in Super GT we have softer tyres; on race pace the difference will be around six seconds I think. The time is mainly made up from the braking and the boost out of the corner; it’s all cornering speed

I did some running with the specs of these cars and I still think the HSV is the car to have. With the ability to control the wheelspin on other cars it might not be so much of a difference, but with the HSV and it's low torque and peaky type engine, it's like an S2000, it make the power up high so coming out of tighter turns/corner exit is I think the best. The GTR's have a lot of grunt though, makes their acceleration really good.

Doesn't really matter if they use Soft Tires in real life, the GT soft tires offer too much grip for the standard series.

I base my belief off more than lap times. Even so, I can't run 1:43's at Motegi or 1:33's at Fuji on Hard tires, these cars don't have enough d.f. compared to real life either.

Been tracking race cars lately?

Would you believe me if I said yes?

we wouldn't believe anyone if they didn't provide pics and video proof.

Heck just a good story with names and a believable chain of events might do though

So there's other factors with GT5 that are'nt realistic?
So it could be something else than tire grip only that can improve/affect laptimes?

That's pretty much my take on it as well.

But then again, it's really hard to compare GT5 to real life.. Especially since we have'nt driven SGT's irl.
And even if we had, it would still be impossible to pin point the reason, or most likely reasons why laptimes are'nt comparable.

Well, I know RT's driven more race cars than I have... so I'll side with him on tire feel until Boris Said starts sim racing with us.

Which is....zero. :P

It's not like race cars are completely different from street cars.

Which one? Most of them were street cars, save for the car we used for drifting. That was more like a gutted street car with a cage.

In that case so has Wardez :D. (Hopefully anyway since we are yet to see this year GT-A USA :P.)

Sorry, no 'video proof' :lol:

Cars like the C5R have higher downforce points in game than SuperGT's, that's backwards. So there are flaws in the game such as this. But I think you can go just as quick in a SGT as a C5R at the same specs in game. Maybe faster. It'd be interesting to get official tire data from these cars, because there is big differences between them and other series'.

oh, I thought the one they used for the final was a caged and stripped... pfft... guess I'll go back to listening to forced. :P

(only race car I've ever been in was dirt-track redneck crapper that I hooned in a field while growing up in the sticks)

Say hello to this little beauty:

id like to get on this wagon, but ive checked the OP and cant see race dates or times? so I dont know if im capable of joining,

Hey Dave, thanks for the interest man. The proposed race time is the first bit of text toward the top of the OP.

Race time update:
We will be currently shooting for a Sunday race time at 18.00 UTC. 8 rounds every Sunday starting from the 21th of October to December 9th.

And is mentioned again a bit further down from that:
Green Flag time::
Sunday - 18.00 GMT | 10.00 Pacific Standard Time | Monday - 5.00 Australian Eastern Standard Time

We have another Aussie joining us so hopefully the time isn't too crazy?
But anyway, if you can make the time you'll have to arrange an audition with us in order to be accepted, so let me know.

Thanks again.
